  3. The TARPON and CHIRRUP releases are both from 1965 and has got the exact same versions. In fact both releases are pressed from the same stampers. The VEE-JAY release from 1957 is however a completely different recording.
  4. There seems to have been two different Italian issues of this 45. NOTE that the catalogue number for "Just Because Of You" is CN A 9237. I'd suggets that the sleeve with the following info is the FIRST issue because it advertises releases that were issued PRIOR to "Just Because Of You" i.e. CN A 9221, CN A 9222, CN A 9223 and the album MS A 77155 (these were all released in 1965/1966): The following is most likely the SECOND issue because it advertises and shows a picture of a release that was issued AFTER "Just Because Of You" i.e. CN A 9239 . It also advertises the single CN A 9236 and the album MS A 77163 (these were all released in 1967): I might be totally wrong ofcourse, but that's my take on it.
  5. It was just common practice, especially on english language releases. Most scandinavian releases read "Made in Sweden", "Made in Denmark" and "Made in Norway". The same goes for many other european countries like France, Holland etc. Everything else on those spanish and italian Durium labels is written in the mother tongue.

  7. The 45 that steveluigi has posted up a scan of (on the STIBBE label) is pressed in Holland/Netherlands. It reads "Kant B" on the label. "Kant" in dutch means "Side". I.e. Side B. Many european record labels used imported picture sleeves during the 60s and pressed up 45s in their own country resulting in several strange sleeve/45 combinations.
  8. Mine are also 80-minute mp3s. They want you to mark out where each song starts, but you don't HAVE to. I don't do that.
  9. When you get to the upload page you can enter up to 5 categories of your own for each mix. They are the "tags" for your mix. If you put "rocksteady" and "ska" as your categories, your mixes will show up if a user searches for either genre via the search engine. Here's what showed up when I searched for "rocksteady": https://www.mixcloud....tag/rocksteady/ and "ska": https://www.mixcloud.com/tag/ska/ Seeing as you will promote your cloudcasts yourself, it doesn't really matter which category you put them in. The "tags" are more important.

  11. As far as the french pressing goes... The "drunken intro" one has got the following matrix: M3 301861 1 and 96772 A 21 and SP 399A The "count-in intro" one has got the following matrix: M3 308552 1 and 96772 A 22 NOTE the higher numbers in the "count-in" matrix (underlined above). It is most likely the later pressing.

  13. I think both french pressings came in that cartoon sleeve. Also the pressing order is the other way around, the second pressing has only got the count-in intro. French 1st press Strata East, picture bag, full drunken intro (credited Gil-Scott Heron on label) French 2nd press Strata East, picture bag, edited intro, only count in (credited Gil-Scott Heron/Brian Jackson on label)

Everyone can listen to what you've uploaded, but the only drawback is that it's not possible to download the actual MP3 file.   16. Thanks for the matrix info. Definitely two different pressings confirmed. I think that both are french pressings, but perhaps made at different times or targetting different markets etc. Your copy has got a lower M3-number so yours is probably the earlier of the two pressing. Perhaps radio DJs complained about the spoken intro and when the record label did the next batch they edited it out? Hard to know. I also just noticed that on my copy the label credits are different. My copy credits "GIL SCOTT-HERON and BRIAN JACKSON". Your copy only credits "GIL SCOTT-HERON" Check out the scans below (mine is to the left):
  17. Then there must exist two different french demo/promo pressings of "The Bottle". My copy looks exactly the same as yours, but the matrix details seems to be different (from what I can see in your scan). The matrix details on mine (which has got the version that starts with the count-in) are as follows: "The Bottle" side: M3 308552 1 96772 A 22 "Back Home" side: M3 308553 1 96772 B 22 What are the details on your copy?

  20. But it was pressed 3 years after the Linda 45 and was released to promote a "greatest hits" LP released in 1969 on Rampart called "Golden Treasures Volume Two: West Coast East Side Revue" which consisted of tunes from the Linda/Faro/Whittier/Gordo/Rampart stable of labels.
  21. You might be right that the majority of the DJs on the northern soul scene wouldn't play it or care for it if that was the case. It's very sad if that's true though. I would enjoy the tune and DJ with it regardless if it cost £5, £10, £300 or £1000. I'm sure a lot of other people would as well. A bit of a paradox (to some) is that a tune like this would definitely get more plays in soul/funk/disco clubs if it was a £10 sound than if it was a £1000 sound (because there would be enough copies for everyone that wanted to own it).
