Not directly related to this thread... but as far as weird UK releases go... I stumbled across a UK demo of The Shadows "Scotch On The Socks" just the other day... and it had a big "B" instead of an "A" on it. Perhaps well known to everyone, but it must be one of the earliest instances of a "double b-side" (¡ la Stiff Records 10 years later). It just looks so weird!

The "Thelma Story" CD on Goldmine, featuring the tracks discussed above, was released in 1994. I have no idea if the 45s were available before that?

The instrumental synth/moog track "Popcorn" hasn't got anything to do with the "popcorn scene" as far as I know

One of the venues in Belgium that played this kind of music was called "The Popcorn".

The info in the run-out groove was only written/scratched/stamped once into the "mother stamper", all copies were then pressed from the mother stamper making the run-out groove markings on all copies of the 45 identical.

I agree, pricing things by going solely by Popsike is of no use. The prices are however the LAST thing I take notice of when I'm using Popsike. It's a massive hub of information about records, that's why it's so good.

Anyone can/could press a record and have "SABAM" printed in plain text on the label. That doesn't make it official or legal.

I totally agree with you, I just commented on the fact that many of the records in for example rodw's list are good, not crap. Most of them are not cutting edge or extremely exciting, but good records that I would dance to. By the way would you really class the below (from rodw's list) as "oldies"? I.e. in the same league as Drake & The Ensolids etc? Definitely a "win" situation for you, it's a great 45.

I've never seen it sell for that much. £75 at the very most, but almost always for less than that. But that is based on the auctions I've seen, I don't know what it goes for in sales boxes in the UK. Fantastic double-sider indeed! And thanks for a superb radio show.

Has gone up a bit over the past couple of years. Usually fetches £40-£60 these days. Most issue copies I've seen have had bubbly labels.

Today I recieved the Bobby Dobyne 45 from soulgirl85 / Sara Sanchez / Mandy. It has got wear at the EXACT same spots as in the pictures that were used in the sales thread which I ordered the 45 from: The record is nowhere near the "EX-" grade, but I'm glad that I finally recieved the record.

Yes, both the Larks and Body Motions 45s are from 1974. The cat#'s are the dates of when the 45 was pressed or mastered and should be read like this: HARTHON 102474 - Larks - Groovin At The Gogo HARTHON 103074 - Body Motions - Puttin' You On 102474 = 10/24/74 = 24th of October 1974 103074 = 10/30/74 = 30th of October 1974
