  1. It's an offical release out of Belgium. Released by ARS Entertainment which is a part of Universal. Here's the TV commercial:
  2. Here's a CHA CHA discography: https://www.globaldogproductions.info/c/cha-cha.html
  3. Haha! Great minds... and all that!
  4. How about these? CHA CHA 766 - Otis Bush And The Crusaders - Sock 'Em With A Good Foot / So Much Love CHA CHA 778 - Otis Bush - So Much Love / Someone To Love
  5. It was a nice surprise when I realised that the exact same recording of "When I'm Ready" that was issued as a Mill Evans 45 on TOU-SEA is included on that Esquires album. One side of his CONSTELLATION label 45 is also on the LP.
  6. It is indeed nice, but I personally prefer the flipside "Back To School". It has got the same backing track as "Show Stopper" but different vocals that in my opinion fits better with the backing track.
  7. This was a massive hit record and there are at least 5 copies on eBay at any time: https://desc.shop.ebay.com/Records-/306/i.html?LH_TitleDesc=1&LH_PrefLoc=2&_nkw=harvey+scales+%22get+down%22&_catref=1&_dmd=1&_dmpt=Music_CDs&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282 Shouldn't cost more than $5-$10. The flipside "Love Itis" is superb as well.
  8. It refers to the three major industry magazine charts at the time: Billboard, Cashbox and Record World.
  9. The US and Holland 7" releases have got the exact same version of "Do Ya Got What It Takes" as on the LP. The LP version of "How's Your Love Life Baby" is however a slightly longer edit than on the 7".
  10. Great 70s dancer in my opinion! It did get a US 7" issue, but it is quite hard to find because it sold poorly and "Do Ya' Got What It Takes" was only included on the issue copies. The demo copies has got stereo/mono versions of the (also good) "How's Your Love Life Baby". So make sure you get an issue copy if you're going for the US issue. Here's the info: Jackie Moore - How's Your Love Life Baby / Do Ya' Got What It Takes - COLUMBIA 11140 Here are scans of the US 7": Was also issued in Holland with a sleeve:
  11. Here are prices for a bunch of copies that have sold during the past 4 years on eBay: 2009-11-22 - $134 (MAINSTREAM, VG+-NM, damaged labels) 2009-08-15 - $183 (MAINSTREAM, VG++) 2009-08-12 - £206 (JABER, VG++) 2009-06-07 - $375 (JABER, VG) 2008-12-29 - $160 (MAINSTREAM, VG-) 2008-03-11 - £100 (MAINSTREAM, VG-) 2008-02-27 - $406 (MAINSTREAM, VG++) 2007-12-11 - $513 (JABER, M) 2007-11-11 - $1180 (JABER, VG+) 2006-06-18 - $308 (MAINSTREAM, VG+) 2006-04-08 - $283 (MAINSTREAM, NM)
  12. Have in mind that the P-VINE release is a reissue though, from about 10 years after its TURBO issue.
  13. Dakar went through three numbering systems and all had different label layouts. The first series (in 1968-ish) DAKAR 1449 - DAKAR 1452 had a plain black/silver layout: The second series looked similar, but was coloured. It was acrive from 1968-1971 and went from DAKAR 600 - DAKAR 626: The third series was completely different. It was active from 1972-1977 and went from DAKAR 4501 - DAKAR 4569:
  14. £100-£150.
  15. It would really surprise me if the 5+ minute soundclip above is anything else than an early rough mix. There are hardly any effects or compression evident at all. I was thinking the exact same thing as you Paul when the previous Myron & E tune "leaked" - that it lacked punch and was badly mixed and mastered. Then the 7" of it dropped and it sounded exactly like it should. Timmion are usually spot on with what they're doing and I'm sure they'll get it right this time around as well.
  16. Jeff Hannusch's books about New Orleans soul/r&b are absolutely essential: The Soul of New Orleans: A Legacy of Rhythm and Blues https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soul-New-Orleans-Legacy-Rhythm/dp/0961424583/ I Hear You Knockin: The Sound of New Orleans Rhythm and Blues https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hear-You-Knockin-Orleans-Rhythm/dp/0961424508/ There's a book by Barney Hoskyns about the strong links between southern soul and country music which is superb: Say it One Time for the Broken Hearted: Country Side of Southern Soul https://www.amazon.co.uk/Say-One-Time-Broken-Hearted/dp/074754137X/ If you want to take a look at the record industry side of things, I would really recommend this epic book by John Broven: Record Makers and Breakers: Voices of the Independent Rock 'n' Roll Pioneers https://www.amazon.co.uk/Record-Makers-Breakers-Independent-Pioneers/dp/025203290X/ If you want to find out about the development from 70s soul to disco, it doesn't get any better or more thorough than Vince Alettis's recent: The Disco Files 1973-1978: New York's Underground, Week by Week https://www.amazon.co.uk/Disco-Files-1973-1978-Yorks-Underground/dp/0956189601/ I'd advise you to avoid all books that are written with the northern soul scene in mind if you want to learn about the history of US r&b/soul music from a scientific point of view.
  17. No, the copy last week on eBay sold for $765 (about £475).
  18. Definitely a strange one to sell covered up as it has been sold a couple of times during the past years on eBay by high profile sellers uncovered and with soundclips. They've all sold for a lot of money so I'm surprised if anyone that keeps an eye on eBay's completed auctions would've missed it. In any case a superb, obscure and rare 45!
  19. Tyrone Thomas
  20. Do you remember what the flipside was? And was it on DY-RICH?
  21. A copy sold on eBay for $107 a couple of days ago, but it usually fetches $60-$100. He's got a third 45 on the Hollywood label as well.
  22. The version of "Midnight Affair" on the Demon LP has got a different vocal take compared to the original US Truth label 45 and the backing track is indeed mixed differently. The differences in the vocal are subtle, but they're definitely there and she phrases certain words differently.
  23. One of his more obscure releases and definitely worth a spin! Both sides on that Clarence Reid 45 are good in my opinion but have only ever seen it on playlists from "pub" type events.

  25. Because it seems to be quite a hassle to list records on their site and they charge higher fees than what eBay and PayPal (combined!) does on a sale. If you list a record on eBay(.com) and you're getting payment through PayPal, then the combined fees usually comes to 9%-12% (or less) of the final price. Here's some quotes from the terms of use for soulbyauction.com: "We will charge 15% commission on the final sale price, subject to a minimum of £5." "In the event of a record not selling on the auction, there is a handling fee of £5 per item."
