Why would anyone complain about you playing original vinyl? The other way round yes but this is a new one on me

Theres a previous thread bout this John if you do some searching around. I think the consensus was that this was an 80s pressing. Its strange that JMs book doesn't mention it

My first exposure to northern was in the summer holidays of 74 at our youth club and one of the first records I've always associated with that time is The Same Old Thing instrumental by Fred Smith Orchestra. However John Manship's site has this down as a 76 pressing (which should be accurate with the delta number) Was this played on anything before Soussans pressings were sent over here? Is my memory playing tricks on me? Was it played pre 76? Any memories of this appreciated

I remember a thread from a few years back where doubt was cast on the legality of some UK label 60s issues that had always been thought of as cast iron legit. A can of worms indeed, I suppose 100% certainty isn't possible in any of this.

Been listening to some 70s cds in the car lately for a change (mainly a 60s person) I started to wonder why the trend towards longer record times came about, what were the writers thinking and why change? Irrespective of your taste and whether you like these records or not some of them go on for so long and are so repetitive, doesn't it do your head in after a bit? So what I'm asking really is even if you like the 70s records doesn't it get on your nerves after 4 mins or so? Give me 2mins 30secs, wham bang thank you ma'am any time!
