  1. Only 2-3 hours to go on these auctions now: https://shop.ebay.com/pushkings/m.html Thanks for looking!
  2. Thanks! I'm glad that the explanation is understandable. To further illustrate the "dot matrix" printing, here is a better close-up of the "D. Hall" text on the labels. ORIGINAL: RE-ISSUE:
  3. I've explained the differrences between the ORIGINAL and the REISSUE of this 45 here: /forums/topic/195234-james-d-hall-i-wanna-get-into-you/
  4. There was some talk a couple of weeks ago () regarding James D Hall's "I Wanna Get Into You" and the fact that there exists two different presses of this 45. The original 45 has always been and continues to be extremely rare. The copies that the artist himself was selling a couple of years ago are not originals. The re-issue is pressed from the same plates as the original so it is most likely a legal re-issue, but for those of you who don't want to have re-issues in your record collection, I'll try to explain the differences between the two below. Due to the two 45s being pressed from the same stampers they have the exact same matrix details, run-in/out groove widths etc. so unless you're holding them side by side it can at first glance be fairly hard to tell the difference between them. Here they are side by side: As you can see, they look almost identical. But when you close in on the lettering it is obvious that the RE-ISSUE label is printed with modern "dot matrix" style printing and the edges of the text is fuzzy. On the ORIGINAL the edges of the text are totally sharp. See below: Another difference is that the "dips" at the inner part of the label (closest to the hole) are much more pronounced on the RE-ISSUE. Have a look: So basically: if the edges of the text are blurry and the dips in the label are pronounced, then you have the RE-ISSUE in your hands.
  5. No, they are different recordings. GREGAR: CAPITOL:
  6. There's now about 2 days left on these auctions: https://shop.ebay.com/pushkings/m.html

  8. You're just not trying hard enough! But seriously, do you know who bought it? Can that person (or someone he/she knows) throw up some scans/info on here?
  9. Would be great if someone could post up some real evidence of the two different pressings existing and not just stuff like "I saw a copy once and it looked different from the other one". This way we're only going around in circles. Scans, photos, matrix details, record held in front of a light source (proving the alleged transparency in vinyl) etc. would be superb.

Also of note is the 1994 compilation, supervised by Alan S. himself, Grand Slam, (Harvest CZ-538), which provides a fairly definitive overview of albums (1)-(3). 45s: Wells Fargo/Few Dollars More (Harvest HAR 5061) 1972 Ain't That Livin'/We Are Holding On (Harvest HAR 5072) 1973 If Heaven's On Beauty's Side/Doctor Love (Harvest HAR 5082) 1974 Wells Fargo/Mexican (Harvest HAR 5087) 1974 Private Number/Somebody's Nobody (Harvest HAR 5090) 1975 The Duchess Of New Orleans/The Jack O Lantern/Tyrquoise (Harvest SPSR 377) 1976 Elusive/Say No More (Capitol CL 15689) 1976 This progressive rock outfit formed in 1971 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. They were originally known as Shacklock after their founder member Alan Shacklock (ex-Juniors), but adopted the name Babe Ruth after the legendary American baseball player after the release of their debut album. The album didn't make much impression here in the UK but went gold in Canada. Ed Spevock (ex-Pete Brown's Piblokto) and Chris Holmes (ex-Timebox) both joined the group for their second album. Steve Gurl, formerly of Wild Turkey, was added to the line-up shortly prior to the release of their third album which climbed to No 75 in the US Charts. The band was now under considerable demand to tour the US but these demands gradually brought about their demise. Firstly, their founder Alan Shacklock left to be replaced by Bernie Marsden (who was also formerly with Wild Turkey and UFO), and then after the Stealin' Home album had met with some success here in the UK both Jenny Haan and Dave Hewitt left in short succession. Ray Knott and Ellie Hope, who'd played with an obscure girl group Ellie, were enlisted in their place and this line-up recorded Kid's Stuff, which proved to be their final album, aside from the obligatory Best Of compilation. Finally Alan Ross replaced Bernie Marsden just before the band split in '76. After their demise Bernie Marsden went on to play for Whitesnake; Janita 'Jenny' Haan formed her own band, Jenny Haan's Lion; and both Ray Knott and Ellie Hope were in Liquid Gold in the late 70s. Ellie Hope also later recorded a solo single. Janita 'Jenny' Haan also sang on Strider's 1974 album, Misunderstanding.
  14. Nice version by LTD, but i personally prefer the original take on it by Street People on VIGOR:
  15. ...and the copy that Manship is selling on his site lists "Free At Last" as the flipside: https://www.raresoulm...57/STAGEMASTERS So are there two issues of the HIT KINGDOM release with different flipsides? Scans/matrix details anyone? Manship's copy:
  16. ...and Holland with an art/picture sleeve.
  17. The World Column ("So Is The Sun" on TOWER) --> New World ("We're Gonna Make It" on POLYDOR).
  18. Are you sure that this exists? According to John Manship he added the BIG SIX release as a fictional "tender trap" 45 in his price guide. Check this out:
  19. Do you mean "I've Been Working"? It's fantastic and always packs the floor. Very "traditional" sounding to my ears as well. Seems to be rare though. Tony Rounce mentioned in another thread that only a year or two ago it was unknown to exist.
  20. The original 45 probably still is like gold dust.
  21. He did sell them as originals and most dealers are still selling them as that. There are however definitely two different pressings of this 45. The label on the re-issue is printed with "dot matrix" technology, the original isn't.
  22. The Vines and The Primers are the same group according to the liner notes to a Kent/Ace CD.
  23. "Give It To You Right Now"
