  1. It nowadays costs extra to have .com items show up on the .co.uk site. There's an "international visibility" box that you have to tick on the last page before submitting the listing. Very well worth it though.
  2. That's probably why you get to look through his wall of records. I guess you have to build up some sort of trust in order for him to let you go back behind the counter. It was my first time there and he didn't know that I was prepared to spend a lot of money on records. Bob specifically told me that he "only" takes want lists. I perhaps shouldn't have taken that as literal as I did. Still managed to spend a couple of hundred dollars at his place and get away with a stack of tasty 45s... Wouldn't mind looking through his stock someday though...
  3. You're absolutely right. It's all explained on PayPal's homepage: https://cms.paypal.com/se/cgi-bin/?&cmd=_render-content&content_ID=ua/UserAgreement_full&locale.x=en_US#8.%20Fees
  4. Craig Moerer has got 5 copies in stock of the above (TEC 101) at $30 each: https://www.recordsbymail.com/search.php?keywords=346571 Don't know if the issue copy (TEC 770) has got the same version, but if it does, he's got a further 7 copies of that one at $8 each: https://www.recordsbymail.com/search.php?keywords=192417
  5. I spent 10 days in New York during November last year and didn't have any problems finding good records. The record stores are heavily centred around LPs/12"s but there were good 7"s to be found in all record stores that I visited and I brought hundreds of 45s with me home. No super rarities, but good, in-demand and sometimes very obscure records were easy to find in all stores. They have all got the various price guides and are generally very clued up on prices so don't expect to find Shrine 45s for $5... I did notice though that VG+/EX- type records were considerably cheaper than they would be on eBay/dealers lists etc. and I managed to pick up cheap scratchy-looking-but-good-playing copies of some rarities. All the stores I went to were willing to negotiate on prices if you spent more than $100 or so. As far as Manhattan goes, I'd recommend a visit to these stores: Academy Records 12 West 18th Street, NY 10011 (between 5th Ave & 6th Ave) Academy Records 415 East 12th Street, NY 10009 (between 1st Ave & Ave A) Big City Records 521 East 12th Street, NY 10009 (between Ave A & Ave B ) A-1 Records 439 East 6th Street, NY 10009 (between 1st Ave & Ave A) Gimme Gimme Records 325 East 5th Street, NY 10003 (between 1st Ave & 2nd Ave, only open fri-sat 13-22 and sun 13-19) Good Records NYC 218 East 5th Street, NY 10009 (between 2nd Ave & 3rd Ave) Sound Library 165 Orchard Street, NY 10002 (don't go here prior to 18:00/19:00) Strider Records 22 Jones Street #1, NY 10014 (usually only takes want lists and you're not allowed to look through his 45s, but ask for his boxes of northern soul) It's ofcourse crucial to have contacts if you want to get access to private collections/dealers. But as far as record stores goes, the above places served me well. Very friendly staff at all places as well. Have a nice trip and good luck!
  6. That ZTSC number is from 1966.
  7. What info is it that you need? Boba stated above that it is: Three Men In Black Productions - I Was Sent Here To Love You - TWIN TOWN
  8. And here it is in case it disappears from eBay:
  9. Only about 2-3 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! :-)
  10. David Hartfield has also got the following titles registered with BMI: "Let's Start Praising The Lord", "O Lord", "Just Gonna Be That Way" and "All The Way". Considering that, and the fact that WINNING STAR is registered with the following address over at BMI: WINNING STAR MUSIC 349 S 9TH ST RICHMOND, CA 94804-2405 ...it's not too far of a stretch that it's the same David Hartfield that nowadays is a bishop in the Free Light Of The World church in Fresno, CA: I might ofcourse be totally wrong about this though!
  11. The artists/songwriters on this one are David Hartfield and Robert Hartfield (check out the "heart" in the label logo, and what looks like a "Z" is "f"). Don't know anything about it apart from that it has been suggested that it is by the same Hartfield Brothers that issued a 45 on BOOLA-BOOLA. Doesn't really sound like it though!
  12. Has been dropping in price over the past couple of months. Some recent eBay prices: 2010-02-15 - $592.21 2010-01-28 - $585.00 2010-01-26 - $650.00 2010-01-07 - $504.00 2009-12-13 - $660.00 2009-11-30 - $670.00
  13. There's now about 2 days left on these auctions.
  14. I don't know how they did it, but the (as far as I know) legit Vampisoul label out of Spain issued two CDs about 5 years ago by Nathaniel Mayer and Andre Williams that featured some of their Fortune sides. NATHANIEL MAYER: https://www.vampisoul.com/detail_cd.asp?referencia=72 https://www.discogs.com/Nathaniel-Mayer-I-Want-Love-And-Affection-Not-The-House-Of-Correction/release/1790746 ANDRE WILLIAMS: https://www.vampisoul.com/detail_cd.asp?referencia=73 https://www.discogs.com/Andre-Williams-Movin-On-With-Andre-Williams-Greasy-And-Explicit-Soul-Movers-1956-1970/release/1088228
  15. It's his most common english language 45. Here are some eBay results from the past year or so: 2009-12-21 - $160.00 2009-12-01 - $168.50 2009-10-22 - $160.00 2009-08-13 - $102.50 2009-07-29 - $160.50 2009-07-16 - $102.50 2009-05-11 - $127.00 2009-04-14 - $132.50 2009-02-01 - $77.78 2008-12-10 - $91.00 And here's a nice clipping from Billboard magazine:
  16. Both of their DESTINATION label 45s are from 1965. Same label as The Cryan Shames hit "Sugar And Spice" by the way.

  18. No, that one definitely exists. And it's also a slightly different version than on the LP (basically the same backing track, but the lead and backing vocals are not the same).
  19. Yes. The US and brazilian issue copies are the only ones that feature the track "We're Gonna Make It".
  20. There is a demo copy of that release, but it's got mono and stereo versions of the "wrong" side ("Help The Man").
  21. I think that the 1964-1969 stuff by Ben E. King is seriously underrated. I once put together a full CD with my fave tracks by him from that period and it's one of my most played CDs!
  22. And throw the rest of us for a loop. Certainly would make sense.
  23. Actually, the last time this topic was up for discussion on here Steve G categorically stated that the scan of the original Silver Spoon 7" was, and I quote, "not a real 45". Steve also wrote "when the scan appeared on Clarkie's list, I asked him about it at great Yarmouth and he told me it was a wind up":
  24. By the way, here's a great picture of Levon & The Hawks from a year before they issued "He Don't Love You": Their "Leave Me Alone" released as The Canadian Squires (just a couple of months prior to their first Atco 45) is a superb garage rock pounder:
  25. They were a canadian band (a.k.a. The Band who backed Bob Dylan and earlier Ronnie Hawkins) so it would make sense that the canadian ATCO release was the first issue, but I certainly don't know for sure. Perhaps the canadian 45 was issued a couple of weeks/months later than the first US Atco release due to demand from their homeland? By the way, there are 3 years between the different US Atco issues of "He Don't Love You": Levon & The Hawks - He Don't Love You / The Stones I Throw - ATCO 6383 (1965) Levon & The Hawks - He Don't Love You / Go Go Liza Jane - ATCO 6625 (1968)
