  1. Has anything changed about shipping to Norway somewhat recently? I have an order from a repeat customer - address hasn't changed - and my shipping software is giving me grief about the post code. I've sent a message to the customer but thought I would check in here as well since I know there are some seasoned sellers here.
  2. I acquired a large collection recently with a large quantity of New Orleans records in it. I will keep my eyes open for this one for you.

  12. Basic question about this. Doesn't eBay automatically add the VAT to the invoices? I've always been happy to set low customs declarations since it means nothing to the United States shipper either way but I'm somewhat confused by what the experience is on the other end. Is eBay not charging VAT or are you getting hit twice, by eBay and again by customs on the same sale? I do know that Discogs charges the VAT expense at the point of sale.
  13. Housekeeping: Shipments within the United States will be free. International shipments will require one of the following: USPS International Priority, USPS First Class Registered, UPS or FedEx, with the rate determined by the size and weight of the package. These options are not the least expensive, but outside of the Johnny Barfield single, I am not interested in taking chances with any potential shenanigans with standard USPS First Class. Now, the good part.... click song titles for sound clips The 4 Dynamics - That's What Girls are Made For / Things That A Lady Ain't Supposed To Do (Peachtree P 129) VG $6500 Faint surface marks, very little background noise, some rubbing around the labels. Overall extremely solid copy. What is the rarest 45 on the Peachtree label? Eddie Billups? Either of the Sue Raineys? Maybe that one Johnny Jones? Well there's a strong case to be made for this one right here. And while Eddie Billups might like a word, a very strong case can also be made that this is the most sought after record on the fabled label. Johnny Barfield & The Men From S.O.U.L. - Mr. Starlight / Soul Butter (Peggy Sue 1002) VG+ $100 Really nice copy. "Starlight" side has a couple of long pull marks that are visible but not audible. Labels are same color, but goofy lighting when I took the photos is misleading. This mailman from Columbus GA put out a couple of fine singles. This one is pretty easy to turn up on the nationally distributed SSS Intl label out of Nashville, but we rarely see the local issue on Ed Mendel's Peggy Sue label. The Contacts - You Gonna Pay / Why Little Girl (Quadran QP-40001) VG- $250 Overall solid playing copy. "Why Little Girl" has a couple of scratches that do cause some ticks but no skips or sticks. "You Gonna Pay" more or less play grades VG+ A little more elusive than you might think, this one is always a pleasure to put onto the turntable, and I mean both sides. The hard as nails uptempo side is backed with a sweet side that sounds way too nice for the tiny budget that went into this recording. During my time in Atlanta, trashed copies would surface from time to time, but getting a copy that was worth playing in public was always tricky. Eula Cooper - Let Our Love Grow Higher / Have Faith In Me (Super Sound SS 702) VG $1100 Numerous light marks consistent with spending some time with no sleeve. Visually an argument can be made for VG- but this is a really solid playing copy. Light rubbing on inner labels and a stray pen mark on the A side label. An all-time Northern Soul classic from the teenage dynamo that Eula Cooper was when she recorded this one. Pedal to the metal Soul music excitement, and a squeaky bass drum pedal, too. The Velvetones - Funky Sweat Part 1 / Funky Sweat Part 2 (Peachtree P 130) VG $1000 Faint marks on the record, mild label rubbing, very solid playing copy. Another super-rare release from the later stages of Peachtree Records that deserves a spot in the conversation of Peachtree rarities. The band would go on to sell millions of records as The S.O.S. Band a few years later, but S.O.S. never hit as hard as when they were the preferred stage band for Henry Wynn's Supersonic Attractions tours.
  14. Emory Harris left the group and they changed the name at this time to the 4 Dynamics for the final single.
  15. The Dynamic Daiquiris - Kidnapper / Hurt Me So (Master W) NM presumed unplayed $350 + $10 postage worldwide (except Italy and Russian Federation, where I am not presently shipping records). Free postage to a United States address. I'm aware of the common customs question/request from UK buyers and I am sympathetic to that, so no worries there. Very rare Atlanta blue eyed soul 45. A side is a cover of Jewell & the Rubies "Kidnapper" and flip side is an original ballad "Hurt Me So" which should find favor with today's "low and slow" fans. I have made sound files from the copy I've had in my collection for years. daiquiris_hurt.mp3 daiquiris.mp3
  16. Carnival lovers, New Orleans lovers, lend me your ears, for Mardi Gras is less than a week away and you need to get yourselves ready.
  17. Calvin's involvement with that record very likely begins and ends with him recording/producing the songs at the studio he owned with Herb Lance. The money behind it was probably from the owner of the Pendulum Club (Calvin did perform there) but I don't believe that this is a record he put out (like the Scream / Church Door etc labels). Unrelated to GWS but for anyone interested, The Case Band was led by guitarist Harry Case and the Pendulum Club was a short lived spot which shone brightly during it's run for local Atlanta artists in its day. At a musical showcase put on to raise money for Barbara Hall's funeral some years back, Harry gave me a CD of live recordings from the Pendulum Club. Some fun stuff on there.
  18. Craig Moerer has a sealed copy if you don't mind ordering from the U.S.
  19. Charley Wynn - Action Time (Jim Gem) VG+ or better. Cash waiting, also willing to trade if I have something you could use.
  20. I-20 Connection too. I guess he's on a buying spree today.
  21. Aren't all bidders de facto "private" now anyway? All you see is something like d***8 and a feedback score, right? I mean, I suppose you may be able to suss an account by the feedback rating. The only time I see the word private on a listing, it's someone who has made their feedback private. Am I missing something? To a couple of the other points in this thread, I very seldom see bid retractions these days. If I list ~200 items a month, maybe I see one retraction every other round of auctions. I also get, on average, 1-3 orders per month that go unpaid. I usually don't offer to the 2nd high bidder, I just put the record on Discogs or re-list on eBay later. My success rate on second chance offers has been low for years, probably due to some of the trust issues expressed above, so I basically quit bothering. Maybe bad to say as a seller, but when I bid I don't use a sniping tool but I do wait until the last possible moment to submit my bid. I don't understand the posturing and incremental bids and treat a 7 day auction as 6 days of free/cheap advertising to get eyeballs, with one day of action. That said, I guess if a record starts getting early traction, it also might also help get more attention. I'm not an auction or marketing genius, I just like digging for records.
