Pied Piper - A New Concept In Detroit Soul
For me it's due to the quality, and number, of the unissued stuff. There is half a spot in there that would be one of the most exciting for a long time, the fact they were all quality uptempo Northern was for me the clincher. However I agree its no where near their greatest overall CD, which just shows Ady and Tony are actually much smarter in real life. :-)))

Various Ramblings On Subject Of Elkie Brooks
Okay then, give me 3 great white origin soul records (not Northern Soul as the other thread) and then I might understand wtf you actually mean by that somewhat strange and frankly contradictory statement. The fact you see no link to Soul music and skin colour suggests history is not your strongpoint. However it becomes a little tiresome when numpties (word of the week) assume that when a soul fan complains about lack of soul in music he is so stupid he only judges by skin colour. I find Eddie Hinton and Bobby Womack equally great soul singers with Womack winning due to more great performances. Google and learn something. If you mean Northern then say so and I'll retire to my musically prejudiced heaven.

Hesitations On Gwp
Chill tune.... Is that what you bought it for? I think not, man up and stand up to those terrorists. Fantastic record and way below market value I would say.

Various Ramblings On Subject Of Elkie Brooks
Lots of British pop records sound good for the first seconds, then the singing starts and its all over.......

Jack Montgomery Baby Baby Take A Chance
I tell you what, you have changed your tune now you are a buyer rather than a seller. I had to sell my 2 firstborn to be able to afford your records. Just added an extra 20% to that pile of stuff I had pulled out for you now..... Right off to freeze my bollocks off!

News: Pied Piper - A New Concept In Detroit Soul
Just like the first toke of a crack pipe, its clear you will be back. On toke 2 of this CD and I will be back. Stunning, although just to keep Ady on his toes, and I appreciate the last two tracks are historically relevant, but they are kack, so 100% hit rate for vol 2 please (although I should say thanks for putting them both at end, makes the ff much less hassle) Kent I think I love you....

Various Ramblings On The Topic Of Sandy Golden
The same year Hibs won their first trophy in years as I missed the final due to driving down to 100 Club after it, so around 1991 and right group right time. Mr Parker and Mr Steele, proper night. I actually dj'd there, I played more straight ahead 60's, you probably still walked out half way through the first record :-))))

I was dancing to it while you and the other stuck in a time warp people were on their "break"

You obviously still believe in Santa and the Virgin Mary if you are surprised, you would have thought being as old as you (according to Cliff Steele) you would know better :-)

What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
I probably fit into both, but differently (I hope) in mindset. Although very loosely in the DJ one, especially nowadays (no obvious comments from the floor please) and to stop me being tempted to DJ again I am considering seriously downsizing my 45's. The warped mind of a collector. However, off home to get naked and shout yipee!

What Do You Do With Your Record Collection, Play It Or Just Store It?
Its what all collectors dream of. Its what DJs consider a liability! I sit in my record room naked shouting yipee in celebration of the beautiful things most of the time, doesnt everyone? Rob Marriot even drew a picture of this on one mad weekend.

Cecil Womack RIP
I seen this on Southern Soul forum, very sad, Great singer, seen them live twice and thought they were fantastic, fantastic voices and they also wrote some great songs. Hard to believe but track below was played at all nighters back when it came out.

Ever Doubled Up Without Realising?
During its popularity phase I dug around and found I had 6 wd's of O'Jays To Prove I Love You, I gave the extras away at Lifeline weekender even though a bundle of nupmties were paying stupid prices for it. Having collected Philly I just bought whatever was in front of me, I still have 2 WD's and 1 issue of Anthony White that I really should sell.

Soul Twins - She's The One - Back Beat - Nm
B side is more than fantastic, its beyond fantastic deep soul, one of Kents first slow LPs that help turned me onto music like this. Mr Independant

Ever Doubled Up Without Realising?
Its called greed! Having always prided myself on knowing what I bought I would like to laugh at all those above, however now having a sorted record room I realise I was delusional having found about 30 singles doubled and about 50 LP's!! Watch for the list going up soon...... Mr Trick, glad to see you are still out there, will be calling you around lunchtime for a quick chat.

The Tempests - "someday"
I was going to say sure I had seen this in the dark corners of a record room......

Queens Hall Bradford
Wasn't the white label a boot that some DJ's had? Mix everyone was chasing was on a double pack promo I thought and everything else was wrong mix or boot. The boot did sell for a lot of money I believe so maybe where the legendary white promo story came from. Where is Mr Salter when you need him, his memory is much better than mine. fk me a house theme and I am talking OVO, we need to stop it, its becoming second nature :-)) Related story was due to a chance conversation at a record fair an old mate Kerso, who you can see on card above, found about a stash of a few copies of the double pack in Musselburgh, 7 miles away from me and in my old town, in the TV shop as they guy dealt records on the side. We cleaned them out as they were impossible to get. Nostalgia, again/ I remember that card and know almost everyone on it, remember Robin going around with, so where is my signature, I sometimes wonder if maybe I just invent being there....

Queens Hall Bradford
Vanessa, now Mrs Jackson, beside Pete, both giving lad in dark jacket who I do know but cannot remember, "the eye"!

Mel Vena Allen - If I Were An Orange - Salvador 777
Flip side was played covered as, I think, Gail Anderson back in 80's, on shelves but can't actually remember it at this moment!
