  1. Thanks for the PM's so far, should have said at work all day so won't be able to get back until tonight but will get back to everyone in order of PM, cheers. Still most of them left.......
  2. Forgot to add some from last list, with decent reductions, I am almost giving these away, although no doubt someone will be able to show me I am not. These are very clean unless stated. Billy Hambric - She Said Goodbye/I Found A True Love (Drum) £150On Hold Tears - Good Luck My Love/What You're Doing To Me (Smash WD) £130 This has what looks like an address stamp on both sides of label. Clovers - Try My Loving On You (Josie Issue) £65 Bobby Angelle - Too Much For You (Money) £150 Dottie & Millie - Talking About My Baby/Nothing In This World (Topper) £160Sold Eddie Spencer - If This Is Love (Arc) £75 Jack Montgomery - Baby Baby Take A Chance On Me (Revue Promo) £120 Bud Harper - Wherever You Were (Peacock) £150 Mamselles - Open Up Your Heart (ABC WD) £140 This has some light scuffs.
  3. Okay tax man still chewing my balls, so need to liquidise some assets quickly, since I have no assets need to sell some beloved records. The Following records for sale, add £2 for normal postage £5.50 for special delivery. Would prefer bank transfer as payment, but can do PayPal as gift if possible, or cheque if needed. All are in good clean condition, may be some slight scuffs or paper marks, happy to give detailed condition description for specified records if required. I will add all sound clips tomorrow but all will play through perfectly unless stated. Happy to send sound clips and/or pictures of vinyl and labels if required. Ivy Jo - I Can Feel The Pain (VIP) £125 One of the best, gritty to the extreme. Seems to be picking up favour, after 20 years of trying! LJ Reynolds - Intruder (Mainstream) £65 Seems to be in vogue at moment, great up-tempo stormer. Delilah Kennibrew - Bright Lights (Loma WD) £100 Fantastic semi-known, same backing track as Mel Williams Burn Baby Burn (thanks to PD for that) perfect for all these people seeking "something different". The Larks - Come Back Baby (Money Demo) £50 J.J. Daniels - Mr Lonesome (Sure Shot Demo) £40 The Chalksters revival, brilliant hard soul, proper all-nighter music. Jock Mitchell - Nomad Woman (Golden Hit) £250 This has hiss through as most copies do, will supply a good quality sound file before buying so you can hear. Same backing track as the magnificent Stuart Ames, but this is 10 times more magnificent, very rarely seen.On Hold Friendly People - I Ain't Got Nothing But The Blues (VMP) £75 Wigan monster, when it had ditched the rubbish! Wallace Johnson - Baby Go Ahead (Sansu WD) £65 Seems to be very hard to find, been asked to sell this a lot. Great driving dancer, the kind of uptempo that is hopefully the kind that seems to be in vogue. Dynamics - You Make Me Feel Good/Lights Out (RCA WD) £60 Great dancer combined with just one of the greatest ballads ever. Al Johnson - Love Waits For No-One (South Camp) £135 Drill hole on label One of the best beat ballads ever, will break my heart to see this go. Too good to sell Fabulous Peps - With These Eyes/Love Of My Life (Wheelsville) £90 One of the best double siders out there. Sold Falcons - Love Like You Never Been Loved/Good Good Feeling (Big Wheel) £150 Possibly the best double sider ever. Kell Osbourne - You Can't Outsmart A Woman/That's Whats Happening (Loma WD) £90 Almost as good as his Highland cut, what a dancer, great double sider, should be played all over. Gail Anderson - Be Proud (You're In Love) (Salvador) £100 This just reminds me of that Stafford dance floor and the people, Stafford I salute you. Johnny Gilliam - Find Yourself Another (Bomar WD) £150 x on the label, ringwear on b-side of label. Gonna keep my battered copy of this and let this go, just one of the greatest records ever to be played, Stafford I salute you part 2.Sold Jackey Beavers - Bring Me All Of Your Heartaches (Grandlands) £100 Class in a glass, stuff like this just cries out for some attention. Albert Jones - I Do Love You (Tri City) £80 Great uptempo crossover. Larry Laster - That's Just What You Did (Duo Virgo) £150 Can't believe this is only going for this, possibly one of my top 10 all timers and much rarer than others at this price, such a shame if there is no place for sounds like this in todays scene. Couldn't bear to sell it so back in the box, sorry Floyd. Larry Laster - Go For Yourself (Loma Issue) £135 Sold[/u] Lorraine Chandler - What Can I Do/Tell Me You're Mine (RCA WD) £80 very slight ringwear on label Rose Brooks - I'm Moaning (Soul City) £165 very slight ringwear on label. Jesse Fisher - You're Not Loving A Beginner (Way Out) £110, the White label with red swirl, Willie Tee - First Taste of Hurt (Gatur) £150 Funky, Funky Twist b-side one, unfortunately, but top side one of the biggest crossover records out there.Sold Syng Mcgowan - Lonliness Is A Pleasure/Just In The Nick Of Time (Hope) £150 autographed by Syng and Betty, assume his wife. See this much less than his other one, and a far far better 45. Top side should be setting the floors of all these uptempo places alight and flip is just great mid tempo sound. More to follow tomorrow.
