  1. Not directed at you personally Benji, just a general observation: I've never understood the "it's not an auction item" thing. Since when does auction houses only accept or deal in high value items? Everything can be auctioned. It's just another method of selling things. An auction can go both ways and I for sure notice that pretty much every week with my own sales - some records sell for far below what would be the percieved "set sale" or "book" price. Others go far higher. It all evens out in the end and I get rid of the stuff.
  2. I'm going to start commenting on all the records I dislike that are being discussed/mentioned here on SoulSource. I'll take the next week off work.
  3. Several Invictus 45's were released in Norway with picture sleeves. Germany, Australia, Canada as well according to 45cat.com. Probably several other European countries to add as well.
  4. It's definitely pressed in 1966. Manufactured at Rite. The Rite numbers allocated to this 45 (17867 and 17868) places it as a 1966 press: https://www.45rpmrecords.com/press/RITE.php?pageNum=11&totalRows=3405
  5. Considering the cat# pattern (65xx, 66xx, 67xx etc.), 1966 seems plausible: 6504 - Spider , Snake & Eee - Only A Boy / When I Have To Say, Be On Your Way 6602 - Al Williams - I Am Nothing / Brand New Love (Also released on Palmer 5011) 6604 - James Shorter - Ready For The Heartbreak / Modern Day Woman 6605 - The Masqueraders - A Family Part I / A Family Part 2 6066 - The Masqueraders - I'm Gonna Make It / How 6607 - Lester Tipton - This Won't Change / Go On 6608 - Nelson Sanders- This Love Is Here To Stay / Tired Of Being Your Fool 6609 - Don Hart & James Shorter - I Shed A Tear / All The Love I Got 6701 - The Masqueraders - Be Happy For Me / (Instrumental) 6701 - The Masqueraders / The L. P. T.'s - Be Happy For Me / (Instrumental) 6701 - The L.P.T's / The L. P. T. Orchestra - Together That's The Only Way (Vocal) / Together That's The Only Way (Instrumental) 6702 - The Masqueraders - (Work) Together, That's The Only Way / One More Chance . 6704/5 - The Masqueraders - I Got The Power / (Work) Together, That's The Only Way
  6. Fantastic record. Both sides. I had no idea it was rare the first time I heard it in 2000, but instantly loved it. It took me 10 years to find a copy. I missed out on the copy that Haim Kenig sold on eBay in October 2006. Pomonkey in this thread outbid me on it. As far as I know, six copies are documented. First off, the three copies in NYC that have been there for years (Matt, Honky, Pomonkey). As someone hinted at earlier, the most recent one on eBay (February 2012) went to a NYC collector that already had a copy. He might still have two copies unless he's sold/traded one of them. So that's four copies in NYC. I've got one copy in my collection that I bought on eBay in April 2010 from a US seller after asking the seller to end the auction early. Another copy amazingly turned up on eBay in April 2010 from a swedish seller (not me!). The 45 was found in Sweden in an ex-publicists record collection, it appeared briefly on eBay, but was withdrawn within 24 hours and that 45 was sent to Manship for auction instead. This is the copy which now resides with Soul Sam. Any more copies to add?
  7. Yes, by about five years. But they are totally different recordings ofcourse.
  8. That tune is not for me at all, but I managed to find a photo of the group in a Billboard Magazine advertisment from CJ Enterprises Artist's Management which was based in Phoenix, Arizona. The 45 is from Scottsdale, Arizona so most likely the same group. Link to the entire page/ad here: https://books.google.se/books?id=Bw8EAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PA18&dq=billboard%20quantrell&pg=PA18#v=onepage&q&f=false
  9. Yes, Triangle on AMARET. Similar but inferior to the Bobby Fuller Four version in my opinion.
  10. Yes, there is an issue/stock release of this 45 with "Falling In Love For The First Time" as the b-side. I don't own it, but found a scan of it from a 2012 eBay sale of the 45. Jesse James And The James Boys - Sweetest Little Thing / Falling In Love For The First Time - BUDDAH 315
  11. Interesting that Pic & Bill recorded a version of "I Love You Baby" as well. But I guess the BRENT issue of that Moovers 45 sold quite well.
  12. That "copyright control" logo with a "#" and "b" on each side of a "Treble/G-clef" can be found on many 45's pressed in Holland. Can you locate a three-digit number in the run-out grooves? If you can find the number "670" machine stamped then it definitely is a Holland pressed 45. If not, which numbers can be found?
  13. Some more yellow labelled promos on Smash:
  14. I guess Daryl Hall's originally unreleased version of "Girl, Don't Make Me Wait" would qualify.
  15. I was talking about records produced in the 1960's. The scan you posted is the 1979 reissue.
  16. No, I think you're making it more difficult/complicated than what it is. Loads and loads of 45's that definitely were made for primarily UK consumption had NCB and/or BIEM on the labels. It appears on LPs as well. The NCB/BIEM was on the label so that the record could be sold in those countries as well if need be. Some examples below. All UK pressings of "La Bamba" has for example got NCB/BIEM on the label.
  17. Both the promo and the issue has got "NCB" on it as well which is the Scandinavian copyright agency. This can be found on thousands of UK pressed 45's from the 60's. I assume so that those 45's could rightfully be sold in those territories as well. For example a lot of danish "releases" from the 60's has got a picture sleeve printed in Denmark, but a UK pressed 45 inside the sleeve.
  18. Lots and lots. I don't know for certain, but most likely hundreds. Some labels: Kimley, Crest, Tempe, Cal-Gold, Baronet, Invicta, Gambit, Encore, Gold-Arrow, Indigo, Hank, Petal, Amazon, Milestone etc. RobbK on here will probably know a lot more about this.
  19. "BABY WALK RIGHT IN" a.k.a. "OPEN THE DOOR TO YOUR HEART" credited to both Donnie Elbert and Darrell Eubanks over at BMI: https://repertoire.bmi.com/title.asp?blnWriter=True&blnPublisher=True&blnArtist=True&page=1&keyid=74426&ShowNbr=0&ShowSeqNbr=0&querytype=WorkID
  20. We touched upon this in an earlier thread about Motown tunes that didn't get a release in the US. I said that if we were going to include "promo only" releases then we might as well include the Frank Wilson 45. You said that Frank Wilson reached stock/issue status. The two Frank Wilson 45's that (so far, at least) have been known to exist are black/white labelled and have got "Promotional. Not For Sale." printed on the labels. There might very well be three stock/issue copies in existence, but they have never come onto the market as far as I know.
  21. All copies are pressed on vinyl, not styrene. Those of you experiencing hiss/crackle, have you tried to clean the record?
  22. I'm in total shock. How terribly, terribly sad. Rest in peace, Bob.
