  2. Shame Kev, I too would like to hear any reminisces about those times - cant think of any specific questions though. Maybe you should write a book
  3. Yeah I went to the palais one as well mate. Still got a copy of the Superlatives (yellow one) that I bought that night - funny how some things stick in your mind
  4. Yeah the demos are the only true originals, the pink issues pressed due to demand I believe
  5. Fully agree with your points but praise from people on tracks played from a cd compilation dont mean nothin'
  6. What makes you so sure you're not included in that statement?
  7. Well what an anti-climax after all the hype
  8. You need to get on Facebook, Teds tie showings are legendary
  9. Yes, hardly look at US ebay now compared to the past

    My place is booked

Its been said before Pete, if you haven't heard it at a nighter under certain "conditions" you haven't had the full benefit of it, it just blows the roof off. Having said that I think I heard it first on the internet and still liked it straight away. Cant understand how anyone could describe it as awful but we've all got different tastes

Yes very strange Anyone who doesnt like it must be 90% dead and extremeIy strange IMO No offence
  13. Exactly instead of travelling to hear something you couldnt hear anywhere else 40 years on and people doing exactly the same thing Sorry off topic
  14. I really dont know how he sells any records, all his prices are ridiculous
  15. No one was without guilt, even the legend that is Soul Sam played some awful records around this time No one's saying its a top class rare soul playlist Kev, just a snapshot of scene (and mine & Deans) history

    What a funkin' record
  17. You're wasting your breath (fingers?) mate
  18. Only play records that you like and would dance to
  19. As has been said many times before most oldies DJ's are fixated with the period 72-75 (ish) When I started going to nighters in 78 most of the crowd from this "golden age" had disappeared, to return 20 years later - anything that happened and the records played during their absence doesn't exist for them. Anyway don't want to get onto that overplayed oldie of a subject
  20. Here's a few more from the above that I reckon haven't been played that much over the years: Carol & Gerri - How Can I Ever Find a Way Prince & Princess - Stick Together (lot's of requests according to RS) Johnny Hendley - My Baby Came Out of Nowhere Paula Durante - If He Were Mine Demures - Raining Teardrops Herb Johnson - I'm So Glad All worthy of plays at an oldies night I reckon
  21. Of course Pete, I think all the better records among those I listed were oldies at that time. Cant remember who was on on at the time I was recording, it was after searlings spot so Minshull or Evison maybe?
  22. Havent heard it played out for a long time!
