According to the above link its Free Will thats the alt take, it says the top side is the original from the LP. so I suppose the question is the 45 version different from the LP. Although its all incidental, just buy it, and more importantly buy the triple CD it comes from if you want to hear sheer genuis in the making.

Its on the bside of the UK Phillips release of Lady Day and John Coltrane, fairly stunning double sider reallyl.

I didn't know that was on vinyly Not sure I saw it, it was a Soul Brother release though so try them at the shop, and they should know, maybe even have stock number is 020 8875 1018 If its for her version of Brother Brother its also on a Jap cd of From A Whisper to A Scream, think that was original one, but pretty sure no vinyl on that, and be careful its been re-released about 4 times and its only the Jap one that has BB on it, I learned from the mistake of buying the wrong 3 before i got the right one! -
You sure there isn't a WD? I thought I had seen one, but in over 20 years of collecting Loma never got one, so maybe it was my imagination.

Bafta Awards 2015 - Northern Soul Film in Nominations
jocko commented on Mike's article in News Archives
As a semi pro critic its a shame you seem to have ignored both the actual style of filming, the real time scenes, all the action in the dark, the lighting etc, and also all the subplots going on, the dj ambitions, record discovery process, family challenges and lifes thrown away, that tied into lots of real life scene related experience that I thought were very skilfully woven through what I agree you could argue was a standard coming of age main plot, but then in most coming of age films its actually the sub plots that makes it stand out from the rest, as the journey is often the same at an overall level. I think most people, possibly even Elaine, were surprised at the nomination. But at the end of the day it proves we can argue all day about the nuances of a Northern Soul film, but it being recognised just as a good film by film critics, and Elaine as a talented film maker probably makes it all worthwhile! And proves we don't know what we are talking about outside matrix numbers and run out grooves -
Raw the morning after surely! Thats proper Northern.

No problem with being discussed, some balance would be nice. No-one said anything about it not being for commercial gain, or indeed anything wrong with that. I would argue it was done purely for artistic merit, and to satisfy a driven ambition, like lots of talented people do, and any commercial reward is a bonus, I repeat do you your day job for nothing? The fact you completely ignore what is now public about how it was funded and the challenges that made, to make your bullish point, suggests you have a beef, you just don't know it. Anything without truth is invalid. And ironically you prove your point by negating your good points with stuff you are just making up. Anyway, enough . I'll leave you to your anonomous crusade. Look forward to seeing you on some other threads.

Thats the most rdiculoussly uninformed post ever. I know both very well, and know their story, Some of it is public now, so why don't you post your real name up and we can see why you have this beef. More to the point is also totally fuckwittedly irrellevant. Do you do your day job for free? You were obviously around in the 80's/90's so we will know each other. Maybe then can have an intelligent chat rather than some second hand, and second name, calling. Its a pity, a very articulate, well argued and in most cases relevant post. Shame you ruined it by some personal beef you obviously have. Methinks plenty angst, little facts.

Dont you offer your services as a more commercial DJ now Mark. Seems a bit hypocritical does it not. Too many people seem to want to have a dig at things these days, including myself sometimes, with nothing to back it up and little action to rectify it, and in reality no involvement in the real scene that struggles on. I repeat if anyone thinks a shreddies advert impacts on Lifeline/Burney/100 Club/New Century Do's and the likes then they are further from the scene than they realise. From my gin soaked world, all I can see is people like me moaning about how crap "it" is but actually not having anything to do with "it". Meanwhile the people who do get "it" just keep doing "it", probably occasionally glancing in here and smiling ironically!
-
Why the connection between this and the film though. One of the biggest criticisms of film is its too gritty. Sounds like yet another beef?

Check up on discogs. there is definitely a market for some of them, although bizarrely the UK ones always seem to be real cheap, which I suspect is daft as they probably sold about 2 copies against reasonable sales in the states. www,discogs.com

Billy Paul. Am I Black Enough For You Is very well done, and worth a watch. Probably one of the best of its time. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Billy-Paul-Black-Enough-You/dp/B002BF51BU/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1421763825&sr=1-1&keywords=billy+paul+am+i+black+enough+for+you There are numerous Marvin Gaye, but mostly just concert ones. Pretty sure the Montreux one is strongest but a while since I watched them. Solomon Burke one is worth a watch, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Solomon-Burke-Everybody-Needs-Somebody/dp/B000NJLPQ6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1421763724&sr=8-2&keywords=solomon+burke+dvd I have lots but can;t think of much more at moment

Bloody hell, never noticed that was just about to offload the 45's as well where I had the LP. You have now made me hesitate. His greatest for me however is immense Man Without Love, on KT, other side of that old Ion monster (no not that old monster Ion) Shield All Around, great double sider. Great tip on the CD, the amount of material out there at the moment is frightening!

I suspect he's a DJ part time only, but a shepherd by day!

I got into Northern to get away from the masses and Peter Stringfellow wannabees thank you very much. Me and my gin botttle are very happy in our solitary confinement, wallowing in progressive nostalgia about how good our days were, while moaning about people who wallow in nostalgic nostalgia. Long may we continue. So its a Goldsoul promotional tool, that you may turn into a book and charge people for the information they have provided freely. Why didn't you say that in the first place, I could have saved myself getting falsely aroused.
-
Have skim read this and don't understand the mixcloud reference and then it being about played in clubs. Where is the information actually from ? And how is it gathered, appreciate bringing my day job on here a little but the autenticity of any opinion has to be based on the authenticity of the data surely? Confused of Bishopsgate!
-
Can you please stop coming on here and making me look all positive and cheery, its bad for my street cred
-
And in that statement everything depressing about "the scene" is displayed. Bast*rd I had been dry for three hours, off for some gin antibiotics.

Book - The History of Okeh Records: 1918 to 1970

Hi there, I had answered, will try again, let me know if nothing comes through. Cheers -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wMX67A_YDI&sns=em And with his trademark whoops and soaring vocals, just a beautiful love song to me, even though I may not agree with the subject of his love. With the Soul Stirrrers, and Touch The Hem of His Garment. Sam Cooke, one of the founding fathers of soul as it became in the 60's. I salute you.
-
As the title says, its 50 years today that Sam passed, and he is still for me one of the most important, and one of the true originators, of this music we call Soul. This song for me is in some ways unsurpassable as pointer and a blueprint into the music that was going to change my life. And its something we don't celebrate enough in my opinion, which is what I want this thread to be about only, the celebration of the Soul, Just Soul, in all its glory (where have I heard that before??) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbO2_077ixs&sns=em Sam Cooke with the mighty A Change Is Gonna Come

Promoters Booking Events At Other Promoters Venues. Is This Right?
jocko replied to Soulie8's topic in All About the SOUL
Cmon over Joe and Martin, the chair is dry, for the moment, like the GIn. This says everything just about how "the scene" is fucked. Someone put the lights out as they leave, no doubt they will be old copy SOX lights being sold as originals but branded for profit. Sad f**king state for old men to be in. -
