  1. If you get the chance/time to do that it would be great! I'd really like to see pictures of her and read any further information that might be found in that article. Wouldn't mind hearing the unissued tune as well...
  2. I just found a 2009 digital(/CD?) release by Patti Jo from the GUSTO label which features the four sides on her SCEPTER and WAND 45s as well as a fifth tune "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" (the Sam & Dave track, I assume). Has anyone of you heard that fifth tune? Is it perhaps the unissued tune that Steve mentioned above? Or are they all new re-recordings? Here's the itunes link: https://ax.itunes.app...lay/id311666406
  3. The long versions of "Make Me Believe In You" and "Ain't No Love Lost" on the "Disco Gold" LP are re-edits made by Tom Moulton. He had access to the master tapes and the original 7" releases were most likely mixed down from longer recordings, so Moulton could re-arrange and speed the recordings up as he saw fit to make them more suitable for plays in disco clubs.
  4. NOTE that Tommy Ridgley recorded two different versions of this tune. The first one is on RIC (#984) from 1961 and then he cut a later one on RONN (#36) in 1970. Both are great in my opinion, but might be good to have in mind when buying it.
  5. There's now about 2 days left on these auctions.
  6. That's strange. Check this page under Insertion Fees > Media: https://pages.ebay.co.../sell/fees.html Also, the final value fee is always 9% of the closing amount (but never more than £40, i.e. if you sell a record for £2000 the fee is still only £40 despite that 9% out of £2000 actually would be £180). The above goes for the co.uk site. Listings on .com is different. The basic insertion fee is never more than $0.25-$2.00 though (if you don't list in two categories, have a subtitle etc.). The final value fee is always 9% of the closing amount (but never more than $50).
  7. The insertion fees in the media section on ebay.co.uk is £0.10 regardless of what amount you start the auction at.

  10. That's a different version of the same tune (from 1961). The version in the YouTube clip is only available on the "Hell" LP as far as I know.
  11. I think it originated on the SoulStrut forum: https://www.soulstrut.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/64091/ https://www.soulstrut.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/64125/ Happy reading.
  12. Seriously, give it a rest.
  13. I fully understand that and people can do whatever suits them best. Was just giving my view of things.
  14. Give it a rest, I wasn't having a go at anyone, just stating my thoughts on this. Life is indeed very short, that's why I'll never understand the need to buy reissues at £10-£20 a pop to get ONE tune to play at home, when that money could be spent much more wisely and result in more musical pleasure. This is all in my opinion ofcourse. I'm not forcing anyone to share my view.
  15. Did you get the copy that Manship auctioned, or do you have an hitherto unknown copy of it?
  16. That's correct. Have been after it since I heard it on Finewine's show in 2003/2004 or so. I was by the way the second highest bidder on the copy that Haim Kenig auctioned on eBay a couple of years back which you got cheap (I had no idea it would prove to be that rare!). The copy I now finally have gotten my hands on is in superb shape, somewhere between EX and EX+ on both sides and plays perfect. Don't know if refosoul is up, but I'll try to post both sides of the 45 if it's possible. EDIT: just tried, refosoul is not working.
  17. The thing is that I don't get how a reissue (legal or not) can suffice when you otherwise collect original issue 45s? On the other hand I love CDs (unlike a lot of people on here it seems) . It's probably my absolute favourite format as far as home listening goes and I don't mind having tunes that I can't afford original 45s of on CD or other digital media. Horses for courses, I guess.
  18. As Pete wrote: your copy is a boot. Above is the most obvious giveaway. The original has got 65C-9290-1 in the deadwax. It's all explained in the latest Manship price guide.
  19. This is what we came up with a couple of weeks ago: /index.php?//topic/130762-goodie-train-discog/
  20. Isn't there some kind of annoying sound drop-out on the intro of the yellow reissue as well? I don't see how the yellow label issue can be of interest to anyone who only collect original issue 45s. It's a bit like making do with the gold label reissue from the 90s of Four Voices "Your Love Is Getting Stronger" and pretending that it's an original. Might as well play the tunes from CD/MP3/WAV in my opinion.
  21. UK promo 12" exists, very rare though:
  22. That 45 sure achieved an unexpectedly high price. The second-highest bid was $201.77. The third highest bid was $31.99. If the top bidder hadn't come in with a gigantic bid it would've sold for $32.50. So it hasn't gone up in price, I was just lucky this time (and the payment has been recieved). The two highest bidders are both regular customers of mine who usually don't mind paying over-the-top to get the records they want.
  23. Only 3-4 hours to go on these auctions. Thanks for looking! :-)
  24. There's about 2 days left on these auctions now.
  25. There's an alternative version of "Love Me" included on the "Indelible Impressions" compilation CD on Castle/Sequel from 1999 which is a different take than the 45 issued as CURTOM 1959 and CURTOM 1973. Much more Curtis-sounding vocals, but nowhere near as brilliant as the take released on the original 45.
