  1. Ballads - yes, that seems to be right. Thanks for the pointer to Manship's. I hadn't noticed it was there before I guess.
  2. No, it's definitely R&B they're after, and the closest I've come up with is possibly something close to Belgian popcorn, but that's not quite the sound. The guys who are buying it around here are very secretive too, probably for fear or rising prices.
  3. Can someone explain the island sound to me, referring to what some older Jamaican record buyers from New York, Miami, etc seem to be looking for? There are a handful of guys who frequent some of the same spots in Atlanta that I shop but I can't quite pin down what they're looking for.
  4. I think I do have a copy of this one. Lemme check.....will PM with a price if I do.
  5. My advise is to be very careful selling to this scene on ebay. Between fake IDs used for shill bidding, non-paying winners and Paypal chargebacks, I've experienced and heard of other horror stories.
  6. Fabulous Dinos - Instant Love / Retreat (Saber 1009) VG+ $150 + postage postage: $2.50 in the U.S. or $5 internationally. Paypal available. Also willing to trade for other Georgia-based R&B/Soul/Funk/Garage 45s
  7. I sold my copy a couple of years ago thinking I had another, but was mistaken. Haven't seen one since
  8. I need a nice copy of "Take Me Back and Try Me", not picky about wlp or stock, just as long as it's clean.
  9. Sent a PM. I can scan both of these for you now if still needed.
  10. Yep. I'm pretty sure that I got mine in Chicago at one of those shops on N. Clark St. a few years back. Anybody need a really nice copy before it gets put under the ebay microscope?
  11. Was just searching for info on this one myself after pulling a copy out of one of my boxes. https://www.soulmotion.co.uk/PrivateSellersPage1.htm Chris Anderton's price seems a bit different than Tim's. Who would you reckon is more accurate in this case? It certainly doesn't show up for sale in the usual places.
  12. That may well be the case. I had just recently heard of Ken Ball's name associated with the label. If it was Binns, and he is still around, I assume he might know Ken if my source is correct. Basically, I'm trying to get some research correct for a project I'm working on. Thanks, Simon!
  13. Posted this question yesterday with no answers so far. Does anyone have information about Ken Ball who possibly owned Grandville Records? He was a native of Valdosta GA.
  14. ok. probably going on ebay sometime this week then. I guess the funk board is down? I haven't been able to get there for days.
  15. Full MP3s, ripped at 80kbps so they're fine to listen to here, but not cd quality. I Can't Believe Top Going Down, Bottom Going Up The sounds you'll hear besides the music is due to the pressing, not scratches or scuffs. Those sound files were also made from my copy. The one for sale remains unplayed.
  16. Mint unplayed copy of I Can't Believe / Tope Going Down, Bottom Going Up on Soul-O $400 + $5 postage internationally or $2 inside the US. Or, Registered Priority at $12.50 internationally. Email vespa @ mindspring.com or PM if interested.
  17. Hey that looks familiar.
  18. Jimi Hendrix - In the Beginning SLP-502 Boot of the Brantley sessions with the Atlanta address and Parrot label
  19. That should be about right. I had always thought it to be $200.

    Lee Moses

Johnny Brantley was the producer, but he wasn't the only link between Moses and Hitson. They were introduced shortly after Hitson moved to Atlanta. But yes, I do think all of Moses's records were cut in New York. Hitson's Royal singles and everything from the Sweet Rose 45 on were done in Atlanta. The Minit/Atco records were not. Actually, the Atco 45 may have been Atlanta too. I'll have to check my notes.

    Lee Moses

Lee and Hermon were/are both guitarists and very good friends. I know they playe on stage together but not sure how much they actually recorded together since Lee's stuff was all recorded in New York.
  22. and the price is less than the one that just ended on ebay. $250 + $6 postage ($2 postage inside the US). Email or PM if interested.
  23. I just picked up a stereo pressing of this album in a collection last night but it has a different cover than the mono copy I've had for years. Was this the case originally or were they pressed at different times?
  24. Yep! On Crow and Capricorn.