  4. Thanks for that Grant, thats why I was asking as he had it for £200 in his guide, but much lower on list suggests not selling, can't imagine it being really in vougue at moment, its one of my guilty pleasures.
  5. Pat Brady's old Don Varner c/u I think, General Assembly - Sensitive Minds -Desiree Didn't realise I still had this, some interesting prices for this around there. Anyone got a realistic price for this nowadays. Not really my sort of sound now but have to be honest and say it got me pretty excited playing it a couple of times this morning. great memories. Off to pick up some cartridges for my decks and will put sound clip up after that. Cheers Jock
  6. Bringing this back up to top, great spot Marc, I had seen something on EMS but not the full version, aI assume this means he is no longer inside, hope he is well. A truly great artist, and this is actually a very decent slice of contemporary Black music, love it. Now just need enough people to buy it to put some money back in his pocket.
  7. Shit week so wide awake, working on my own stuff though so not bad. I will burn the Sandra Phillips tomorrow, hope you are well (and no-one is creme egging your current employers )
  8. A bit shoddy Mark, the rules on MP3's are pretty clear mate and you are around a lot, really doesn't take long to put them in Refosoul, ranks a bit of taking the piss mate, nothing to do with me obviously but sometimes its nice to self moderate, give the hard working guys a break!
  9. Great idea John, will try and dig out some stuff tomorrow when "working" from home! DId he do the Sandra Phillips LP, great stuff on that, will put some up,
  10. Oops meant to be PM!
  11. I actually thought I had seen Lady for a bit more now, oh well, its not going to pay my tax bill after all!

    Wanted

HI there, if you send me a PM I can respond then, or send me a note of your email Cheers
  13. An absolute legend, one of the first big concerts I ever seen that turned me onto just soul, massive voice, massive personality, colossus of a man both in stature and talent. And so sexy, even from a straight mans view! Just so sad, will play all his albums over the next few days and remember him pre accident. Sad sad day.

    Wanted

I think I have a spare of this, can't PM from work and would need to check condition. PM me if you still looking for this. Cheers
  15. Update on above and reductions on a couple , I will add sounclips for some of these this evening as I think I may be describing them worse than they are! Billy Hambric - She Said Goodbye/I Found A True Love (Drum) £175 Tears - Good Luck My Love/What You're Doing To Me (Smash WD) £150 This has what looks like an address stamp on both sides of label. Larry Davis - The Magic Is Gone (Decca Blue Promo) £75 SOLD Clovers - Try My Loving On You (Josie Issue) £75 Vonettes - Touch My Heart (Cobblestone Promo) £75 SOLD Embers - Watch Out Girl (MGM Issue) £125 this has lots of marks and scuffs all over vinyl, hence price, it was graded as vg++ by a main dealer when I bought it. There are 2 faint clicks in 2nd half of song. Label has ringwear and very slight fading on this. Howard Guyton - I Watched You Slowly Slip Away (Verve issue) £125 Has a number of marks and scuffs, it was graded as Ex when I bought it. Some surface noise before music starts but absolutely none evident after. Label has some ringwear and a drill hole. Can do pictures of the vinyl for any interested buyer and will provide wav file soundclips. Bobby Angelle - Too Much For You (Money) £175 Dottie & Millie - Talking About My Baby/Nothing In This World (Topper) £180 Eddie Spencer - If This Is Love (Arc) £100 Jimmy Hudson - He Don't Love You/Whats That (Act IV) £250 The top side has 2 lines all the way around, not sure if they are actual scratches and some scuffs, not sure it wouldn't clean up but I am a bit nervous of cleaning something at this value. It has a very small label tear, where it looks like its been covered up in the past. The flip side has some marks and scuffs also, Happy to try and send picture of vinyl for anyone genuinely interested. Continental Showstoppers - Not Too Young/Never Set Me Free (Seventy 7) £225 SOLD Mamselles - Open Up Your Heart (ABC WD) £175 This has some light scuffs. Steve Mancha - Friday Night/Monday Thru Thursday (Groovesville Demo) £200 Jack Montgomery - Baby Baby Take A Chance On Me (Revue Promo) £150 Bud Harper - Wherever You Were (Peacock) £175 Originals - Ain't No Sun (Suspension) £85 Has one mark about 1/3 of way in but does not affect play. Has some other light scuffs Has a click for first 15 seconds of record rotating. This is pretty faint. Flairs - You Got To Steal It (RAP) £200 SOLD
  16. Just flying through so will keep my comments for later, one observation I meant to make would be it would be nice to add Refosoul clips rather than You Tube clips gents, much nicer and putting something on the site no??
