  1. My Soul Stirrers 45 mentioned above is now listed on ebay in case anyone is interested in owning it.
  2. NICE! An even later one! That's now TWO undocumented Checker label 45s that have come to light in the past 24 hours.
  3. Haven't bought the book yet, but Steve has replied to me elsewhere that this one is "new to him".
  4. Was going through some records here to prepare for auction, and I think I’ve come across a previously undocumented 45 on Checker. It’s obviously gospel but might be of interest anyway on here. Appears to be the last ever release on the label. I can only find info on ACK-1264 existing. This is ACK-1265. Soul Stirrers - Christ Is All / Must Jesus Bear The Cross Alone - CHECKER, ACK-1265 Anyone else out there with a copy?
  5. Here are the label images from Discogs for reference.
  6. And further on that Arctic connection, here he's doing Temptones "Girl I Love You" together with Fitz & The Tantrums:
  7. No need for matrix info etc to confirm that the record that's being sold on the ebay link is 100% the styrene bootleg housed in a GSF sleeve. The styrene bootleg label has got distinct differences compared to the original vinyl and bootleg vinyl.
  8. Here's another copy that sold in May 2015: https://www.rootsvinylguide.com/ebay_items/the-victones-my-baby-changes-front-page-1001-red-lbl-tempts-sound So it was mastered and plated at Bell Sound. Whichever pressing plant it was that pressed the red/white labelled release didn't add anything to the run-out grooves. But when ARP pressed the red/black release, they used copies of the Bell Sound plated stamper and added their "ARP" stamp to the run-out grooves.
  9. It is from 1970 or very early 1971. Was reviewed in Billboard Magazine in the January 9, 1971 issue. The red/black variant is seemingly a whole lot rarer, but I can find two copies that have gone through ebay, is one of those yours?: https://gripsweat.com/item/122134258864/northern-soul-the-victones-my-baby-changes-front-page-m-rare-red-1st-press https://gripsweat.com/item/402760659091/victones-my-baby-changes-northern-soulsweet-soul-45-front-page-hear
  10. Most likely just a case of a different pressing plants done at the time of initial release. Slightly different typesetting on the red/black vs. white/red labels.
  11. Sorry, don't know what the song in the first 30 seconds is.
  12. It's Al Johnson "Sittin' Around" on BURT. Storming flipside as well!
  13. The filename of the soundclip on the rarenorthernsoul site is "ericandt.mp3", don't know if there's a clue in there. https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/just-like-the-weather-60475 ericandt.mp3
  14. 12266 is the mastering number and can be found in the run-out grooves on the so called "470" release as well.
  15. Don't know if it adds anything, but in the 25 Feb 1967 issue of Record World it is mentioned that Pete Garris (of Garrison Records and Wand/Scepter) has "made a deal [...] for the Chicago smash, ''Please Stay''".
  16. That's a great ballad! Thanks for sharing. Totally different tune than Wade Flemons.
  17. I've added an image to the Discogs entry now: https://www.discogs.com/release/25129108-El-Anthony-Crying-Without-Reason-Will-You-Wait
  18. Seems to be a combination of two of the sides from his Star-Vue releases.
  19. There was a thread on Facebook in the Rare Soul Talk group about this last year, assumed title is "They Say" or "Run Run Run", but no one came up with any definitive answer. Must be Carl Hall singing. Longer soundclip here:
  20. Totally agree. The images posted above by me are not screen captures. The full resolution images can be accessed from John's site if you just delve into the html code and extract the links.
  21. Here are the four pictures for the auction in the full resolution that they were uploaded in, not much bigger, but at least 800x800px:
  22. Here's a short clip of it:
  23. There are differences to the labels as well just like on the two different corresponding promo releases. The one pressed at Rockaway hasn't got "Arr. by Jerry Vance" underneath the "Produced by Perception Prod." credit on the right side.
  24. "Stop Girl" was copyrighted in May 1967 so it's a possibility that the 7" was released in mid/late 1967. But I have no reason to doubt Mike Markesich's research about it being a January 1968 release, he usually doesn't publish anything that he doesn't have firm sources for.
  25. That's wrong. It's from January 1968.
