  1. They're all drunks using the OG as in Original Gravity of fermented alcohol
  2. Always thought this had a Motown feel running through it.... Flirtations - Change My Darkness Into Light.
  3. Just a quickie question. Is the UK Sevens release the only way to own "Eddie Holman - Where I'm Not Wanted" on vinyl? Ta for any info.
  4. I'd hazard a guess the Yvonne Baker/Dee Dee Sharp's are being raised by shill bidding. Imagine they got 10 or 20 of 'em to sell, bump one or two up in price and then hope that a few unsuspecting punters buy their next listings for £9.99 or whatever they list 'em at. Put it this way, if I put one of them up at a start price of 99p, I'm pretty certain I wouldn't get much more than a quid for it.
  5. 40 Original U.S. Soul 45's. Auctions now finished. https://www.ebay.co.u...&_sop=12&_rdc=1 Many thanks to any of you who took the time out to have a look and to any of you who made a bid, thanks again.

  7. Literally just took this pic. for a sales listing, so here ya go Dennis.....
  8. AUCTION NOW FINISHED - Thanks to all those who checked them out and special thanks to those who bid. A selection of 26 original Soul 45's....... https://www.ebay.co.u...0&_sop=1&_rdc=1
  9. There appears to be quite a lot of posts, on this page in particular, that are laying the blame for this on the punters. By using the excuse that they don't care. It isn't the punters that play the records or organise the event. If there's blame to be attached to it, it lies firmly at the feet of the promoters and dj's. Regardless of what the punters want to dance to, it is the dj that spins the record (or puts the cd on or even double-clicks the mp3 ). And it is the promoter that encourages thus. So let's not start knocking the unsuspecting punters for creating this situation, who are afterall, just out for a good night. Unfortunately, you are correct with this Tony.
  10. I have dj'd as a regular at Orrell Soul Club for the last 2 years and as a guest at a number of other North West venues and always play original records. I would never buy anything else other than an original record. There are 1000's and 1,000's of original records out there that I will never own but fortunately, I know of the Dj's that do own them and will pay the door charge to support them and the venues they play at. Isn't the real issue about the playing of boots at venues more a case of whether the promoter or DJ's knowingly do it with the intention of attracting unsuspecting punters to their venue for financial reasons? And the knock-on effects that it has for other venues that don't? Don't shoot me, it's only a question!!!
  11. What about "Detroit Soul" of "All Of My Life" fame? Where they black or white? Definitely has a blue-eyed feel to it for me.
  12. What Phil said. I'd expect to hear the same as Phil. I think the general cross-section of replies on the thread reflect exactly why the phrase has become commonplace to describe a Soul event and why the boundaries (if there are any anymore) have become clouded. Back in the 70' you would expect it to be mainly oldies as that's mostly all there was anyway but as Steve L says above... a can of worms
