Do You Feel Sorry For Northern Soul Collectors Starting Out
Phil 99% of records bought over the last 45+ years relating to the northern scene haven't been bought to DJ with surely you know that? Most have been bought for the purpose of collecting and playing at home, whats wrong with that?

Ann Perry - That's The Way He Is (Theoda)
Not heard at East Midlands oldies events very often if at all. Strange when they pride themselves on playing 100 mph oldies and they play most of the other big tunes from the same period as ann perry

Do You Feel Sorry For Northern Soul Collectors Starting Out
The point was made previously that buying records has always been expensive and that looking back in time you have to consider what earnings were and what money was worth compared to now. I was saying the same as you, you can't just use the figures comparing what money is worth between two specific dates to compare what a records value is on the same dates. If it worked like that you could buy a copy of the Invitations I quoted for less than a tenner which you quite obviously can't on todays market (unless you are extremely lucky)

Do You Feel Sorry For Northern Soul Collectors Starting Out
Exactly, the figures put up by Mikey are interesting but theres lots of other factors to be thrown in. Ive got some old Pat Brady lists from the early 90s and you could have bought an Invitations - Watch Out Little Girl on MGM for £5 which is £8.67 in todays money according to those figures. How much would you have to pay for one now? £150/200 ?

Jimmy Burns - I Really Love You
Thats roughly what I would have said, the reason I'm asking is I just heard someone on an internet radio show claim it was played at Va Va's. Late 70s was my prime time and JB was big then, would have been surprised to find it was played earlier but stranger things have been known

At The Top Of The Stairs -Formations
Listening to the record whilst reading the lyrics above (although they're not 100%) is incredible, it all sounds so clear! Before that I couldn't make out at least 70% of the words Is me or anyone else the same? Theres loads of records that I've been listening to for 40 years that I've no idea what they're singing, or maybe my ears are just f*cked

Would This Be Classed As An "inspired" Djing?
Inspired ? Not for me, I like the record and wouldn't mind hearing it under certain circumstances but not during a set of "underplayed gems & rarities" Wouldn't call it lazy under those circumstances either, just strange. But stranger things have happened
