  1. WOW, that is the only word that I can think of right now if I shall begin to describe the soulful weekend experience I just had in Oslo. I'll take it from the beginning. I had been looking forward to my first guest dj spot at the legendary Oslo Sou... View full article
  2. Don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere on here, but I just saw it for the first time and I thought it was brilliant and worth highlighting. Check it out:
  3. Manship's latest price/bootleg guide came out in 2008. You wrote that you sent him the record in April 2009. It's impossible for him to have included it in any guide yet.
  4. GREAT tune. I play their "Inside Out" out from time to time as well:
  5. The original was released on the DESCO label in 1998: https://www.discogs.com/Joseph-Henry-Whos-The-King-You-Know-Thats-Me-I-Feel-Right/release/871915 The reissue on DAPTONE is from 2006: https://www.discogs.com/Joseph-Henry-Whos-The-King-You-Know-Thats-Me/release/640034
  6. Their "All Because I Love You" is fantastic:
  7. I've been asked by hootenannie to post up a short clip that he sent to me of the Earl Gaines 45, so here it is:
  8. Saw another case of that happen a couple of years ago. A UK "big name DJ" bought a copy of The Platters "Hear, Speak, See No Evil" on MUSICOR. The auction had a soundclip, but the 45 had its labels scratched off. It went for $150+.
  9. STAR SHOT #3002 (the release right after Jackie Shane) is a 45 by Jack Harden. It's a bit hard to tell by the scan below, but it reads "Manufactured and [...] in Canada by [...]" along the bottom of the label.
  10. That same seller has sold 4 copies during the past 2 weeks. All in M- condition (unplayed store stock): Mar 24, 2012 - $181.50 (auction) Mar 25, 2012 - $182 (buy-it-now) Apr 01, 2012 - $250 (buy-it-now) Apr 06, 2012 - $250 (buy-it-now)
  11. I really like their "Tomorrow" on ROC-KER. Always reminds me of Edward Hamilton's "Baby Don't You Weep". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb7MbEpTYi4
  12. Wild Honey on HOUSTON INTERNATIONAL and GEORGIA PEACH are two different groups.
  13. Poor photo, but here it is from Manship's guide:
  14. It was indeed reissued a couple of years ago on a lookalike 45, so beware. Great tune!
  15. Only about 6 hours to go on these auctions now: https://www.ebay.com/sch/pushkings/m.html Thanks for looking!
  16. I've sadly noticed that people sometimes make slurs about this fact and that many of the european nights are in cities with a big student population. As if the "european events" are not "real" enough if you know what I mean. And perhaps they're right, I don't know? Many of them are not northern soul events per se (but with a diet of at least 75% northern being played... and mostly top notch stuff at that). The majority of the punters don't have an extensive knowledge about the music or the scene, but they dance their asses off and month after month return to the clubs to get their dose of soul music to dance to. The fact that there are so comparatively few events like this outside the UK makes it easier to draw big-ish crowds as well, I guess. I can't see how it could possibly be a bad thing though.
  17. It would surprise me if the french releases on the GOOGA MOOGA label are bootlegs. Demand for them at the time of release was pretty much nonexistent. GOOGA MOOGA 701 - Eddie Parker - Love You Baby (vocal) / Love You Baby (instrumental) GOOGA MOOGA 702 - Al Gardner - Sweet Baby / I Can't Stand It GOOGA MOOGA 703 - Ironing Board Sam - Funky Bell Bottoms / Treat Me Right GOOGA MOOGA 704 - Eddie Parker - I Need A True Love / Crying Clown ...and with Billy Sha-Rae tracks being released at roughly the same time on french DISCQUES VOGUE (which are definitely not bootlegs) it to me seems like someone was shopping these productions around. DISQUES VOGUE INT.80273 - Billy Sha-Rae - Let's Do It Again / I'm Gone DISQUES VOGUE INT.80265 - Billy Sha-Rae - Do It / Crying Clown
  18. Will not be able to listen on saturday, but would love to hear this. Will a download be available?
  19. There's now about 2 days left on these auctions: https://www.ebay.com/sch/pushkings/m.html

  21. This should work: Hold down Apple key + Shift + 4 then release all keys. Now, You will see the mouse cursor will change to + You can start to drag your mouse to select the portion you wish to capture. Once finished, you will see a picture file at your desktop.
  22. If you're using a PC: click the key marked "PrtSc" on your keyboard (short for PRINT SCREEN). Nothing seems to happen, but a copy of the entire screen has been saved. Then open an image editor, click paste and there you go!
  23. That's what I suspect happened as well. Perhaps Campbell "forgot" who wrote the original music and just went ahead with it... Oh well!
  24. Looks great! By the way, does anyone know what Regional Garland's links were to "It's You For Me" by Carla Whitney? Has got the exact same backing track as 21st Generations "I Need Love", but there is no mention of Garland anywhere on the Carla Whitney 45.
