  1. I've just listened to half a dozen and technically they are incredible ... I certainly couldn't do anything like this ... and like many I'm not a huge fan of 'messing around' with 60s Motown tunes ... but these mixes bring out so many individual elements of the recordings that they become somewhat addictive. For something to listen to at home they are brilliant ... just amazing Andy
  2. Are these extended mixes available anywhere to listen to ...... I find such things quite intriguing thanks Andy
  3. I love stuff like this Nice one Dave Andy
  4. The featured version of the Fantastic Puzzles - Come Back - is a different take to that issued on the New Moon 45 .... not much different but the vocal is certainly an alternate take ..... one of my fave tunes from the 70s Andy
  5. I'm just waiting to hear from Dennis .... I'll let you know what he says when he gets in touch Andy
  6. When this thread first started I contacted Joseph Anderson, who alongside his brother Stefan, are the Anderson Brothers as featured in the picture They have soulful connections as detailed here .... https://www.geocities.jp/hideki_wtnb/anderson-bros2.html Stefan did record 'You're In Love Child' for Crazy Horse .. which got some spins years ago ... but with regard to the GSF 45 Joseph basically said "It's not us ... we know nothing about it" So I wonder who it is then Andy
  7. That's my recollection as well .... first spun by JM as Lenny Curtis - Not Another Day ... I might even have a cassette tape in the garage of the Cleethorpes spot where it got its first play Apparently the song was recorded at the infamous Gold Star studio in L.A. Andy
  8. Joe is in the middle ... white hair & glasses Andy
  9. I asked Joe about this and he said it was recorded at the RCA studios in New York ... Gloria Toote said she leased it to the Leaner Brothers as she was trying to get the Tru-Glo-Town product into new markets Andy
  10. A brilliant CD
  11. It is ... CDKEND 280 .. The Right Tracks - The Complete Okeh Recordings 1963-1966 Andy
  12. Thanks John is anybody in touch with Josie Armstead or Val Simpson ..... They might know more The song looks like it was written around September 1968 Andy
  13. They were pressed at Johnson's Wax ...should have that big raised X in the run-out ... same pressing plant that Shrine used ... bad vinyl and the glue was no better Andy
  14. White label .. black writing .. assume an issue as it doesn't say DJ copy Andy
  15. I've got a copy as well if needed Andy
  16. Johnnie Mae told me Telma Laverne and Telma Hopkins were the same person ..... She gave me the unlabelled studio acetate with 2 versions of both sides .... Slightly different mixes with count-in intros ...I like both sides andy
  17. Lorraine Chandler is September Jones ... No more love Precisions ... Cairos on Shrine Lester Tipton ... Sebastian Williams Jimmy Radcliffe ... Tymes on MGM Art Wheeler ... Kenny Hamber ... De Jac Salvadors ... Trends on Smash
  18. The connection to Motown and/or Detroit might be because the only song with this title registered at BMI is a Edwenna Edwards & Randy Diamond composition .... but it has no publisher listed .. if it was a Motown song I do not believe that would have happened .... Edwenna co-wrote 'Honey Bee', recorded by the Supremes, and Randy wrote 'No Part Time Love For Me', recorded by Martha Star. As I said in 2012 there is no record of this in the Motown database So unless somebody can connect Edwenna or Randy to Dallas then I think we can discount the Motown / Detroit connection and just assume it's a coincidence on the song title But having said all that we have the account from Rob Moss which blows my view out of the water A mystery indeed Andy
  19. Agree with all about the faulty Decca pressings ... never heard a decent one Ady had 2 acetates that were alternate versions in so much that they had lots of additional backing vocals ... might just have been different mixes of the same take ... I never A/Bd them to compare As I recall they were in the batch of acetates he got along with Ben E. King - Gettin To Me ... Lou Johnson - Panic Is On etc etc Andy
  20. I'm really good .... enjoy the moment .. and make it last for as long as possible .. occasions like this are surely a once in a lifetime thing ... unless you are Ady Croasdell Andy
  21. Great news Mark ... sounds really exciting .. you must be thrilled to be involved in what sounds like a great project and in turn we will be thrilled at the tunes that will appear in time. I have no doubt that you will make sure the music is presented with a great deal of care, authenticity and respect Nice one Best Andy
  22. And what a talented family ... the sister of Yvonne Baker ... I wonder if any other family members were involved in music Russ ... in answer to your previous comment on the Ascots... I'm very good ... life is well above excellent Andy
  23. These are the Mir-A-Don guys ... Archie Powell is in the middle Andy
  24. Well spotted Simon .... I haven't seen those before ... Same handwriting Andy
  25. Interesting that this is the 3rd acetate that has surfaced for this song. I wonder if they did more than one studio session for it as these acetates were usually cut after one had ended. The copy on ebay, as linked above, does have the annotation #3 Dave Raistrick obtained the first one from Weldon which went to Rob Marriot ... I have one credited to 'Irma & Weldon' .. and now another The writing on the current ebay copy is very unusual to my eyes ... it looks very 'English' in format ... meaning it looks like no other writing I've seen on Virtue acetates ... but it looks and sounds like the real deal as far as I can tell Andy
