  2. Just found out there's a track called "Don't you worry" on a 45 as well, Checker 5068... must be the same H
  3. Anyone of you know the Soul Stirrers LP track "Don't you worry" from their "The Judgement" LP? Not half bad, a lot of the ingredients for a trad. northern stomper. And no, it's not too far in gospel territory. Anybody playing it? I've only seen a white cover promo LP but here's a picture: >clickedyckick< Heikki 1
  4. All time fave "Investigate", but yesterday the postman brought a copy of "Sometimes I wonder" on OKeh... sublime! Heikki 1
  5. What about Clyde McPhatter's "Please give me one more chance" Decca 45, was that real Mr Potts? I just typed Melvin Davis and Jackpot on google to find out more and I got a list of Michigan Lottery winners with a certain Melvin Davis from Detroit on the list. Wonder if it was the one we know? 6. You're confusing with something else I'm afraid, Christian H used to run a fantastic club in Gothenburg but they've just lost the venue. www.northernsoul.nu is a good place to look at Nordic soul events (pun intended). There are a few things going on in Finland as well but can't say anything about the summer yet. The Stockholm mini-weekender, Wiman Casino, is highly recommended, it's in late May. Check out the web page. Heikki 1

  10. J.O.B. Orchestra LP track - not very good either Heikki 1
  11. Is it just me but didn't they play a lot of sh*te in the old days? Just an opinion, but musically the scene must be better now. I'm with Noss on "It'll never be over", Baby Washington's better. I danced to Paul Anka last saturday at my local soul nite, when the atmosphere is right the record really kicks ass! Heikki PS. We need more opinions from the "white is shite" or "I wish i was black" brigade?

  15. Can you please let me know a sensible value for Marva Whitney - Ball of Fire - King. Thanks Heikki 1
  16. Just bought it off Butch last Saturday, value is £150 tops. Can't wait to play it over here in Finland, just the kind of sound the kids here like, heavy Northern Soul with a touch of Funk. The label is Sonic by the way. Heikki
  17. Dean Anderson definitely played the male vocal to "Upper hand" at the Stockholm weekender last May. Also heard the male vocal to "Oh yeah yeah yeah", not very good M-O-R pop sounding vocals. Andy Rix played the alternate vocal to Sam Fletcher, very "white" sounding too. Heikki
  18. Me and a friend of mine Heikki 2 will be playing some soul sounds at a very trendy bar/restaurant and decided to call the night "Crossover goes Cross-kitchen" just to wind everybody up, including ourselves. Let's hope the yuppies won't choke on their lattes. Heikki 1
  19. Satin - Your love's got me - Shell Lee Moses - Bad Girl - Musicor Ray Pollard - The drifter - UA 'Nuff said, won't even try to comment these.
  20. You can pick up pretty much anything for $5 on non soul sites if you're lucky, for example Adventurers on Compass and Bobbie Smith were my finds when I had more time to look thru them. Okay I'll let it go for £25 then, but I'll be checking the prices if you ever do sales lists Simon
  21. Cheers mate, I'll buy you a pint when I see you if somebody buys it on your recommendation It's on Flynnys playlist a few years back so it really was played, mucho to my surprise as well.

  24. Blenders - Tale of sadness - DJO
  25. Yes at around '73 when I was about minus five years old I remember me and some other scene leaders brought some rules to the scene for example the one that allowed only men on the dance floor during certain records. This should be brought back LOL. No no... just an observation, during certain records with a macho factor there are mostly bald ugly blokes on the dance floor. But I'm not a big fan of swirly skirts by the way but the 'fashion' thread is elsewhere. Mr Santucci should explain it since he's championing this term a lot, but since stompers can be even pretentiously happy as well (yuck) so it's not that. The aggro content comes from the agressive feel & emotion of the record... Capitols - I got to handle it... Parisians - Twinkle little star, Clifford Curry - Ain't no danger, Jackie Paine - No puppy love, Lee Rogers - How are you fixed for love... get my drift? Heikki
