  1. 99% or more of all my buyers on eBay follows through with their purchases. It might take a while and a reminder or two to get the payment from about 3%-5% of the buyers, but bidders who chicken out or that I never hear from are few and far between. Hope I haven't jinxed it now though...
  2. Indeed, it's a version of that Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler penned standard.
  3. Ofcourse, you're totally right about that. 1965-ish it is.
  4. Here are soundclips: "Mashed Potato Man" https://www.shingaling.com/KingColeman-MashedPotatoMan.mp3 "Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea" https://www.shingaling.com/KingColeman-BetweenTheDevilAndTheDeepBlueSea.mp3 Is it any good? Is the info below correct? VI-TOSE 100 - Cal Richards - Let Him Get His Own Girl / Small Town Girl VI-TOSE 101 - Careless Five - (Do You Love Me) Tell Me Right Now / Summertime VI-TOSE 102 - King Coleman - Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea / Mashed Potato Man I read somewhere that the Cal Richards 45 is from 1965, but don't know if that is right?
  5. Just found a King Coleman 45 that I can't find any info about anywhere: King Coleman - Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea / Mashed Potato Man - VI-TOSE 102 I've found mentions of two other 45s on the VI-TOSE label (#100 and #101), but no mention of #102. "Mashed Potato Man" on this disc is by the way not the same tune as "The Mash Potato Man" on TOGO, "(Do The) Mashed Potatoes" on DADE or "Rock Gospel Mash" on KING. Any further info? Sounds early 60's, 1963-ish. Moody mid-tempo on the a-side and uptempo r&b dancer on the b-side.
  6. Pete, you're right, it isn't american. The vocalist is Irina Milan from Finland. Recorded in Sweden and as far as I know only released in Sweden on HMV in 1967. A real oddity and I've never ever seen a copy of it prior to a couple of days ago. Just thought I'd post it up as I was so surprised to find a version of it recorded in one of the Nordic countries! The flipside is "Baby's Gone".
  7. Found a 45 the other day with a version of "What's Wrong With Me Baby" (the same tune as done by Invitations and Toys). The other side was also a Linzer/Randell composition which The Toys also recorded a version of and released on the same LP as their version as "WWWMB". Have a listen to this short clip: https://www.shingaling.com/WWWMB.mp3 Is it known? It's obviously not in the same league as the two other versions, but found it interesting at least!
  8. But if you haven't seen both, then the matrix info helps. That's the point I was trying to make.
  9. Indeed it is. It's not what I would describe as "light green" though. It's a photo of my 45 so nice to get further confirmation that it is an original. OK, then I understand where you're coming from. The chances of finding this record in a sales box outside of the UK and US are however pretty slim, so info about this type of stuff is crucial in my opinion.
  10. But it all gets a bit tricky when you see this: vs. Which one is the original? And which one is "dark" and which one is "light" green? To me it's easier to tell by the matrix numbers in the run-out groove. You don't even have to see the label to make sure you get an original that way.
  11. GREAT STUFF! I have added it to the discography above. It also throws up the question if cat# 3-2 through to 3-9 exists?
  12. Those LPs were released in 2002. There were 4 volumes. The first two focused on his 50s recordings and were called "Detroit Grease" vol 1 & 2. The last two focused on his 60s recordings and were called "Detroit Soul" vol 3 & 4. Don't know who did them, but at the time they were available from many garage distributors like Crypt, Norton etc. Check these links: https://www.discogs.c...release/3670263 https://www.discogs.c...release/3671493 https://www.discogs.c...release/3671619 https://www.discogs.c...release/3671643 I used to play in a band that acted as his supporting act when he played in Malmoe, Sweden back in 1998 when he was touring on the back of his incredible "Silky" album. He is indeed a very "bad" man and the gig after-party was one of the most blasting parties I've ever had the pleasure to experience.
  13. OK, I think it just sold for those high prices because it was still largely unknown when I sold those. Slightly later Craig Moerer had stock of it and were selling them relatively cheap. I don't think that neither of the LVC 45s are poor within their genre though.
  14. You do realise that there are two different 45s by Las Vegas Connection in the link that you are refering to? This one is quite common and usually goes for $30-$60. HEP' ME 136 - Las Vegas Connection - Give Me Your Love / Dancing With My Love Bones I once sold two copies for $200 and $300 on eBay but those were freak results: This one is however very rare: HEP' ME 169 - Las Vegas Connection - Running Back To You / Can't Nobody Love Me Like You Do There's been about 5 copies on eBay during the past 5 years. Whenever it turns up for sale it is always at least £200-£300. It's still just as rare as it's been for ages.
  15. I have no idea actually, but most likely in Sweden.
  16. This is actually by a swedish artist. Svante is the jazz singer Svante Thuresson.
  17. Have to check that one out. Really like The Searchers version of Ducks Deluxe "Love's Melody", but I've only got that on a 45. Will have to get the LP.
  18. Only distributed by Stax in the US and obviously not soul, but it was issued on Stax in the UK. One of my all-time TOP 10 tunes:
  19. The a-side on the BSP release is from the SMASH 45 from 1968. The b-side on the BSP release is from the CAPRICORN 45 from 1970. According to some discographies the BSP release is from 1979. In any case it's a reissue.
  20. Yes, very common/cheap. Craig Moerer has currently got 212 (!) copies in stock.
  21. I've seen that bandied about as fact as well, but it's not true. The ERIC release of "I Got The Fever" has got cat# ERIC 5009. ERIC 5008 is Georgia Prophets "Music With Soul" b/w "California" and that 45 was originally released on CAPRICORN in 1970. ERIC 5002 is the Assembled Multitude's version of "Overture From Tommy" and that track is from 1970. Further to this, the Eric label was reportedly started in 1969. The Prophets 45 on Smash is from 1968.
  22. I agree. Both sides are superb, especially "Scotch...". Great mod/hammond instrumental.
