  1. Hiya Mike, I sold a minty one about 6 months ago for £40 (ish), reckon that would be about the going rate.

  3. Depends where the DH is really. They are obviously just random and can end up obscuring wording on the labels and look messy aswell. So it's understandable that some, let's say, demanding collectors might be put off. Generally though, they reflect the nature of what the record is. One which never made it as a seller and ended up in the Bargain Bin for ten-a-penny. What most of our beloved records were really. So, it's swings and roundabouts for me.
  4. Posted more or less the same on a link in Facebook when the story first hit the local papers here. It's front page news by the way in the WEP (Wigan Evening Post). Just a coincidence no doubt, that it's in the immediate run up to Supermarket Soul at the Grand Arcade too!!
  5. It looks very much like the 70's boot I had a few years ago. Not sure if there was ever an official demo release that had that label design, might be wrong though. And if I had any doubt over it's authenticity I would bung it up in an auction.
  6. Hey up. Mine's styrene, Monarch (MR) stamped with 'scratched' Monarch matrix 58721 and Atco matrix 65C-9290-21. Also has classic Atlantic AT scratched in with the LW mark aswell.

Sean Chapman has an issue with p/s here .... https://www.chapmanrecords.co.uk/recordinfo.asp?recno=9982
  8. I'll give ya £50
  9. My sentiments exactly. It was a dump but a dump I didn't mind being dumped in Nice one Pete. Not heard as clear a recording as that before
  10. Not sure which was first but the Blue is rarer. Seen a minter for going for £100 in the last couple of months
  11. I've racked me brains on this because as stated there was always another track appearing to become the favourite of the time. I must have had a new favourite every month. In the end though I've come up with "Sandi Sheldon-You're Gonna Make Me Love You". Top tempo and always a brilliant dance floor reaction when that bump, bump, bump, bump, bassy intro. reverberated through the building. Ahhhh, memories.
  12. That is a really great post Sandi. But, take me back 30 years (I know some of them tracks weren't around then) and I would have wholeheartedly disagreed with you. However, having been off the scene for quite a while and then coming back onto it, I've realised that some of my old prejudices were exactly that, prejudice. Don't get me wrong, "oldies" are still my first love, but with having kids that love the "crossover/modern" stuff and actually listening to it for a change, I have found I actually can move my feet to it and enjoy doing so. Back to the post point though, I always had trouble at niters. Not being one to indulge in any 'energy' products (yes, there was one or two of us), I always fell asleep around 5 o'clock. Always ended up full of bruises from people kicking and stepping on me. More fool me for falling asleep on the dance floor I guess
  13. Hiya mate, I was asking about this on this thread the other week...... 7th reply down says about £125 for a demo, £175 for a black issue or £15 for an orange 70's re-issue. Assume that's probably decent condition.
  14. Sorry folks. But to an oldies mon of my persuasion it's a shuffler that you stomp to Nice record though
  15. Syl Johnson - Do You Know What Love Is ? It's certainly well under 2 minutes.
  16. Mine has the Pub: Nick-O-Val with the VOCAL just above it on the right of the label. But the matrix in the run-out is slightly different. Mine is ST-A-29220-4 not 7. It also has the tell-tale AT and another squiggle that I can't make out. Blunny.
  17. And that applies to anyone else who might ask them
  18. You could try asking this seller if they're gonna put it up again, having not sold it....... https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380125480960&_rdc=1 Just don't forget who told you, okay
  19. I'm doing fine Paul. Let me know before St Theresa's mate. It'll save me on postage so I reckon I could fetch you the cash in nice crispy notes
  20. One of the reasons I put the thread up here first really. Hopefully getting a general idea from the replies. If the totals about the same at the end, then the thread will have done it's job and I'll be chuffed. Doesn't mean I'll get any offers from sellers. Anybody selling might still think I'm a skinflint , but I'll feel better that I've got a consensus of opinion So thanks again.
  21. Thanks mate. Think I've got a decent one for me money. (Crosses fingers )
  22. Thanks Beeks, for the reply, it is really appreciated. Had all these before , sold 'em all , trying to get 'em back now It's a top record, flogged the one I had 10 years ago for £3 Hopefully sorted with the Merle Spears now, thanks to me mate Andy (soulster1) informing me of a potential buy.
  23. Thanks Baz. I was thinking of just posting it up but I didn't want anyone to hijack the thread with 'Give Over Mate, You Skinflint", type replies £30 for the Vonettes? Ya bugger you
  24. Bit of advice please. I was gonna list in the wants section for the following original records. The amount in brackets following the record is the price I'd rather not pay more than. Thus not wasting any seller(s) time if their price is higher and wouldn't want to sell. My query is.... Am I being realistic? Obviously I would want the best condition possible but What condition could I expect to get for the money? The records are...... Dynamics - I Wanna Know - Big Top (£70) Lorraine Chandler - I Can't Hold On - RCA Victor (£85) Merle Spears & The Treats - I Want To Know - Whit (£75) Sheppards - How Do You Like It/Stubborn Heart - Mirwood (£80) Vonettes - Touch My Heart - Cobblestone (£100) I'd prefer to pay with PAYPAL which might have a little bearing on the prices, as some sellers prefer to have the buyer pay the fees. Thanks in advance folks.
