  1. £100+ seems a bit optimistic to me. Without doubt an in-demand 45, but a Highland 7"copy sold for $9.99 a couple of days ago on eBay, so can still be had cheap if you look around.
  2. Original has got the following matrix markings: RDS 45-7225-1 DMRS 720603 Re-issue has got the following matrix markings: NR-21150-A RDS-33- 7225-A G
  3. Yes, must've sold quite well upon release. Two different label designs for the STAR WEST release and also a 7" and 12" issue on HIGHLAND. Can't find a label scan for the second STAR WEST label design at the moment, but here are the other three:
  4. Has anyone on here got a copy of the "Heeey Baby Days Of Beach Music" book for sale (complete with the two CDs)? Either still sealed or in as new condition. Please, PM me if you do and let me know how much you want for it including airmail shipping to Sweden. Big thanks in advance.
  5. Ofcourse there is a label and a label owner. Flaming Arrow was a well established label owned and run by Eugene Davis. He wrote that Nancy Butts 45. He produced it as well. I think we can be pretty sure that he had the rights to do whatever he felt like doing with those tunes. He kept releasing records on Flaming Arrow from the late 60s well into the 80s (if not even 90s). The tunes on the Nancy Butts 45 are not registered with BMI, but many of the later Crow and Flaming Arrow tunes aren't. Just because a tune isn't listed with BMI, ASCAP etc. doesn't mean that no one owns the rights to the recording.
  6. There's a movie about the legendary 78 collector Joe Bussard called "Desperate Man Blues". Very good and interesting in my opinion. An excerpt:
  7. Was originally issued on US Salsoul as 7" and 12" and also on UK Underworld as 7" and 12". See scans below. The US 7" usually goes for £75-£100. The US 12" and the UK 7" usually sells for £30-£50. The UK 12" fetches a bit more than the UK 7". Not booted as far as I know, but was reissued on UK label Suss'd about 5 years ago. US 7": US 12": UK 7":
  8. Only 1-2 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)
  9. SORRY! Don't know what happened there with the multi-posts! It is indeed Peter & The Infinits (note: no E in Infinits), issued on the RUVAL label. Both sides have been comped on garage rock comps. Nice moody down-and-out type of tune. Always been a cheap 45 the times I've seen it. Here are some scans from a recent eBay auction:
  10. And here is the Norway issue (which sold for $39 a couple of months after the UK issue above). The Norway 45 was issued with a picture sleeve but I've never had the sleeve. Have never seen this release on a Denmark 45, but it might very well exist.
  11. Here is an original UK copy that I sold about a year ago on eBay for $46:
  12. I think you got lucky. Would really surprise me if it has been booted. "A Time For Everything" is one of the best ever New Orleans soul tunes in my opinion, but there's not THAT much demand for it surely?
  13. There's about 2 days left on these auctions.
  14. Wow! Would really like to see that if you still have got a scan somewhere? My copy came without a sleeve. Sure sounds like him, and that tune is written by Freddie Chavez.
  15. Have only ever known of one release by Freddie Chavez ("They'll Never Know Why" b/w "Baby, I'm Sorry" on LOOK), but I just found a second 45 by him on a tiny little label called FCP out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Probably issued in the late 70s. FCP stands for Freddie Chavez Productions. Neither of the sides are uptempo dancers... but one of the sides, "I've Got It Made Now", is in my opinion a beautiful country soul beat ballad. Has almost got a Goffin/King or Chuck Jackson edge to it. Will post a clip of it below. There's no mention of this release on his website and I've never seen it listed, has anyone of you got any further info about it? Did anyone else record this tune (written by Fred Schmidt)?
  16. You can get it on this official CD that was issued a couple of years ago: https://www.amazon.co.../dp/B000VNT97Q/ It was never officially released on 45 or LP.

  18. Perhaps not exactly what you're looking for, but I'm currently digging my way through three newly published books that I'm enjoying a whole lot for wildly different reasons. John Broven: Record Makers And Breakers - Voices Of The Independent Rock 'n' Roll Pioneers https://www.amazon.co.../dp/025203290X/ Mark "Snowboy" Cotgrove: From Jazz Funk Fusion To Acid Jazz - The History Of The UK Jazz Dance Scene https://www.amazon.co.../dp/1438973608/ Vince Aletti: The Disco Files 1973-1978: New York's Underground, Week by Week https://www.amazon.co.../dp/0956189601/ That 640+ page John Broven book is totally amazing as far as a behind the scenes look on the 50s and 60s record industry goes! The Vince Aletti book is another massive read and an amazing account of the blossoming disco scene filled with weekly articles and record charts written at the time it actually went down. Snowboy's book is decent as well, but while reading it I can't help but feel that it's slightly excluding and perhaps a better read for people who actually took part in the UK jazz dance / jazz funk scene.
