  1. That is indeed your opinion, and you're wrong. I know what you mean regarding turnout/atmosphere/etc, but I personally had a really nice new years eve and I'm glad that I traveled to Gothenburg for it.
  2. Yes, same tune. No, unfortunately no soundclip.
  3. Hello! Here's a bunch of 45s I'm selling. Some new stuff plus some old stuff that I've lowered the prices on. E-mail me at fonzeus@telia.com if you're interested in anything. PayPal payments only, please. PLEASE NOTE! All prices includes ordinary airmail postage. You can click on the titles to hear a sound-clip. Jeany Reynolds - Down On Me - MAINSTREAM - EX - £100 SOLD! (massively in-demand stomping Soul Sam spin, one of Jeany/Jeannie's first releases) Boston Hitesmen - Can't Let It Ride - MTA w/d - M- - £100 (a stunning white demo copy of Ady Croasdell's old "Dexter Manley" cover-up, great atmospheric mid-tempo dancer. Comes in its original MTA sleeve!) Willie Small - How High Can You Fly - ESSICA - EX+ - £25 SOLD! (in-demand uptempo 60s dancer, this is the copy with misprinted labels - reads "Curtis Smith - Say You Will" but plays Willie Small) Jones Family - You've Gotta Feel It Baby / Chains Of Love - JEN JILLUS - EX+ - £20 SOLD! (a fantastic 45! both sides are superb. one side is a nice uptempo crossover dancer while the flipside is a blasting funk tune) Shirley Wahls - Because I Love You - CALLA - EX (wol) - £20 SOLD! (blasting uptempo dancer with screaming vocals. as good as they come) Casinos - I Still Love You - FRATERNITY - EX - £10 (classic uptempo group sound) Ace Spectrum - Keep Holding On - ATLANTIC - M- - £15 (much better that "Don't Send" and quite a bit rarer as well) Little Richard - I Need Love - OKEH - EX - £15 SOLD! (stomp stomp stomp! vastly underappreciated and mindblowing uptempo dancer! top fave of mine, selling my spare copy) Black River Circus - Love's Gonna Carry Me (Home) / A Ritual Melody - MRC - EX+ - £20 SOLD! (a very obscure disc, uptempo beach-ish dancer on one side sharing the same verse lyrics as "Would You Believe" by The Tempests, and a frantic stomping instrumental on the flip, lots of grinding organ playing in both tunes, truly recommended if you're into that kind of stuff) Charlotte Bailey - Bang Bang - FLOWER'S - M- - £15 (very obscure slightly funky early 70s mid-tempo dancer) Kay Carter - Disco Sickness - TALK OF THE TOWN - M- - £10 SOLD! (obscure 80s indie disco) Tommy Andre - One More Try - BROADWAY - EX - £15 (nice early soul dancer) Betty Lavette - You'll Wake Up Wiser / Heart Of Gold - ATCO - EX (sol) - £10 (two great sides - one mellow mid-tempo and the other slightly funky) Salem Travelers - Give Me Liberty Or Death - CHECKER - EX - £25 SOLD! (fabulous and obscure male group tune - slight warp NAP) Johnny Copeland - Sufferin' City - JET STREAM - EX+ - £10 (the alternative and much more stomping version than on Atlantic) Jones & Blumenberg - The Right Track - VOLT - EX - £10 SOLD! (great stomping version of the Billy Butler classic, only included on the issues and they are bloody hard to find) Winchester - Hot On The Heels Of Love - METROMEDIA w/d - M- - £50 (total blue eyed stomper and then some! largely unknown and hard to find copies of. this is a double-sided demo) Tim Whitsett - Still A Lot Of Love - RIM - EX- - £25 SOLD! (the label reads TW & The Imperial Show Band featuring Hank & Buzz - so perhaps H&B are the artists? sounds like a duo anyway. rare blue eyed stuff) Poppies - He's Ready - EPIC w/d - EX+ (sol, wol) - £10 (classic Wigan dancer, nice white demo) John Rhys & The Lively Set - Nothing But Love - IMPACT w/demo - EX - £15 (manic stomping Wigan instrumental, there is unfortunately a crack in this 45, but it plays without any problems, no clicks, no nothing) Dean Parrish - Tell Her - BOOM - EX (wol) - £5 (classic uptempo dancer) Robert John - If You Don't Want My Love - COLUMBIA w/demo - M- - £10 (in-demand feelgood dancer, nice double-sided white demo) Dey And Knight - I'm Gonna Love You Tomorrow - COLUMBIA w/demo - EX+ - £8 (atmospheric mid-tempo tune) Gordon Keith - This Is How I Feel - ONE-DERFUL - M- - £25 (old stafford spin, obscure and rare mid-tempo dancer) Sharon Redd - Half As Much - VEEP w/demo - EX+ - £10 (one of Sharon's first records, mid-tempo) Thanks for looking!
