Wendell Watts "kiss A Good Thing Goodbye (Reforee)
jocko replied to Cobbles's topic in Look At Your Box
I prefer Mrs Mills to You Girl, can't believe he can be so good on one, the subject of this, and so woeful on the other You Girl! -
Echo Mr Chalk's plea, the stream was crap, If noone has a copy will just have to make mr Gilbert replay it live on Friday afternoon in Cleggy Bar when we have, hopefully, our annual customary pint.

Holy Spirit - Spiritual Soul and Gospel Funk From Shreveport's Jewel Label
jocko commented on Ian Dewhirst's article in News Archives
Cmon Mr D, get working overtime, delivery put back by Amazon again, I hope you are not sleeping or having the evening off!!! Anticipation building nicely for this, the Philly Box set should be on doormat by time I get home, its a good time to be buying re-issue CD's. Feel free to buy me a pint if we ever meet off your profits (the rest of your profits should just about buy you one I imagine! ) -
Top artist, and some recent recordings well worth chasing too. RIP Lou.

The fact it is Steve Coogan and it is being filmed in North in those timescales sounds like it is Elaine Constantine's film, but not sure, why don't you ask the person and then you can tell us. Although why the thread should start with oh no not another film when you actually know nothing about it is a little strange. I wonder if everyone says to Martin Scorsese and Francis Coppola, oh no another film about the struggle of Italian Americans, or do they just say I wonder if this will be a good film and worth seeing! SWONS indeed.

Was that at the edge of the dancefloor, near the top of the stairs, if so me and some of the Preston Lads, that famous lawfirm, Mercer, Stanhope and Kellet were behind the guy kneeling and trying to pour water in his camera to put him off, really hated the filming at that time. But look back on that now and wish there had been more like this, fairly sympathetic and a great snapshot of fantastic times and people, some no longer here. Certainly wish I had got my fizzog on a couple of them now rather than running away looking like a Tarsier! I also remember the box Mr Flynn, that wasn't one of Mr Powney's early appearance was it, he did that a couple of times although suspect that was earlier.

And can I just say how magnificent does this record sound now, funny was playing it to put on sales list but its intrinsic enjoyment value far exceeds its financial valueso back on the shelves it went! If I heard this at 3am in a good allnighter dropped in a hardcore 60's set I would say now that is a proper DJ. In between panting for breath at having danced for more then 2 minutes. Get it bought folks, surely this is a forgotten oldie.....

Its out. On download! I can sell you my OMP3O and buy the CD Best track on the 2nd CD is bling bling!

It isn't and it does, My smiley less humour missed again. The newly enlightened "modern soul" fans include this in their soulful house part of their play it by numbers sets, although it is quite clearly neither. All IMHO only. Its actually a cheesy French dj disco mash up, if you want its proper title. I was just using it as excuse to open the debate on Robert Plant again, but I suspect we are so off topic and I have definitely used my off topic quota for the day, and I have work to do
-
Its a proper House record. Just like RP is a proper Northern record........... Oops forgot to say my original point, its on a CD you can get for about 2.50 which is the original release, for those that care and don't want to be accused of double standards......

(a) It is John Kane, (b) It was released as a download on Traxsource and secreted away by Terry Jones as Gil Scott Heron, I am not aware of any CD release certainly not before the vinyl. © My understanding was the vinyl was a fully licensed 12", so hopefully you are comfortable with your accusation. (d) Welcome to SS, glad to see you are comfortable on the side of people who happy to repeat hearsay, badly, and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. (e) If this person isn't a wind up, albeit a good one, I will wax my chest and roast my nuts in public (staying on topic,an in keeping with the surreal flow). (f) If this person isn't a wind up, then Godz owes me a huge apology for thinking I am as nuts as him. (g) Somebody turn of my email following of this, I am too scared to in case I miss something interesting, although if it is a wind up that may qualify as interesting, and yes I still believe in the tooth fairy. (h) I repeat some posts on this prove that some of the OVO preachers actually now don't get "it" either, hilariously. (i) Thanks to Russ Noble for the inspiration for this thread, part of me suspects this is him testing his new material, if so I like it. (j) And yes, my old favourite. Good Comedy writes itself! Sonic Muffins rules!

