so why is this record not given the acclaim it deserves?
The guy can’t sing, he’s out of key, 2nd half of the song he’s out of time, terrible lyrics, amateurish musicians, it’s a catchy tune at best, I read JM’s listing in amazement that someone with his reputation could big up a tune that’s so bad, definitely rarity over quality, that’s my opinion for what it’s worth, and I do like marmite

Went to a few of the Ritz Revival all dayers in the early 80,s, usually the Sunday before a bank holiday Monday and somewhere in my loft I’ve some photos and a couple of C90 tapes that friend of mine (Janice Thorpe from Leigh) did from the balcony. From what I remember lots of jazz funk and whistles, remember hearing king tutt- you got me hung up, for the first time there.

also contains the wonderful potent love
Hey Dave, thanks for that , had a listen today, to the whole album, potent love is indeed a great track, as is the whole album, gonna have to get one now, think I might have got the last 45 your mate bob was selling so played both versions back to back, leroys vocals just edge it for me , more smooth and polished but still enjoy the other one non the less, would imagine it sounds great on a big system, thanks again......ohil

This might be what you're thinking of:
It was released in 2004 on US Hip-O label, sold out quickly and went for stupid money. It was re-released in 2012 and fetches more reasonable sums.
The 2 earlier Hip-O compilations of Motown solo LPs with b sides and unreleased tracks are now in 3 figures, with volume 1 harder to find:
That’s the one, thanks for the info 👍
