  1. Thats exactly what I would guess as well, seen it with my own eyes
  2. It won't be the first time Lap tops have been used and it certainly won't be the last, it is what it is and it probably didn't pretend to be anything else. Lots of big name 'DJ's' are doing it, obviously a market for it
  3. Will be interesting to read your playlist, as a lot of soul night playlist read like the back a soul collection from a 90's cd. once again, good luck
  4. Northern soul scene is alive in the present because we are alive, not so sure we will leave a 'legacy', not sure in 50 years time when we are all gone, that the Northern Soul scene will still be here. 3 cheers for past and present, but 'Legacy', not so sure. Perhaps another debating point
  5. Although not quite a teenager in the late 60's early 70's Motown influenced me greatly However, it was the Small faces, Humble Pie, Free, Ten years after, Taste then Rory Gallagher which became my main interest Going on my own to sheffield city hall from Barnsley at 13 to see Wishbone Ash and Rory Gallagher, this then lead me to finding original american artists like Sonny Boy Williamson, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells etc, then Northern soul, 2 tone and Ska got thrown into the melting pot, but i'm really a Blues Boy at heart.
  6. Excellent set, not fair to pick any out but Emanuel Laskey what a tune
  7. In a nutshell
  8. I asked a similar question last week, concensus of opinion was that, if it's a legitimate pressing it's ok. However same qustion asked on a different forum lat year and I got a completely different answer. Basically go with what you are comfortable with, I tend to go with original, be it 12" or 7" and leave the legitimate pressings alone, but thats just me. ATB on that one
  9. Moved to newark 2 years ago and got to know the boys this year, Ride mainly with Armed forces scooter club
  10. 14 of us from Newark for scarboro in same hotel, just do b&b's mainly these days, know what you mean about the tower, Knackered my suspension at I of W last year, make no wonder I fell off
  11. Hi mate If weather good will probs ride through on the saturday just for the day as it's not far from Newark. Got scarboro and cleethorpes booked up so far for next year, will fit in more as the year progresses. atb dekka
  12. Maybe worth a call and try and get the boy a set, like I say i'm sure he will be far happier with scoot scene
  13. It's a scooter rally mate 17th November. My advice is stick to the scooter rallies, (nationals and regional) more friendly, more respectfull, better etiquette, Great mix of music and people (No handbaggers, bandwagon jumpers,) outsider piss heads trying to take the mick would soon be dealt with, rapid. Local soul nights can be clicky and snobby, choose wisely and be among friends. Otherwise, good luck
  14. Shame about the Scooter, what happened did you have an accident? Good luck and maybe see you DJ on the scooter scene, a lot friendlier than the soul scene
  15. Pretty conclusive what everyone thinks then. Guess i'm wrong. I stand corrected Least I was right with my original thoughts, until swayed on here by others, oh well live and learn
  16. Singles released retrospectively from albums, 'cashing in' are and I don't care how you dress them up are Boots.
  17. wasn't talking about unreleased, read the post Talking specifically about retrospective i.e popular album track being pressed 'booted' as a single
  18. But that makes it original vinyl, thats my point. fat possum LP was released in 1998, that is the original, pyramid is a boot
  19. Not too long ago I argued the toss that Johnnie Taylor - Blues in the Night - Stax was not a boot It was released officially by stax in 2006. I conceded the point as it was retrospective it must be a boot. I immediately bought the album. R.L Burnside has had a release of 'it's bad you know' on Pyramid records someone is selling this record for £50 I immediately flagged it as a boot. Pikeys dog argued that it isn't a boot and immediately cited kent etc. I say all records that are not original vinyl are boots, anyone else agree. After all would you play out kent, Grapevine etc at an OVO event, I certainly would not
  20. Any one can press a record in retrospect. It's a Boot
  21. Mate I can well believe it, don't know whats worse the shit you talk or the shit they sell Hope your well Kev
