  1. Stevie Wonder has made more great recordings than any of us have had hot dinners and his influence on modern music has been phenomenal. Kev
  2. Here's a few more Paul. Found em while playing some old albums this weekend. 'Can't Stand to see the Slaughter' Tower of Power-Cbs (One for the veggies) 'Fish Aint Bitin' Lamont Dozier-Abc Half Sister,Half Brother/Trigger Happy People- Barbara Mason-Buddah Kev
  3. If the said cheeky bugger hadn't even asked to look in your box I'd class that as trespassing. Cheeky sod.-no manners at all! Some people even ask record dealers if it's ok to look in their sales box at nighters. It's just plain respectful. When I think of some tunes I've had go missing when people went through my box years ago. Sandi Sheldon Freddie Chavez (issue) To name but two. Hands off I say. Kev
  4. Ahhhhh. Forgot about the Jades. Good shout Sean. One of the first Northern records I got into. Kev
  5. I stand corrected yet again. The quickest clap has got to be Tainted Love-Gloria Jones. Absolutely! Thanks for that-blast. Hope you feel better soon Pete. Shit when you've the Flu (and no more wise cracks Tony)
  6. I'd second that Jo.
  7. I tend to flick a hand out to the Modern stuff Russ. One that always gets me these days is: R Kelly -Up Outta Here. Just after the intro and before he starts singing IMO he should give out a growl, a sort of ouch! if you know what I mean???? It's not in there so I always put it in for him. R Kelly Top Producer (nah)-Should take lessons off us old schoolers. He missed a great marketing ploy there.
  8. Wondering what would be the timing of the quickest clap? Bit like the quickest goal of the day. i'd bet intro to The Skull Snaps 'My Hang Up is You' Kev Tony-You been playing Shirley Ellis 'The Clapping Song' again?
  9. That's right Russ. not being the best dancer in the world I miss the claps. IMO lot of tunes played today don't lend to it. Used to clap lots at the 100club up until the early 90's. Then we tended to put our shirts back on. Glad there's not many photos around. When the oldies come on though it's instinct. Can't help it. it's like singing 'beep beep' on the destination is you track by The Appreciations on a satalite or counting 4beats on 'We Got Togetherness by The Jewels.
  10. Dave I don't think the version by the Dynamic Superiors is the one used on the 'Warriors' film. If I remember it's a male vocal uptempo discofied version with lots of fuzz guitar and the version in the film is a female sultry mellow version.. I'll get Sam to check the credits. See u in Burnley next week. Kev
  11. Jo I always thought the Capitol copy was slightly harder to find. Seen lots more Sidra copies in my time than Capitol ones. So Real is absolute bliss of a tune. Kev
  12. Nev, I think the answer to your puzzle is this: The well known dj's play the rare as.... stuff simply because THEY CAN! Simple as that I think. Although they do sometimes slip in cheap quality. Kev
  13. Got to say for me it was pobably J.J. Barnes at Wigan as this was the first time I'd heard a black man sing live. Awesome! Then Chuck Jackson at Yarmouth was great. All the acts at 100club including Betty Lavette, Terry Callier, Ray Pollard, Maxine Brown, Hoagy Lands, Dean Parrish. But two great ones were The Masqueraders at Prestatyn. Lou Pride at Prestatyn in the Modern Room. All great acts...love seeing live ones! Kev
  14. Phew got it at last! Took a while though.
  15. Quality yet again. Picked mine up Jason. Always read it from cover to cover in one go. Lots to take in...But wouldn't want to miss anything. Being a fan of Al Johnson I was suprised to learn he'd been the lead for The Uniques......and Wouldn't it be Something if Ady C could persuade Lou Johnson over to these parts. Full House at 100club me thinks! Keep up the good work. Many Thanks Kev
  16. Anymore underplayed Gems you've got in mind Simon? I'd throw in The Jewels 'We got togetherness' haven't heard that for years. By the way I enjoyed your spot @Boogaloo a while back. Kev
  17. Vaginia not Vagina! Are you deaf!
  18. It's all in the game Pete. Glad it tickled you. Kev
  19. Pulled my Chuck Jackson off the shelf a few years ago and it fell into two pieces....OUCH!.....one less now. Managed to get a replacement off Kieron for 5 pouches of Golden Vaginia....
  20. Kevin is the most handsome man in the entire world and such a sensitive lover. The Moore family is a great looking family. Proud to be a part of it. Imogen Moore.
  21. Quite right Dave......good looking as well aren't we!
