  3. anyone manage to grab a label scan or sound clip of the Bobby Moore?
  4. I never really thought much of this as a dancer outside of it being uptempo, but really love the ballad on the flip "Pardon Me While I Cry". Great 45 all the same, and certainly doesn't turn up very often here in Atlanta where it's from.
  5. Gotta Find A New Love on Veep. Who's got one for me?
  6. I have an LP and three CDs of music from the series. If you can tell us what episode it was, I or someone else here should be able to identify it very quickly. I'll see where I put those CDs.
  7. Doesn't seem like one which would do much for a dance floor, but there is certainly some demand for it in my home!
  8. I have the utmost respect for John Anderson, but in this case he is mistaken or the story has become mixed up along the way. I just spoke to Ralph. The tracks for the Rajac 45s were cut with Skip McQuinn in Nashville (Skip, by the way, was also the drummer in Johnny Barfield & the Men from S.O.U.L.) and then the vocals were recorded at Sound of Birmingham. Ralph said that he used Junior Jackson just to "mix things up". But it is most certainly Ralph's voice on that record.
  9. I'm quite certain it's Ralph, who by the way, is a Junior himself. Why do folks think it's his son?
  10. Anyone know the value for the Junior Jackson 45 on Rajac? It's also Ralph, but not in the price guide.
  11. If you're in the Atlanta area on July 19, there's a fun night called Rhythm & Booze at a restaurant/bar called El Myr on Euclid Ave (Little 5 Points neighborhood). Very small room, eclectic clientele and lots of great music both common and obscure - very gritty in style.
  12. So then the stock copies should also look like this (but purple), right?
  13. Just picked these up on my lunch break today. Since they were just sitting on my desk, I thought I'd type 'em up and post 'em here. 14. I picked up a wlp of Okeh 7271 on my lunch break today and already have had a purple stock copy in my collection for years. I saw a reference to a "2nd pressing" today. What is the difference between it and a stock 1st issue Okeh 7271?
  15. They've consistently fetched ~$300. There was a small batch of them sold by one seller last year. I think his stock is gone. A friend sold one locally and topped $300 which was a bit surprising given the amount that have surfaced, but it has clearly held its value. I know a couple of people who were behind this 45, and still have yet to hear an explanation for the difference between the 4001 and 4002 issues. Both are original.

  17. There were three if memory serves. Ted Ross got $3700+ and $4000 for his two, run about 6 mos. apart, and then someone else who I've forgotten ran a lesser condition copy right around the same time as Ted's second copy. I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it. Regardless, I would say that Ted finding two was more or less extremely good luck for him since he found that old distributor stock. He's probably right when he said he found only two, as if there were other Tuska titles or other Buddy Cantrell, I'm guessing they would have found their way to ebay by now. I wonder how many copies of this are known to be out there in collectors hands right now? My copy was turned up in Memphis a number of years ago.
  18. Am I correct in assuming that the Lyric label issue was the local release and Paula was the national release for this 45? I'm guessing that there's probably no difference in the value of one over the other as well.
  19. I would think $30 or so.
  20. Last time I had an extra copy for sale was probably close to 5-6 years ago. I was able to sell them for $40 at the time, which I think is about what Nancy Yahiro used to get for that title too. Been a long time since I've seen one.
  21. If I like the track, that IS good enough, yes. However, if I'm reading sales lists and there are descriptions which I don't understand, I want to know what they mean to make me a smarter consumer. I'm not JUST listening to songs. I'm buying records too and want to be educated - what's wrong with that? The funny thing is that I had gotten some very helpful answers very early in this thread and moved on. I only came back today when I noticed it was still going and had grown to 4 pages. It certainly has gotten more entertaining (or sad, depending on one's view).
  22. This, along with Gareth's post makes perfect sense. Thanks very much to all.
  23. I see the term "two stepper" on sales lists from time to time and have absolutely no idea what this implies, or what it sounds like. I'm assuming this is a 1980s thing?
