  1. Just a bit of fun Ady, glad you enjoyed it Hope to be back very very soon, maybe even see you at Cleethorpes if we get back in time from our holidays
  2. I need to have a word with you simon regarding your toilet habits You can't keep using Shell shock as an excuse. The 100 club toilets were out of bounds for a good half hour after you had been in. You don't do it at home so why when your out
  3. Simon really has said it all and the 100 club has now become my favourite nighter. Great mix of tunes on the night of about 75% of which neither myself or simon recognised, which is a good thing. I've always had a tremendous welcome and a genuine pleased to see you look in the eyes of Ady and Trickster and all the Southern Soulies who just love us Northerners. Trickster has become a genuine mate to both myself and Simon, however, his toilet habits leave alot to be desired. Let me explain. Trickster didn't wash his hands when he'd been to the toilet. Now, given the current state of the world, this might seem like a small thing, but I don't think it is. It's a matter of private and public health and it's up to us as Yorkshiremen to get the soap and water going and then stand by those industrial strength driers and go "aaaaah by gum" with satisfaction. It doesn't take long. It's a civilised thing to do. The trouble is, I don't really know what to do. Trickster is a lovely bloke but I got so angry that I said, rather too loudly: In my best Pearly King "Why didn't you wash your flipping hands?" He looked at me like I'd questioned his choice of clothes or his choice of haircut. Somehow it's all part of that male mindset that makes a lot of men think they're invulnerable and that somehow washing their hands makes them less masculine. Trendy 'London' types might scoff at this but I'd ask them to come to the 100 club with me and see how many chaps wash their hands when they've been to the (admittedly often less than luxurious) facilities. I would put a poster up, I suppose. You could have a TV advertising campaign showing Ady as a role model scrubbing and drying. "Hi, I'm Ady Croasdell and I always wash my hands. And I dry them too." Doesn't sound that dynamic, does it? And I guess it wouldn't wash (ho ho!) with any non 100 club fans. So, in the end I'll have to persist with my attempt to publicly shame these people by posting on soul source. I might get told that it's up to people whether they wash their hands or not and it's none of my business. I'm not bothered; sometime in the future there'll be a tipping point when more handwashing than non-handwashing is taking place, and then they'll erect a statue to me outside 100 club toilets, which is a kind of fame. Until then, keep watching for me by the sinks and on CCTV.

  6. A|lways in the minds eye is the picture of an event thought worthy of recall- some moment, some incident, time passing when one split second froze the mind. Time after time, the picture will return, from how things were to how they could be. Time after time the two are re-adjusted until both collide. But in each re-adjustment, what is wanted is something which secures the meaning. Words entwined, become on word, Burnley, the Bat Cave and Karl Heard.
  7. Amazing news Can't wait to return to the bat cave and walk once again amongst the children of the night
  8. Not exactly 45 more like 48 but imberboy is the fastest i've ever seen, he he
  9. Excellent choice What about: Slim Harpo - Thats why I love you
  10. I've come to the conclusion that i'm at odds with everyone else on this scene I can't understand for the life of me, how no one has mentioned Junior Wells. He is surpassed only by his mentor Sonny Boy Williamson. Junior Wells crossed over to R&B/Soul with devastating effect. Checking on my Baby Party Power I cant stand no signifying I'm gonna cramp your style Are just a few which I own, but there are more. I'm not suprised I'm dissilusioned with the scene since old Burnley and Middleton finished.
  11. All sounds good to me, never been to Paris so deffo up for this
  12. I totally agree with you Mace It's time we all grew up and pulled together for each other, cos I for one do not want to lose the nighter scene. chalky, i do like lifeline, Ive been to the stables and even way back at sheridans. Keep up the good work and lets all of us move forward and support each other
  13. I was at the 100 club that night, not only did I love the record I loved the whole night. I was at Madame Jo jo's the night before to see Keb, been twice now and absolutely love that place, refreshing and vibrant. If you want to see how to get young people enjoy music from rockabilly to funk and everything inbetween, but quality uptempo dance music, then look no further. By the way, Butch is a fookin cool dude
  14. After having spoken to Johnny fingers at the 100 club recently I hope he and the 'move on' boys turn their club into an allnighter. Even it's only 4 or 5 times a year, cos judging by their playlists i will have found my new allnighter church at least it won't be run by some smug puffed up pigeon
  15. Burnley was a beacon in a f***ing sea of mediocrity It did and still does set the bench mark, The bar has been raised so f***ing high by Burnley. Burnley was about the dancers and all the dancers on the scene loved Burnley, end of. Now all of you go polish your records and stop touting your pathetic little ego's
  16. Phil I totally 100% agree with you And I thought this thread was about the state of the nighter scene and not some plugging session for f***ing soul nites
  17. save one for me James
  18. The temptations - I wish it would rain Sunshine, blue sky, please go away, My girl has found another, and gone away With her went my future, my life is filled with gloom, So day after day, I stay locked up in my room I know to you it might sound strange, I wish it would rain (oh how I wish that it would rain) Oh yeah, yeah, yeah Cause so badly I wanna go outside (such a lovely day) Everyone knows that a man ain't supposed to cry But listen, I got to cry, cuz crying, ooooooooh, Is the pain, oh yeah Yeah you know people, this hurt I feel inside, Words, they, could never explain, I wish it would rain (oh how i wish that it would rain) Oh let it rain, rain, rain, rain (oh how i wish that it would rain) Ooooooh baby Let it rain (rain, rain) Oh yeah, let it rain Day in day out, my tear stained face Pressed against my window pane I search the skies, well, desperately for rain Cause rain drops will hide my teardrops and no one will ever know That I'm crying (crying) crying (crying) When I go outside To the world outside my tears I refuse to explain, I wish it would rain (oh how I wish that it would rain) Rain, rain, rain (oh how I wish that it would rain) ooooh baby Let it rain I need rain to disguise the tears in my eyes Yeah, You know I'm a man, I ain't got no pride, Til it rains, I'm gonna stay inside, Let it rain, Let it rain Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... Oh how I wish that it would rain... I cry buckets everytime, but I just can't stop myself from listening to it.
  19. Northern Soul to me probably means something totally different to everyone else! but then isn't that what we are all about Free spirits, people who have never run with the crowd, always felt that bit different to everyone else. Especially when we growing up and even more so now, even amongst our own peers
  20. Well said that man , I totally agree I can't fookin wait for a taste of honey
  21. There already exists a perfect allnighter for ME, it's at the Falcon in Burnley. The resident DJ's and guests provide an eclectic mix of music which suits MY taste. So as long as Burnley exists I have MY Perfect allnighter long may it continue
  22. I hope to god, Burnley never gets run this way
