A real GIANT gone. How influential was Jerry Ragovoy?. I can't go very far into the records on my shelves without coming across this name. One of the most prolific writers/arrangers/producers of all time. A very sad loss to us all. R.I.P. Jerry. Up with the angels now. God Bless. Kevin

I must say there's not much Dave Hamilton product not to like, but for me, at the moment it has to be this one. Pure bliss. I was talking to Gilly recently about how it sounds like he's playing milk bottles in a Detroit basement and Gilly replied 'he probably was Kev'.

I'll second that Val. It's a real accolade to the variety and breadth of Dave Hamilton's talent and his long and lustrous career...from the early Temple recordings, through the (classic what you'd expect from Mr Hamilton and his various partners) the likes of Pricilla Page on Topper and the sublime mid-tempo gem by JT Rhythm on Palmer with, of course, the bonus of Mike Terry's sax bubbling along throughout. Also thrown in is one I've been championing for a few years now Bobby Dee's chugging R'nB style outing on DemoRistic 'Sweet Thing Pts 1 & 2' . Quite a few unissued tracks here as well. Ortheia Barnes','Never, Never Leave Me' is very good :yes: as is 'I'm Begging You' by Chicago Pete :yes: The later tracks by The Moderations, Nightchill and New Experience are all quality sides. To top it off you have the instrumental of 'You Turned Me Around' and an edited version of Dave Hamilton's 'Soul Suite' just in case we forget that Mr Hamilton was steeped in Jazz traditions that made him a main player when helping set up Motown Records in the late 50's/early 60's with Berry Gordy Jr. Another Legend, another great cd from Ace/Kent. Great informative sleeve notes. This cd is a definite 5***** with more than a little something for all tastes. If you like good soul music I suggest you check it out. Job done. Best Kev
