  2. Fairly hard to find in clean condition though (EX to M-). Usually turns up in VG-ish condition with lots of scratches, writing on label etc. Must've been a popular tune upon release.
  3. I second all of the comments above. A superb club with an open-minded top notch music policy, run by some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet through the soul scene. I definitely recommend a visit!
  4. Rob and Jason: big thanks for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the tunes. A whole bunch of my previous mixes can be found here: https://www.shingaling.com/ Will try to scan the labels of the 45s in my latest mix as soon as I get some spare time to do it.
  5. A fantastic tune no matter what label you put on it in my opinion and style-wise indeed very much in the same bag as "His True Love For You". Wouldn't dream of playing either of those tunes to a dancefloor though (unless as the very last tune of the night), but two masterpieces nonetheless. Sold a picture sleeved danish Capitol 45 of Scott MacKenzie about two years ago on eBay for $14.99...
  6. No, most copies have got the correct "One More Try" tune on it as sung by Tommy Andre.
  7. There's now about 3 days left on these auctions: https://shop.ebay.com/pushkings/m.html
  8. Regarding the Maurice McCormick 45: It was recorded in the US according to Swamp Dogg (who produced it). Atomic Art was Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams label. When I asked Swamp Dogg about it he said that he brought the tune to MIDEM and several european labels went apeshit over the tune "15 Minutes". It even got a release here in Sweden! Obviously never took off chart-wise.
  9. Billy Jones & Solat - You're Gonna Miss Me - POKER (Holland)
  10. It got a 7" and 12" release on the US label Atomic Art as well, so not one for this list I'm afraid. Great tune in any case!

  12. My apologies if that is the case. A hard to find 45 in my experience, but obviously not in others.
  13. As Ken mentioned - KOKO 101, KOKO 2104 and KOKO 2113 all have different recordings of "I Can't Stop".
  14. Are you sure that it was the KOKO 101 release with "You Got To Give Love To Get Love" on it and the first version of "I Can't Stop"? In my experience that issue is extremely rare and hardly ever turns up for sale. I seem to remember reading in one of the Luther Ingram CDs (on Kent) that only 500 copies were pressed of that 45 (Tony Rounce should know more about that). The two other released versions of "I Can't Stop" are however both available on common 45s. Here's "You Got To Give Love To Get Love" for those of you who might not know it:
  15. Thanks for your comments and for listening, Melismo. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  23. Thanks for your comments, guys. Might be the mastering, and I don't have a UK MCA issue myself to compare it to. But to my ears there's lots more reverb on the US Brunswick 45. Just listen to the brass, it's very "sparse" sounding in the soundclip above, hardly any reverb at all. Oh well! Just thought it was an interesting oddity.
  24. I was just making a soundclip of what I thought was a spanish picture sleeved issue of the bog standard Barbara Acklin tune "Love Makes A Woman". But it sounds quite different compared to the regular US Brunswick 45. It is obviously the same recording/take, but it sounds very sparse and it seems like the "sweetening"/post-production (i.e. added reverbs etc.) is gone. Almost as if the sound went past the "effects console" when the master for this 45 was made. Have a listen below and let me know what you think. The picture sleeve has by the way got what must be the most un-flattering image of Barbara that you could ever imagine (why use that photo?).
  25. Tollie says 1976 on the label. VJ international says 1977 on the label. I have no idea how accurate that information is though.
