  4. Kurt Harris - Emperor Of My Baby's Heart
  5. Too right!! Biggest culprit of the lot was Wigan Casino. I can't comment on The Torch, Twisted Wheel, etc, but Wigan Casino was certainly the death knell for countless local Youth venues in the area. All-nighter every Saturday Night and an Oldies All-nighter every 1st Friday of the month. Was that enough, oh no. Monday, Wednesday and Friday night early sessions aswell. Blew the local Youth Club culture out the water and did they care? Well, to be honest, they probably didn't even know. It was the "Best Disco In The World" afterall, so why on earth should they think about the local Youth Clubs? Just a thought though, if there ain't a major influx of young 'uns onto this scene of ours in the next 5 or 10 years, this argument won't exist anyway. Get them Youth Clubs back up and running P.S. I did enjoy my time at Wigan Casino by the way
  6. There was a thread on this last year .... And Mr Manship has one for sale ..... https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/62660/ROYAL_FIVE
  7. Don't suppose you'd class as dire if you're a West Ham fan but certainly for total contrast the flip side of "The Jewels-We Got Togetherness" which is entitled "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" And an Instrumental only your grannie would love check out "Bet You're Surprised" on the flip of G. Davis & R. Tyler's "Hold On Help Is On The Way" You're right Harry....there's bleedin' thousands
  8. By the looks of the bidding page, the Reserve Price was £1200 Lord knows though why anyone met it
  9. Drives me daft this when a seller sends a package, uninsured by USPS mail and declares the value of the item greater than the maximum indemnity of $45.62.
  10. Hiya Carms, Not sure if this helpful or not but I have had 3 copies of this over time. Two black label Chess issues and a white Chess demo and they are all the same version, which I assume is the slower version you refer to. Will have to try and find the CD you mention to have a listen as I have not heard it. Oh, just thought I'd have a root on Youtube and there's a post the version I have here.... P.S. Nice to see ya returning and enjoying Burscough Legion again

  12. Oh 'eck. So I wonder who the extremely lucky 2nd bidder was? I know who the $3.50 first bidder was
  13. One thing to be wary of though when sending as a gift, is that neither Buyer or Seller are covered by the Paypal Protection policies as by gifting money, it's deemed that nothing is being bought/sold. I have always preferred the "add 4%" approach or even better, the "split 2% between buyer and seller. As it's the convenient method of payment for both.
  14. ** ENDING TONIGHT WEDNESDAY 17th February ** All these ending tonight between 7.45pm and 8.30pm. Still plenty potential bargains for ya HERE'S THE LINK -> https://shop.ebay.co....&_ipg=50&_sop=1
  15. Yeh, the Billy Stewart was pressed on the earlier black label.... https://cgi.ebay.co.u...44708031&_rdc=1 Edit: Looks as though it's etched in though on that photo (having looked again). So we have established that Pete's Tony Clarke is a 1st Reissue Stereo Original Boot then Great this here Northern Soul record collecting innit?
  16. No, I wouldn't disagree with that. Was just pointing out that I wouldn't have thought that Stereo was the reason that they would decide to do another run on the mastering/presses. More likely that they thought it would go big beforehand and had multiple runs done nationally. Giving rise to the possibility that it might well be mastered and pressed in Stereo. Assuming of course that the recording was done in Stereo, which it must have been. Checker and Cadet had already released Stereo singles by then. Of course this could all be b*llocks, but it makes sense to me !!
  17. Not convinced Stereo was such a new craze in '67. Westrex (WS) pioneered (I think) the Mercury System (MS) in 1958. I'd hazard a guess that the clue is in the fact that it has a CK mark in the run-out groove. Which to me would mean that it had more to do with the CHECKER process (pressing plant, etc). His previous release, "The Entertainer" had been a major hit on the Billboard chart and Chess/Checker/Cadet could have assumed that Landslide would do the same. Therefore, having the track mastered/plated and pressed up North, down South, East Coast and West. Wouldn't surprise me if there where other run-out variations that have a similar look and feel. Depending on how many they binned.!! [Removes Grandfathers anorak]
  18. If it's a legit re-issue it must have been re-issued in early 1969 or before as the Chess label changed to the Orange/Blue design you see on the Natural Fours-Devil Made Me Do It. With regard to it being a boot, you would definitely be right in saying it was a good one. Other than run-out markings it's identical to 4 other blue chess releases I got. Could it be the next Frank Wilson? If so, I'm not putting mine on the radiator!!
  19. Don't think it's a one-off Pete, as I got a copy with exactly the same run-out details. The reason I say "I don't think" is that I can't confirm whether it plays Stereo or Mono as my record-player doesn't have such advanced technology on it However, the plot does thicken a little as the copy I have is practically an exact replica of the one on the "RIGHT" of Rogers picture
  20. If you're asking what I think you're asking, the 1979 referred to is the Chess catalogue number for Tony Clarke - Landslide.
  21. Just a thought... might the "CK" indicate "CHECKER" which was part of the same label group. I know that some of the Checker LP's had CK xxxx etched in the runouts. Don't ask me why it might be the case though.
