  1. Well that comment sums the whole thing up. You either get it or you don't, so if I were you I'd just carry on with what you're doing and stop trying to understand it. Not many people can come along late in the game and understand it, for the most part you have to have been there and part of it, many years ago to really get what people are trying to tell you.
  2. When has anyone ever needed permission to take a small sales box into a venue?
  3. Don't take it personally but you ned to try and understand that this kind of thing doesn't sit well with a lot of people. We all know that things aren't like they used to be and never will be again but a lot of the exposure that the scene has had over the years in the mainstream media has been embarrassing to say the least. As has been said, they usually ignore the "real" scene and portray a caricatured version of things that people don't like being associated with
  4. Got a lovely M- copy of this if anyone wants to make me an offer like the kind of prices being knocked about recently (one on ebay finishing later @ £114 now)
  5. Obviously pressings/2nd - sellers should state really
  6. Why does it have to be one or the other? Don't really understand the question...
  7. Yeah I got caught out with this, got my money back fortunately though - nothing's sacred…..

  11. Thats right mate, Vallances electrical shop in Mansfield had copies of Frank Beverley…..
  12. Rob's brother - a collector from mansfield. The LP is a self done white label job of unreleased motown tracks that had surfaced at that time
  13. A lot of people obviously think its an interesting subject (me included) All part of the scene's history
  14. It was awesome mate, i'd give my right one to go back and experience it again If the record isn't to some peoples taste fair enough but its one of the iconic tunes of our scene and one of my all time top 5 - "one of those novelty type records they played at Wigan"….. If you were there you were lucky IMO
  15. Get him to sign up on here, that would be fun…….

  17. The two girls look like they're dancing to different records…... 'Tis indeed a memory from the heady days of 1978….. one I wish I could forget
  18. “I feel good about it, because I’ve always wanted to play in London,” he says. Someone needs to tell Jock that Cleethorpes ain't in London…...
  19. Just bought one Mal, plays fine - the fall on my knees side has a bit of hiss on the run in & out but isn't too bad (Flash Records BTW)
  20. For one record please ?
  21. Those who dance near the stage must have cast iron eardrums, i'd rather be as far away as possible from the speakers
  22. Fantastic record, another one of life's mysteries as to why it's not more in demand ?
  23. Notts Palais all dayers (76ish), Larry Santos, Van Dykes, Tony Middleton - Paris Blues……. my first proper venue Wigan, Muriel Day - NIne times out of ten (played about 5 times on my first visit in 78)
