Digging around in some stuff that I picked up on a recent buying trip I came across a copy of Robert Tenard - Don't Stop / You Made Me Cry on FA-BO-LUS.
Both sides of this are pretty good but I can't seem to find out anything about this 45 or the label. I assume its the same Robert Tenard who did Gotta Get Goin on Fabulous.
Anyone know anything about the record and if it has ever been played?
Many thanks
Mark
I think there are 2 different green copies Baz, one supposed to be legal 2nd issue and the other a boot. I think there are different matrix markings but I can't remember which is which!!
Some people will pay strange amounts for what is openly listed as a boot

£42 for a Dynells boot !!
I've seen a couple of people doing this on Ebay recently. They seem to be implying that because they have (supposedly) been done in small numbers, are good copies and they have been upfront that they are boots that this somehow makes it alright. They may have been open about the fact that they are boots but how long will it be before they are sold on and some unsuspecting person buys them at a high price?
These guys are in it solely for the money and they are no better than the people who seem to be booting anything in sight. There seems to be an ever increasing number of people willing to go to any lengths to make money from the scene and it makes me sick. Some of these people are well known names on the scene and they are bleeding it dry.
Sorry about the rant but I feel dtrongly about this!!
Hi Kev
I've been looking for one for some time now since I heard Carl play it out. People tell you its not rare (don't they always?) and I've been quoted anywhere between £40 and £70 as a value.
Hope this helps

Ebay won't do anything unless they get loads of complaints. Be interesting to see how many complaints they get!
Is this a sign of the times, there are so many people booting anything they can. You get large promotors booting anything from Bill Bush to Hamilton Movement openly. I went to a weekender not so long ago and a well known record dealer was openly selling white label copies of current tunes. I asked him about it and he said that he had done " just 5 copies of each" as there was a demand.
There have always been people looking to line there pockets from the scene but I have never known it as bad as it is now.
Yes tis me!! Think you deff need to get on this guys case as he's on your manor. You'll have all sorts trying it on if this guy gets past the Trev and Jo soul patrol!!
Have been laid up with this bug for the last few days but if can shake it off planning to see you on Saturday.
Looking forwards to hearing some interesting tunes

I think a lot of people are happy to send cash without adding their name to a "roll of honour" as it were. I'll bet that there are a lot of people who have used and appreciate Soulclub that have sent money but don't feel the need to advertise it on here.
What would be a help would be if Atom could keep us informed as to the state of play and then if there is a short fall I'm sure there would be plenty of us who would dip into our pockets a 2nd time.

I think this is an important point Mike, that you have invited people to become involved in a responsible (mostly ) manner.
The sites that have struggled or dissapeared over the last few years such as KTF downloads, Soulclub, Northern soul music etc have all suffered apparently due to the cost of running the sites and also the time they require. I'm sure if people were aware of problems beforehand there would be no shortage of people willing to help out financially or with their time.
Since joining the site I have learned loads and also made some very good friends.
Thanks for the great job you've done.

Always like to finish with something soulful, so its usually:
Pearl Dowdell - Its All Over -Saadia or
Cynthia & The Imaginery Three - Thats What I Am - Big Hit
"I have to, 'cos I've only had 3 loves in my life, Derby County, Soul music and Sue, in that order, so you see why I've got to go home for a fortnight?".
She didn't quite kill me, but she - and mates - still ram it down my throat. But she's No. 1 now - only until we get rid of them on the board at Pride Park.
So have you got any good tips on setting up cartridges Stuart. I have a decent system and I change my stylus fairly regularly ( at least once a year...lol) but when I get a record that looks mint, jumping it drives me mad and I have wondered if its the cartridge or something else in the set up!!
Any tips would be appreciated, thanks. Mark
I've just had an email supposedly from Paypal stating that my account has been suspended due to multiple logins and asking me to confirm my password and login details. Theres a link https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_login-run
It all looks very proper but you can always tell if its a scam because if you click on any of the link buttons they don't work. They are blanks and don't take you anywhere.
Anytime you get anything like this forward it to spoof@paypal.com Their security will investigate it for you.

The Al Greene track is very good but can't remember when last heard it played out. I picked up a green and white Stateside demo of it about 10 years ago, if you get behind the record Col my copy will soon be worth a tenner, won't it?
Started in 73 but by the time I got married in the early eighties was starting to get fed up with some of the garbage being played. I stopped going away and just did the occasional local oldies do. Around 1993 I got talked into going to a Friday night at Bretby and it was like a brand new beginning. The quality of music being played by Chris Anderton (how could someone so young be so knowledgeable), Steve Smith, and others was fantastic. They were so open minded, anything went as long as the quality was good. Had some good nights since but I'll never forget those Bretby Friday nights.