  17. I have been following this with interest and sure you wont be surprised to know I had some comments on it, thought I would save it till complete. Below is list with doubles taken out, 272 by my count and sorted in order. 2 initial comments are (a) Very little "blue-eyed" stuff and very little out and out pop records (Kenny Thomas being the exceptipon obviously!) unlike any list of 60's Northern. Does thsi mean 70's fans are more likely to be actual soul fans? ( No Ace Spectrum biggie or Collins and Collins, surely 2 of the biggest anthems of the last 30 years, if you were there.................. I have a number of other comments but will hold back to see what else is said. 4 BELOW ZERO --- MY BABYS GOT E.S.P. 18. Oh that's a sore one. A true genius indeed and one of the very few people that can claim to be responsible for changing the face of music, being copied by many for many years after. I think this thread proves for me its his productions that really were his legacy, and I would disagree with Ash, I reckon in the wide world outside of the Northern scene most people are more familiar with his productions as they were truly groundbreaking and genre defining. However, whatever way you remember him, and its fairly clear all sectors of the soul world do, its living proof of the mans enormous legacy, another really sad day, but as someone else says, he leaves a lot of great work that we can celebrate his life by, and it really is truly worth celebrating for me. C'mon guys, a nice fitting tribute would be to put some soundfiles on refosoul other than You Tube clips, then he is going to live forever on here too. RIP Willie Mitchell, a leader and a true player!
  19. Flip it over Ted, the other side is almost as good, I actually prefer their other one on Loma (I think both 45's are superb mind) but that just doesn't seem to cut it.
  20. Bloody hell Tedward some great bargains on there, particularly Othello Robertson and Mel Heuston, I was always told that was a really hard record, probably just out of vougue now, which is criminal.# Can't believe they haven't been snapped up, pretty sure I put a Mel Heuston soundclip up, may be worth copying it in here as sure there are still people interested in that. An old Guy Hennigan c/u and pretty popular back in the day. Jeez just noticed the Fir-Ya track, that was hitting a £100 every day a couple of years back and another fantastic record, can't beleive its still sitting there, an absolute winner for all these recent new 70's converts.
  21. Pete I am just running away so dont have much time, but you may still get lots of questions at Bank due to amount of cash and money laundering rules, they are very tight these days. It may be worth taking a copy of your original request and copy some notes re donations you have had. Not totally clued up on this so anyone who works in Bank that are on holiday today would know better. Give me a ring if you want but as I say not really my area of expertise, may be worth a call to the bank before you go down and explain circumstances and ask what they need. Well done for this by the way. CHeers Jock
  22. Morning Ted and Merry Xmas He was one of the first big influences on me, very friendly once you got over his shyness, and great taste, it was thanks to his tips I got some real biggies before they were known. He even gave me career advice at the time as were on similar paths, very nice bloke and like so many from then doesn't get enough credit. I have a great picture of him at Wigan with Gary Rushbrooke, similar blokes and both great influences I will post over next few days. These were the days I spent much more time running up and down to check the decks than dance, which seems to be a crime in many peoples eyes these days
  23. Just bought one of those Motown Albums, hadn't seen them before, an extra pressie from Diane, she just doesn't know it yet. Right off to family for day of staring at telly and saying nothing, Royle Family have nothing on ours. All the best mate
  24. Thats the kind of thing I normally say Simon and get lambasted for it Must admit surprised at people not liking it but I am starting to realise thats the essence of Northern I suppose, people get different things from different records when judged as Northern, this one was always a bit special for me, I seem to remember this as one of the first big "collectors" records to be played, very occassionally, back in early 80's and made us look for something different. I am sure Chris Plant was guy I heard playing it but always heard talk of this family from Mansfield where one of the brothers had a copy along with , long before I knew Rob. Will always love this, both sides, reminds me of what it was all about for me, both musically and people.
