Phil Spector Wall Of Sound Soundalike Recommendations
Not sure if it's well known or not, but about 10 years ago I picked up a copy of Darlene Loves' 'Lord, if your a woman' on Warner/ Spector records produced by the man himself dates from about 1977ish, personally I love it but never heard it out anywhere, real WOS stuff. Regards Jim.

100 Club To Close By Xmas
How true Mr W, Wigan Casino, dear oh dear. As for the 100, a tragedy for music in general in the capitol, the soul scene is made of stronger stuff tho' I feel. However, I cut my Soul teeth there practically in short trousers so personally I'd be gutted. We've all managed to have the odd good night out since the Torch, Mecca, Stafford and Wigan bloody Casino closed tho' havent we?! Things change. Oh well Jim.

Whats The Best Weekender You Have Attended And Why?
For me it's the TAC weekenders, 1990/1991. So many great live acts (altho' the four tops debacle still grates somewhat) but hey! Chuck getting all the audience singing 'Any day now', Lorraine Chandler pulling Keith up singing 'What can I do' on stage, Clarkie on the campus wireless, getting a mint Bobby Sheen on WB for not alot at all, hearing 'Just loving you' for the first time in that little 'Northern' room out the back, Banks and Bickers causing all sorts of chaos, Gene Chandler interviewed in that crappy little radio room, bloody great weekenders them. TTFN Jim altho' Sunday nights at Cleggers take a bit of beating.

Norman Connors- This Is Your Life- Lp
The title track has been a desert island spin for many a year for me, even more so now as it's a bit of a lullaby for the little fella on the wind down soul selection he's got going on. Great call. Regards Jim

The Ultimates Lp
Recently spotted (an original, not pvine) one of these on that well known 'drain on resource' auction site, haven't seen one for some time. Are they a legit issue or a bit of a cobbled together affair by the yanks to cash in on our lust for their music? I remember seeing 'Girl, I've been trying to tell you' on an Anglo list many years ago on the 'front page focus'! Remember that? Cheers Jim.

Your First All-Nighter..where & When
1986, November, 100 Oxford Street, several pain in the arse changes on the train from Maidstone. Fifteen, but Ady still let us in (and still does) Court Davis 'Try to think what your doing' (when was the last time you heard that out??) from Roger S and Silky Hargreaves from 'the Master' Clarkie Things would never be the same again. Wheres the time gone? Jim

Epsilons 'the Echo'
Folks, Had this for some time but just recently it's sounding rather tremendous, so much so I've had to buy a demo as well (no, I don't know either) Couple of things, are they the Shrine combo and why Stax? Is it a Philly recording? and, were Mcfadden and Whitehead members? Yeah, ok that's three or four (?). Happy new year to all. Jim and team Penkhull.

rip. If he'd only made 'Tomorrow keeps shining on me' he'd be a bit of a legend in my house, but 'I'll take the blame' and 'Sugar baby' are right up there as well. thanks chris. JIM
