  1. Here are label scans for the tunes in the mix:
  2. That listing is incorrect. MGM 14164 (Hank Williams Jr. & Lois Johnson) was reviewed as a new release in the September 12, 1970 issue of Billboard. The LP which included tracks from MGM 14166 (Bill Cowsill) was mentioned in the October 10, 1970 issue of Billboard. MGM 14169 (Tompall & The Glaser Brothers) was advertised as a new release in the October 17, 1970 issue of Billboard. Embers is MGM 14167 so should be from about that time as well.
  3. I did... Should've phrased it differently. My mistake! Big thanks for taking the time to search for the scans!
  4. Thanks, but that one is aleady in the post above. An issue scan of that cat# would be great!
  5. I had no idea about that! Green demo it is. But regardless of label color of the Dolly Parton demo, the new typesetting/logo was in place as opposed to four releases prior to it. Would be great to see demo/issue scans of 9653-9656.
  6. Slightly off-topic perhaps... (and might be a good idea to move this post to "sharp end of vinyl" instead?) but does anyone know the exact catalouge number in 1968 when RCA changed from black issue labels to orange issue labels? Herb Ward is 9688 and Exciters is 9723 but it appears to have happened long before both of those releases. I've had a look aound the net for scans and have come up with that it is likely that it changed between 9653 and 9657. 9657 is the first release I have found scans of where the demo and issue both uses the "new style" design. Check out the listing and scans below, and please fill in any details if you have 9653-9656 in your collection. RCA 47-9652 - Jimmy Dean - A Hammer And Nails / I Taught Her Eveything She Knows "old style" YELLOW demo / "old style" BLACK issue RCA 47-9653 - Peter Robbins - If I Knew Then / Little Brown Mouse "old style" YELLOW demo / ? issue RCA 47-9654 - Henry Mancini - A Man, A Horse And A Gun / Las Cruces ? demo / ? issue RCA 47-9655 - Four Jacks And A Jill - Hey Mister / Sad Little Pigeon ? demo / ? issue RCA 47-9656 - Steve Lawrence - Break At Love / Dear World ? demo / ? issue RCA 47-9657 - Dolly Parton - In The Good Old Days / Try Being Lonely "new style" GREEN demo / "new style" ORANGE issue RCA 47-9658 - Elton Britt - Bitter Taste / My Carolina Sunshine Girl ? demo / ? issue RCA 47-9659 - Don Robertson - Earl's Breakdown / You Still Turn Me On ? demo / "new style" ORANGE issue
  7. Thanks for the comments, Melismo! I'm glad you enjoyed the mix.
  8. Here's a yellow demo 9723 release scan:
  9. Perhaps to avoid confusion with the other west coast group called The New Yorkers that released several 45s on Scepter, Jerden and Santana in 1966/1967?
  10. The backing tracks to "You Hit The Spot" and "My Love Is So Strong" are entirely different recordings, albeit based on the same "formula". The tempo of the Gloria Walker tune speeds up throughout the course of the track and that is not the case with Angela Davis.
  11. Not a cock-up. RC 1001 was issued as both Royal Knights and The New Yorkers. Both on black labels with gold writing. Can dig out my copy of New Yorkers and post up some scans.

  15. TNT Band, perhaps? tnt band - that's life -
  16. You're right about that Gloria Jones 45 being a bootleg/repro, but I don't think that's why the seller describes it as an "import". The seller is in the UK and all of his US pressed 45s are described as "imports" which they indeed were/are (they were imported from the US to the UK, not pressed in the UK).
  17. And here's how they do it at Timmion:
  18. Was it released on the same OP-ART label as The Luv-Lites? The scan below is 1001/1002. Tiaras seems to be 1003 (or is that perhaps 1003/1004?).
  19. Why don't you just cut yourself an acetate of it for your own personal use? These guys cut loud and great sounding acetates: https://www.timmion.com/cutting

  24. I've tried it a couple of times and it has always packed the floor. But I always fade it out at around 2:10 when the guitar solo comes in.
