Burnley Allnighter Podcast - Now Up On Soundcloud
I (probably) was there Terry and I'd still like to hear all those records again, nowt wrong with that. I'll be able to nail some of them that I didn't know at the time so educational for me, all part of the never ending learning curve that this is

The First "beat Ballad"
It was played at the Wheel apparently Chalky, much to my surprise when I found out. As with other tags/labels it seems theres some differences to peoples definition of what a beat ballad is
-
The First "beat Ballad"
Yeah but like benji says the Artistics isn't a beat ballad
-
Little Eddie Taylor
When was this first played/known?

Would I Be Shot For Requesting = Mercy By Duffy
Actually I was thinking more along the lines of something like death by a thousand cuts would be more appropriate

Would I Be Shot For Requesting = Mercy By Duffy
Being shot would be too quick and clean

O.v.o And C.r.&.p Venues
A timely resurrection of this thread with the new one about a venue closing because of people moaning about an OVO policy being introduced

O.v.o And C.r.&.p Venues
you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself, I'm never speaking to you again

Smooth Soul Closes
Why would anyone complain about you playing original vinyl? The other way round yes but this is a new one on me
-
Montclairs - Hung Up On Your Love - Paula Mislabel
Theres a previous thread bout this John if you do some searching around. I think the consensus was that this was an 80s pressing. Its strange that JMs book doesn't mention it

Fred Smith Orch
OK Roger I just assumed it was a monarch pressing, so much for that theory
-
Fred Smith Orch
Can anyone post the delta number? (the soussan pressing) then we can date it?
-
Fred Smith Orch
Jesus, I've just thought in two years that will be 40 years for me
-
Fred Smith Orch
I know its not kosher but I still think its a great instrumental
-
Fred Smith Orch
My first exposure to northern was in the summer holidays of 74 at our youth club and one of the first records I've always associated with that time is The Same Old Thing instrumental by Fred Smith Orchestra. However John Manship's site has this down as a 76 pressing (which should be accurate with the delta number) Was this played on anything before Soussans pressings were sent over here? Is my memory playing tricks on me? Was it played pre 76? Any memories of this appreciated

Al Gardner - Sweet Baby - Has A Box Turned Up?
I remember a thread from a few years back where doubt was cast on the legality of some UK label 60s issues that had always been thought of as cast iron legit. A can of worms indeed, I suppose 100% certainty isn't possible in any of this.
