I think even 100 pounds is a little high, but you can maybe get that. 350 is ridiculous. This is a chicago record by the way.
Yep. I'm pretty sure that I got mine in Chicago at one of those shops on N. Clark St. a few years back. Anybody need a really nice copy before it gets put under the ebay microscope?
-
Was just searching for info on this one myself after pulling a copy out of one of my boxes.
https://www.soulmotion.co.uk/PrivateSellersPage1.htm
Chris Anderton's price seems a bit different than Tim's. Who would you reckon is more accurate in this case? It certainly doesn't show up for sale in the usual places.

I don't know anything about KB, but I thought Grandville records of Detroit was owned by Clifford Binns.
That may well be the case. I had just recently heard of Ken Ball's name associated with the label. If it was Binns, and he is still around, I assume he might know Ken if my source is correct. Basically, I'm trying to get some research correct for a project I'm working on. Thanks, Simon!

Posted this question yesterday with no answers so far. Does anyone have information about Ken Ball who possibly owned Grandville Records? He was a native of Valdosta GA.

ok. probably going on ebay sometime this week then. I guess the funk board is down? I haven't been able to get there for days.

Full MP3s, ripped at 80kbps so they're fine to listen to here, but not cd quality.
Top Going Down, Bottom Going Up
The sounds you'll hear besides the music is due to the pressing, not scratches or scuffs. Those sound files were also made from my copy. The one for sale remains unplayed.

252 - Freddie Terrell & The Soul Explosion Band - Soul Know How To Make Music / Respect Yourself - 1970
-
How many LP's were released on Shout? I know Freddie Scott had at least one.
Jimi Hendrix - In the Beginning SLP-502
Boot of the Brantley sessions with the Atlanta address and Parrot label
-
I agree I think it can still be picked up for a good price but surely the quality will not be ignored forever.
I would value it 100-150 myself.
That should be about right. I had always thought it to be $200.

Lee did the guitar backing on these Hitson 45s only. The link between the two was/is the producer whose name escapes me at present. Don`t know of any Southern made 45s by him, most/all were cut in NYC.
Johnny Brantley was the producer, but he wasn't the only link between Moses and Hitson. They were introduced shortly after Hitson moved to Atlanta. But yes, I do think all of Moses's records were cut in New York. Hitson's Royal singles and everything from the Sweet Rose 45 on were done in Atlanta. The Minit/Atco records were not. Actually, the Atco 45 may have been Atlanta too. I'll have to check my notes.
-
Not that easy to come by. The only ever spare I had I sold maybe a month ago on here. And no, I can`t let my copy go It may be of interets though that the great Lee Moses used to be the guitarist on some of the Herman Hitson tunes (recorded in Atlanta) which explains why there`s also a version of his classic "Bad Girl" by Mr Hitson.
Marc
Lee and Hermon were/are both guitarists and very good friends. I know they playe on stage together but not sure how much they actually recorded together since Lee's stuff was all recorded in New York.

and the price is less than the one that just ended on ebay. $250 + $6 postage ($2 postage inside the US). Email or PM if interested.

I just picked up a stereo pressing of this album in a collection last night but it has a different cover than the mono copy I've had for years. Was this the case originally or were they pressed at different times?
-
Someone did do a Dr Strangelove track, Arthur Ponder?
Yep! On Crow and Capricorn.
-
I might be ready to sell mine, but maybe I should play it again before I commit to selling....

Thats all I wanted to know - you could have told me that and avoided all this. Yes - you did tell me it had been shipped - then ignored any further emails. I dont know where to start tracking an item but you gave me no details at all - not even the company shipping it. And on the other side of things the money went out of my bank ok so am I just supposed to accept that its been shipped? You can see my point being that I had nothing to go on. I have no reason to lie and was looking forward to playing my records and ordering more. Dont think I'll take that chance again.
Denise, why don't I do this for you.... If there's anything on my new list which you'd like let me know and I will extend a credit to you for the amount of your wayward order. That way you can chance it again without putting out any further money. I'm definitely not in this to make enemies and piss people off. Maybe that way I can make this up to you.
-
Hi all, and Denise in particular. Where to begin....
I am the first to admit that I am not always the fastest when it comes to shipping packages. I did exchange some emails with Denise regarding her order and then yes. Lines of communication went cold on my end. That package was shipped. She asked for a shipping number that I cannot provide for a couple of reasons:
1. She did not request or pay for registered postage, so there is no tracking number
2. There is a number on the customs form, but this cannot be used for tracing packages through https://www.usps.gov - I send quite a lot of packages to the UK and I'm sure I can produce any number of USPS receipts that show a package shipped there but would that help put Denise's mind at ease? I don't think it would.
I have refunded people's money before when I know I've been at fault. That said, I know that right now I do owe money to a U.S. customer of mine for an order from June of this year.
So what is the fair and honest thing to do then? Am I supposed to refund money to everyone who says they didn't get a package? Is it necessary to require registered postage of all customers? Granted, this doesn't happen very often but if I in good faith sent something why should I take the blame for somebody else's mistake? Bear in mind that I am NOT accusing Denise of lying. I believe her if she says she didn't get the package.
I apologize for letting the communication go cold and am going to look at my old emails as I'm sure I told her that the package was indeed shipped. This may not be a fair card to play, but if nothing else, I have my ebay feedback to partially back me up, for whatever that is worth.
As to an ID change, I was probably registered here as 45rpm once and changed to agent45, which I also use on a number of other forums. I did not change it to hide, for if I did, I surely wouldn't be using my real name in the subject of this post.

Hey I have an extra copy of this one. I don't think the flip side "Girl, Girl, Girl" is in the best shape, but let me see what the deal is with condition. Drop me a note at vespa@mindspring.com if you're still looking for this!

A friend of mine just picked up two of these but I don't know which version he got. I passed your post along to him.
