  1. Billy Lee Riley's "Happy Man" was apparently covered up as Otis Smith "Down The Road".
  2. Looks like a dutch or belgian 1970's bootleg to my eyes. Most likely done for the fantastic deep soul side. It did get an official release in France, but it doesn't look like that at all.
  3. I would definitely double-check the title on the record before I entered this as the title of the auction... https://www.ebay.com/itm/330833202906
  4. While in the HTML tab, replace your current non-functioning URLs with: https://www.divshare.com/download/20919111-d41 https://www.divshare.com/download/20919114-5b8 [/code] It might/should work.
  5. That is true, but I can assure you, even if I have a good sounding/mastered 1:45 minutes long song in mono that I want to have pressed as loud as possible onto a 45 I wouldn't get the same punch/loudness as on a decently pressed/mastered vintage 60's 45. No one seems to know how to do it anymore. Apart from Timmion in Finland perhaps.
  6. Some of the best pressed/sounding vinyl records of all time are jazz, folk and classical records with lots of quiet passages. I think it's more to do with the fact that vinyl mastering, stamper/plate manufacturing and record cutting is pretty much a dead art form (and has been since the mid-80's). You have to look long and hard to find pressing plants and engineers who actually know what they're doing. And even then, it seems nigh on impossible to get a record pressed/cut REALLY loud (like Fabulous Peps "With These Eyes" for example).
  7. The original 45 version has been officially released on two different equally superb Kent/Ace CDs: "Wild Thing - The Songs Of Chip Taylor": https://acerecords.co.uk/wild-thing-the-songs-of-chip-taylor and "Northern Soul's Classiest Rarities 3": https://acerecords.co.uk/northern-souls-classiest-rarities-3
  8. Very scarce indeed, but it's the exact same recording as on the Canyon and Maple 45s. It's just that the sound quality on the Crown Four 45 on LEE JOHN is very poor and thin/hollow sounding. The Maple and Canyon releases are much punchier and louder.
  9. That's the Norway release of that 45 (has got "710" etched into the run-out groove, the Fontana/Philips/Polygram/Polydor country code for Norway. by the way "670" is for Holland, "420" is for England etc.). Originally came with a picture sleeve as well:
  10. Less than 24 hours to go on these auctions now: https://www.ebay.com/sch/pushkings/m.html Thanks for looking!
  11. In that case, they should ask someone to translate the description to their language. It's just plain stupid to spend $490 on anything if you don't know what you're actually buying. The item description and title are VERY upfront with the fact that it is a reissue and comes from the Numero box-set.
  12. Superb! Have updated the discog above.
  13. I agree, it seems a bit strange. Perhaps the numbering is all over the place and not necessarily chronological. I also would date the Dobyne 45 to much earlier than 1970. The Elizabeth D. Williams 45 (#104) is called "Sleep On Doctor King, Sleep On" and I assume (?) that the lyrics refer to Martin Luther King. He was killed on April 4, 1968.
  14. Great stuff! I've updated the discography above with the E. Williams 45.

  16. The second highest bidder bid $889.87 ($10 less than the winning bid). The winning bidder might've had a top bid of $2000, there's no way to tell.
  17. Hello! I've listed a bunch of records on eBay. There are label/sleeve scans and soundclips to everything. Check them out at: https://www.ebay.com/...ushkings/m.html Thanks for looking! Take care. /Sebastian
  18. Anyone that publishes anything in any format runs the risk of getting their work copied or bootlegged. Printing a book is one of the worst things you can do if you're desperate to keep your knowledge to yourself. Anyone can copy it. While on this topic it's interesting to note that the fictitious "made up by Manship" Dee & Joe 45 on BIG SIX which Manship included in his guide as a "tender trap" turned up in another major UK price guide that has been mentioned in this thread. The info was obviously copied from Manship's book. More info here:
  19. Two more copies here that aren't represented on Popsike: $34: https://collectorsfrenzy.com/details/140551612411/JOHNNY_BAKER_Shy_GuyDonnieO_NORTHERN_SOUL_FOG_CITY_45 $55: https://collectorsfrenzy.com/details/370574299129/Rare_Northern_Soul__Johnny_Baker_on_Fog_City__Hear
  20. I know what you mean. However there's only been 476 visits to this topic, probably from only 50-75 unique visitors.
  21. You didn't count the two copies that jinx74 mentioned above that he's had. I have no idea how many copies there are out there, but just because only 11 copies are accounted for by the people that have seen this thread on SoulSource doesn't mean that there are only 11 copies in existence. Why not phone Manship and ask how many copies he's had through his hands over the years? Or John Anderson. Or any of the other major dealers.
  22. "Help Me" on WAND?
  23. That's the reissue/bootleg. The original reads: ( C ) 1973 <- the "C" is in a brackets The bootleg reads © 1973 <- the "C" is in a circle
  24. Full details here: /forums/topic/63310-sunstruck-pages-heartaches-and-pain/#entry660190
  25. Personally I think it's a shame that I now will need two books for something that I only had to use ONE BOOK to do earlier. But I totally understand him from a business point of view and I will buy a bootleg guide as well if he decides to produce a new one.
