  1. Ady the answer from me is a definite yes! The other points you make are quite valid, I've said for a long time there is a massive void between the top 500 oldies DJs and the upfront DJs who will only play rare records with a hefty price tag. A lot of the Kent stuff falls into this category and should definitely be played out a lot more!
  2. I remember berets being worn for a short period when I was youth club age, Didn't they get "banned" because of IRA/paramililtary connotations? Sounds daft now, how can you ban a type of hat, but thats how I remember it. They disappeared fairly quickly round here as I remember
  3. Unbelievable, the world is full of idiots
  4. I'm glad you didn't mention my name as, obviously, I was looking as cool as…...
  5. No idea, & we don't
  6. Don't you just love articles written by someone who knows f-all about what they're writing about?
  7. 20 years ago you could have got it for £3 off Pat Brady's lists. It was in the bargain bin section which were all £5 but you could get 10 for £30. Still got the lists somewhere. More recently I got one advertised on here as M- for £30 about 5 years ago, it looked like someone had skated on it so I returned it thinking a nice condition one would come along soon……. needless to say, one hasn't
  8. I was going to post this, the backing track is so out of tune it sets my teeth on edge. Could have been a great record if it wasn't for this
  9. We've all got our own personal perspectives on these things, mine's from the point of view of a green 17 year old hearing at Wigan when I first went and for that reason the record will always have special place for me. I still like it and don't see any reason why you can't enjoy this and still be blown away by listening to Butch or Andy Dyson. Soul or not, I don't care
  10. Why? I used to when I was 17
  11. Sounds good, looking forward to seeing it
  12. The names Andy Lee & John Poole were inseparable round here for what seems to be forever. Cant believe its 15 years since this tragedy. RIP
  13. Me neither unfortunately… oh to turn back the clock
  14. I'm glad I wasn't there….tosser
  15. Jackie Day - Get to steppin' / Larry Banks & Jaibi - My Life Is No Better M- condition only played a handful of times… £50 plus £2.40 recorded delivery…paypal gift preferred SOLD
  16. Sean something thats always struck me about people who have such large collections, how many of your records will you never, ever play again? Do you ever think about that? I'd say it would be fairly large % If so, whats the point in having them? Any thoughts on this from others with large collections? I've got a very modest collection (less than 1000) and am going through them and recording onto iTunes in alphabetical order (seems to be taking ages and i"m only up to D ) and its struck me how many I haven't played in years
  17. Any details of this story Kev? Bought this as a green 14 year old and am always interested in the stories behind how such things ended up on the shelves at Syd Booths Still love it as well, another one generally overlooked by the oldies crowd over the last 15 years or so
  18. There was quite a few in our crowd, mainly due to the fact that in our area almost everyone did work in the pit so its always seemed appropriate to me. I can see what you're saying though
  19. Norman Jay, he knows what he's talking about! Plus WTF is Bill Brewster? Peter Stingfellow, Pete Waterman, Marc Almond ??? Pass me the sick bucket, load o' b*llocks as usual
  20. Or maybe a goodfellas style one
  21. I havent listened to that record properly for a long time, you really can forget how good some of these are
  22. Well its all about personal taste and opinions I know but scraping the barrel? You must be joking ? Great record Chalky had been playing it for a while before that Kev, I played it when I did a spot at bidds in 2010 - I bought it after being reminded of how good it was after hearing Chalky play it in the freestyle room at Rugby and at Lifeline some time earlier
