In my experience, the cardboard sleeves do damage vinyl, some of my records I've had in them 30 years, and they have loads of surface scuffs, so definitely make sure there's a paper sleeve inside to protect.

Paul I come from the same town as you, and think it's a fair question you ask. My contribution to this is to say that during the 70's footy violence, and inter town violence from my own experience were both rife. Coach loads of lads on stag do's in a town with a different accent would inevitably be involved in large scale disturbances. Some of these lads were soulies, some not. I've bought records from one of the worst (or best) hoolies in the country in our town. I've been to Blackpool Mecca and it's kicked of big time every week. Not all involved were soulies, many on the free bus went for the fight. Just a coincidence in timing IMO. most of my old mates are soulies and have at some stage been involved, but we come from a small feicely proud, and working class town mate. Not sure if it's the same nationwide, though Garv is from the South, so sounds likely. Best Dave

Out shopping in Leamington today, walked in River Island and instantly thought it was Billy Harner as background shoppin music, which incidentally I like. It wasn't Billy, it was a very different version. Anyone know what it was, or had similar alternative take experiences ???

Pete - many thanks for the tapes - magnificent memories refreshed I've had books out showing pictures to the family, then playing the incredible footage clapping by hundreds of people at least, all in unison, and absolutely brilliant tear provoking atmosphere that made so very special to those lucky enough to have made the trip - short, far or very far in some case. Hinckley have a low key affair on a Sunday nite, twice monthly. Like to chill Sunday nite really, before the dreaded monday morning, so have only made it the once. I totally agree and if there was something midweek in the Midlands I'd be there. A pub in Nuneaton did a wednesday nite one 6 months ago, but it's gone now.

Anyone know what the bar is called on Montechorro strip where northern is played every saturday, going very soon, on my stag do, and feel I must pay it a visit (with 8 non-soulies). I know a few on here have been, and have seen it listed in events, but no name of the bar.