There are actually lots of people on the "scene" like that too, they just exist in their own bubble away from here. On line is not really an overall representation of the complete Northern world (aka some strange planet) or wider soul related record buying world. I suspect forums always attact the real enthusiasts (aka the geeks) and the rest just quietly (aka sneakily) get on with it. You need to come over on holiday and spend a month in the East Midlands to really get a flavour of the wider world Bob, you could even guest on Dean Andersons radio show, sure he would be more than happy for you relay your thoughts on the UK Northern world.

Great idea Frank!

I think I love you.

Fair point on that, oh prickly one.......

As you will see from his response he is in denial! Just ask to see his pictures from back in the day with tache, some will say its complete proof!

I do think nowadays it would be good to have peoples names on their profile somewhere, I do sign my more contentious posts with full name, though suspect large chunk know it already, it appears on a number of dartboards I believe. I am more embarrased in real life since swathes of people, some good friends now only know me as this, which was kinda cute at first but sometimes now confusing. It took my mother 20 years to allow people to call me Jock, so Jocko would definitely be stretching it... James Horatio Ignatius O'Connor, aka Jock

Magnetic Touch - Just In The Nick Of Time - Any Info?
jocko replied to Benji's topic in Look At Your Box
Yes another that got away, if you have a spare I will up my offer by £3.50 to £15 and we can add it to that bill I have with yours that looks as enforcable as a Ticketus agreement........ -
But at least you would shoot each other over the argument, adds a little spice to getting involved.....
-
And sparkling lack of intro and only posting on this makes me smell wind up. Get your mods hat on and twist his gonads to get an iD please. My suspicions are deepened by the fact It is too early in day for care in the community to have access to their computers surely.......

I was going to come round to that Scouse house you live in and take the wooden spoon away from you but latest posts have reduced my will to live and can't believe I read this thread again. Off to ogle album covers and 45 labels again, preserve my relative sanity. Dig in and kick Mr W, they all deserve it for getting involved in this one, again.. :D
-
Yes very good, living proof that as many people arguing for as against dont actually get "it" either these days. Nurrssee pass my meds.

And what was that you were saying about stereotypes Denis! A serious part to this topic is about the fact these are all complete rip offs, which in Pete's more innocent world we didn't probably really get or have the information at our hand, but surely the more interesting slant to this question is the impact they have on legit reissues and CD's, which also werent around in times Pete talks about, and therefore why people buy these so knowingly in current times?. Is it just to dj with, or is because people only want to buy vinyl, do people buying the big ticket items also buy all the Kent etc CD's and the legal reissues? It would also be interesting to hear people like Ady and Tony's perspective on how/if damaging it is to their world. This sort of discussion for me has some legs, not the should they be played etc.

I post behind a number of people because I disagree with certain things, I like to think I also articulate why I disagree, (you should try it sometime) as I did above. Occasionaly I rubbish some theories and opinions that I disagree strongly with and are not based around fact, however rarely the people, not that hard to check and prove me wrong if you really want to ..... Your misguided ego on my following you around rather than just being tired with the same old same old is sweet, but boring. Not that hard to evidence on here just how wrong you are is it. If its not worth explaining, its not worth debating, The chap has responded very eloquently and succintly, and is a rather spiffing answer, one that many of us would hang our hat on and should arguably be the last word on this and maybe should be hung up as good guide to the answer. Surely you should do the same if you are going to pull up a newish poster. Its nice to be nice. And as for Denbo's question, surely its all about supply and demand, i.e. its cheap to source and lots of people see no reason not to spend £10 on something dodgy rather than buy the same on CD, SWONS and all that, Never really go on E-Bay these days so suspect I am blind to the majority of this these days, the demand is obviously there and its all for Charidee so whats not to like.......
