  1. I noticed the different numbers on the Ebay copy. Has anybody else got a copy with different numbers and are they dodgy or not? Mark
  2. Great oldie, whats the going price on this now? Not something you see that often. Mark

Hi Trev I know your'e a big fan of Richie Rosen , I paid him $80 for one of these about 8 years ago. I think I got a William Cummings in the same deal. Thats before he really lost the plot!! See you at the Wilton. Mark
  4. Moved from Derby to London a good few years back and as far as I know is still there.
  5. Just had a quick scan through and this one made me laugh, and I've just opened a big tax bill so I needed a laugh Random thoughts - Robert Mays Jr. The best things that I receive are the thoughts that come to me, when I am completely free and at perfect ease. When I stand in this little room, my thoughts do jell to great, for I find I am utmost at ease, when I urinate. Some of the others are very deep and thought provoking !!
  6. The book has about 40 poems all written by Bob. Some very deep stuff mostly about everyday life, and a couple about fishing !! Theres even one about falling for a girl. Can't picture Bob all loved up!! Don't get over excited about the Rams theres a long way to go. It's deffo better to watch than last year though!! Mark
  7. Hi Chris I been to Bobs store many times and always found him a good guy. Last time I was there he hands me a vinyl blank label record with hand written credits on it of Brenda Holloway. He reckoned it was old and came direct from Motown but it looked too new to me. When I played it it had On The Right Track c/w My World Is Crumbling. Often wondered where it did come from. Another time he gave me a book of poems he had written, I guess loads of us have a copy of that book. Sad news indeed. Mark
  8. From his last batch he sold 23 items worth just over $1000. If he gets half of it in he has a nice little earner. Even though he uses a PO box some collectors in Belgium must know him. He's done this several times and it does reflect on all Belgium sellers because most of us are extra careful now when dealing with anyone from that country. I did bid on 1 record which I won. When he sent me an email asking for cash payment I replied saying that I was suspicous due to what I heard. He responded a couple of days later saying that he would send the record and that I could send him the cash after the record arrived. Its not turned up a week later and perhaps he thought that would give him time until the cash turned up from some of the winners. Hopefully some saw what was put about him on the site and didnt send the cash but you can bet some did. Is'nt there a Belgium version of the Soul Police?
  9. I have played The Tears out a couple of times but when I'm at home it always has to give way to Linda Cumbo - Yesterday, Today and Tommorrow which is one of the wifes favourite records. The Tears gets loads of mentions but have never seen Linda Cumbo on Soul sauce thread as far as I can remember. Mark
  10. I sent an email to a friend in Belgium that I buy off and he has said stay away as hes dodgy. Apparently there have been numerous incidents of people sending money and not receiving their goods.
  11. Sent a few emails but had no responce. His details are: philippe henrioul - bp 10007 - 6000 charleroi - belgium Anyone know of him and if he is ok? Thanks Mark
  12. And DJ's that go out and get someone else's current big spin booted so they can DJ with it themselves should be hung drawn and quartered !! Went to a local soul night a few weeks back before Margaret Little was booted and heard a well known (ish) DJ play Robert Tanner and Margaret Little in his spot. He told me that someone local had done 6 back to back copies with those 2 tracks on them. I told him that I didnt agree with it and that I didnt think it would enhance his DJ reputation. His reaction was that only hardcore collectors would know and he was more interested in impressing the dancing punters. These DJ's are the people that really get up my nose !!
  13. I know its not the same as the boots where they scan the original label and paste them onto an old boot but I have just had a list from a major UK seller with 3 pages of boots at the back. I have seen this seller selling white label copies of current big spins at weekenders and told him I don't agree with it. His reply was that he keeps getting asked for said records so he's just filling the demand. Using that theory everytime JM or Anglo get a rare record in and get 20 enquiries for that record they should do some copies and offer them to fill the demand.
  14. Win I think earlier in the thread someone stated that selling is'nt illegal its the manufacture that is. That would explain why certain people are openly selling them as it is probably much harder to prove where the original source is.
  15. Mad Mick RIP One of the scenes real characters and greatly missed
  16. [quote name='tabitha m' date='Oct 11 2006, 04:12 PM' pos Loved the soul nights there , but could never really get to grips with the nighters for some reason, still went to most of em though , didnt want to miss anything. Got to agree with you Tabitha the soul nights were brilliant.Had some good times at the All nighters but will always have special memories of the soul nights. Having lost touch with the scene during the early 80's due to boredom and getting married I got invited to a soul night in 1991 and was amazed at how good it was. The music played by Chris and Steve was like a breath of fresh air to someone who had missed Stafford and had dropped out due to the quality of some of the stuff being played. That was the first time I met Chris and I can remember thinking "how can someone so young have such knowledge and good taste"! Good times Mark
  17. Sent an enquiry to Hall of Fame and received the below reply, I'm sure the name Becks has cropped up on here before !! Hi yes this one is fairly new prob about a year old. The manship usa guide theres a new one due october. the other manship guides are fairly new aswell. cheque is fine my adress is R HALL 137 CHURCH ROAD STRETTON BURTON ON TRENT STAFFS DE13 0HF thanks again becks
  18. I know theres always been people booting records but in the last year it feels like we're back in the seventies and almost every day theres something new been booted. I decided a while back not to put up any more scans of rare records because theres always someone looking to use them for the wrong reasons. It just feels that there are people around now that will go to any lengths to make money from the scene.
  19. Saw this on Ebay: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-ultimate-NORTHER...1QQcmdZViewItem Normally there is an indication of how many items are available but 2000 may have looked dodgy !! I've also just been advised that VIP radio will not be accepting any more requests to play "please let me in" and its also been banned from any KRL venue. Some people have no sense of humour Mark
