  1. In my experience this is a far rarer 45 than most people realise. Only turns up about once or twice per year on ebay. When I was after it I had to wait more than a year for a copy to turn up for sale.
  2. UK Ace Records and US Collectors Choice are releasing 6 CDs with Cameo/Parkway material this month: https://acerecords.co...59&release=8533 https://acerecords.co...59&release=8526 https://acerecords.co...59&release=8532 https://acerecords.co...59&release=8537 https://acerecords.co...59&release=8536 https://acerecords.co...59&release=8534 According to their site: "Cameo-Parkway material has been unavailable for decades, and collectors have waited impatiently for many years for the hits to make their digital debut. A label overview in 2005 and a few subsequent hits packages skimmed the surface. Out this month on Ace are 10 full albums on five CDs, along with a compilation of vocal group classics. The floodgates are now open, and it's just the tip of the iceberg."

  4. I just noticed that Outta Sight is publishing a book written by Tim Brown on the 18th of October entitled "The Wigan Casino Years: Northern Soul - The Essential Story 1973-81". I haven't seen a mention of it on here yet, but here's the link to the website: http://www.outtasigh...casinoyears.php The preview pages looks promising. below added by site Northern Soul came of age in the mid-seventies. The first significant underground music scene in the UK came to the notice of the media and public alike in 1977, a television documentary endeavoured to capture the spirit of thousands of youngsters dancing all night to obscure, rare American soul records - which even then were up to a dozen years old. The Wigan Casino Years documents, illustrates and analyses the golden age of Northern Soul from 1973 - 1981. Writer Tim Brown experienced those years as a top collector and later became a leading record dealer, label owner and documentor of this, perhaps the most idiosyncratic and secretly influential of musical formats. With high quality graphics and full colour throughout, this book confronts the modern age with the real truth and will fascinate both the devotee and curious at the same time.
  5. Pama was the UK issue. Amy was the original US issue. I suppose Pama licensed it from Amy. Several of the other soul releases on Pama were also sourced from Amy/Mala/Bell distributed stuff.
  6. Some soul faves of mine on Pama: PAMA PM 743 - Bobby Patterson - Don't Be So Mean PAMA PM 746 - Eldridge Holmes - Wait For Me Baby PAMA PM 766 - Soul Partners - Walk On Judge
  7. It's most likely legit, but it's a re-issue pressed in the 90s (or mid/late 80s at the very earliest).
  8. There's now only 2-3 hours to go on these auctions: https://shop.ebay.com/pushkings/m.html Thanks for looking!
  9. There's about 2 days left on these auctions now: https://shop.ebay.com/pushkings/m.html
  10. Slightly bigger picture here:
  11. No, the copies I've had with the Truth-stickered sleeve have all had the regular yellow label Stax issue inside. Here's the label on the vinyl of one of those Truth-stickered copies (which I sold a couple of years ago):
  12. The Truth TRS 4202 "re-issue" is just the regular Stax issue with Truth stickers applied on the sleeve where the old Stax catalogue number could be found. Compare the photos below, Stax issue at the top and Truth issue at the bottom.
  13. Just found this in a Billboard Magazine from 7 august, 1971:
  14. Current fave of mine! Sensational Five - Coming On Strong Staying Long - SAG PORT
  15. I really like the (previously unissued) Wilson Pickett version:

  17. I've noticed that the street address on the label differs between the blue and yellow copies. Looks like they moved house inbetween the pressings and were most likely not done at the same time. But I have no idea which was first. BLUE LABEL address: 29111 Greenfield, Detroit MI 48075 YELLOW LABEL address: 11125 Greenfield, Detroit MI 48227
  18. Those gold labeled Four Voices 45s were pressed in the 90's (or mid-80's at the very earliest).
  19. I just found this web-site: https://eddiespencer.net/ Info on there is scant and it doesn't say who's behind it, but someone has obviously gone through the trouble to set up a website for Eddie Spencer / ARC Records!
  20. No, it's Johnny Daye (same guy as on Stax, Jomada and Parkway).
  21. There might ofcourse be one, but I have never heard of another version of "You're So Good To Me Baby". By far the better tune of the two on that Eddie Spencer 45 in my opinion.
  22. There are probably ways around it, but I honestly have no idea how to as I never use iTunes. I thought you just needed server space and unlimited transfer volume. Hope you're able to sort it out.
  23. A tip is to get yourself some server space with unlimited transfers. At the following place you can get 25 GB of storage, your own domain name and unlimited transfers for about £4 per month (£48 per year): https://www.one.com/en/ They've got extremely fast servers / connection as well.
  24. A big fave of mine: Cassietta George - Don't Give Up - AUDIO GOSPEL
  25. I don't know which song on the Zonophone reissue it is that you're after, but the flipside "Don't" exists on an original swedish 45 released in the 60s as well. "Beatmaker" is otherwise LP-only though.
