  1. Harry, Betty performed at the Northampton weekender in 2006 along with Pat & Diane Lewis. They sang together as the Adorables and then she did "Say It Isnt So" on her own! Apparently it was the first time she had performed the song since she recorded it as a 16 year old, at first she was a little scared I think and struggled a bit but after about 20 seconds the crowd stared singing and that lifted her. Just been looking for a photo to post up but the only one I've got of her is a bit dark and you cant see her very well. I've got nice pics of me with Pat & Diane cos they came into the bar area after the show but Betty didnt, I think she might have been overwhelmed by it all. Shame I would have loved to have a photo with her
  2. I still do it Pete, usually on my lonesome though Why, I've no idea -its something I grew up doing and couldnt stop if I wanted to! Great podcast, just before I started going
  3. Put my name on the list as well! When I was selling my old pressings around 3 /4 years ago I got £6 for my Little Joe Roman on ebay Just shows how these things are up & down
  4. Has the scan disappeared Andy? Cant see anything
  5. Pretty good, better than most similar attempts. One or two minor points I could pick but nowt's perfect Also look forward to Elaines film, that should be good judging by what I've seen so far Merry Xmas
  6. Quite correct, there were quite a few of us
  7. I'll try mate The programme is on at 10pm by the way just checked on bbc website
  8. What time is it on? For or against, you have to watch/listen to these things
  9. What about people who list records without giving a grade? Seen it a few times
  10. Cleethorpes weren't running all nighters in 78/79 were they?
  11. The light you look at the record in is critical IMO, the room where I keep my records has a 3x50w halogen light fitting and under that you see every possible mark. However in the other rooms where there's ordinary light bulbs the record can look completely different, also in bright daylight its different again. Minefield really, as someone who only buys M- whenever possible I'm finding my range of sellers shrinking through experience. I've had (supposedly) M- records that looked like someone had skated over them
  12. Yeah I've been listening to the podcast Chalky. This is one of those records that float around in your head for a bit when you first hear it then one day - bang! It hits you how good it is. What a record!! Any more comments people? Is it not that widely known? Who else has played it out ( I know Karl Heard has)?
  13. Heard this over recent times out and about but was curious about the background on it. Unissued I believe so what are the ones being played? Where, when, who etc any info appreciated
  14. Thanks Ste
  15. Spot on mate
  16. Yes mate, time to start the movement Year zero starts on Jan 1st
  17. A proper venue for me is one that keeps with the original ethos of the scene ie underground exclusivity, a rare soul scene NOT watering the whole thing down to the lowest common denominator to attract as many outsiders in as possible. Anything else is just handbags. Beam me up Scotty
  18. Prepare to be totally confused Here's my opinion - crossover is late 60s/ early 70s that cant be easily classed as either. The Futures is just out and out 70s disco isn't it? Loads of threads on this subject before, just searching for them would be easier
  19. Absolutely spot on, but to great soul records at proper venues with the right ethos
  20. Are there any clips of this anywhere? I havent heard it yet
  21. Absolutely nothing should preclude anyone. BUT what shouldn't happen is the ethos of the scene being diluted to accommodate anyone and everyone. Here's the door, come on in if you like and enjoy yourself - but this is how it is.
  22. Like chalk and cheese though, Tamboo is the one Andy
  23. Make every attempt not to see it mate, its not worth the trauma