  4. A fantastic tune. Heard it out on new years eve and it was one of the best tunes during the entire night. Its deep soul flipside "Danger" is just as good, if not better.
  5. It's a cover-up and as we all know, the person who covered it up owns the proper legal rights to that tune and we can't have anyone revealing who it is by or what it sounds like, now, can we? You surely should know that already, Pete.
  6. Totally agree with you, Soulsmith. Just wanted to point out that there is indeed a few diamonds to be found in that package. Especially on the outtakes DVD. The walk through Val Shively's record "store" alone is worth a watch.
  7. The next time you attempt to watch The Strange World Of Northern Soul... skip the artist performances, you know what the tunes usually sounds like anyway. Not that the remaining interviews are of a high standard, but it is at least of some interest to hear the artists speak about their recordings and experiences (when they do...). It just pains me when I think about how great this thing actually could've been if someone else had conducted the interviews and not laid so much time and effort on getting the artists to "perform" their tunes. Saying that, the "outtakes DVD" has got some quite damn tasty bits on it, like the acoustic Bobby Hebb stuff, the lengthy Bunny Sigler segment etc. Watch that! Skip the performances.
  8. Probably just a case of different pressing plants pressing records for different areas of the US. Happens a lot with major label distributed stuff (in this case Atlantic). Or perhaps one of those label colours is from before the distribution deal was struck? I don't know really, but hardly a 45 worth bootlegging considering that it's still fairly easy to pick up cheap. Top quality tune in any case!
  9. I've got the following 45s by him: 1975 - ACE 3007 - You Got A Good Thing Going / Two Women 19__ - BACKFIRE 4258 - In The Same Motel / Ride The Wind 19__ - BAD 1003 - In The Same Motel / Don't Give Your Love (To Anyone Else) Despite its release date, the Ace 45 sounds like a late 60s recording and "You Got..." is great storming northern. If you need the Backfire and Bad 45s, let me know and we'll work something out.
  10. It's the flipside to "Shot Down" (which is an even better tune IMO). It can't be that hard to locate? Or can it?
  11. Everything on the first two Sonics LPs is absolutely awesome and some of the best music ever recorded in the history of the universe. Would've been nice if they would've used the mono masters for that recent remaster CD on BigBeat/ACE instead of the inferior stereo ones though... Let me know if you need the original mono master version of "Don't Be Afraid..." and I'll e-mail it to you, Pete.
  12. "A Long Way To Be Happy" is a great booming track! I really like it and have it on the "Rare Masters 2" LP which was released in 1976 on Phil Spector International. I think "Stumble And Fall" is brilliant as well and definitely one of my most loved Philles 45s.
  13. I obviously disagree with you as well. I have no problems with sampling different things and making up new tunes of it. But these two tunes DON'T go together well at all. The vocal doesn't match the rhythm in many places and it sounds forced. "You Don't Know My Name" which in its original form samples Main Ingredient's "Let Me Prove My Love To You" is a great piece of work. This mash-up sounds very, very bad to my ears.
  14. How unnecessary. "Oliver's Army" and "You Don't Know My Name" are both fantastic tunes on their own. What a waste of time and effort.
  15. Which one do you mean? "Miss You So"/"Aw Shucks Baby" surely isn't more than £25? I do agree with you if you're on about "Just A Little Bit" though. A damn hard 45 to track down. Leo Price at £700. Wow. My copy is up for grabs if anyone needs it. Thanks for the prices, Mike!
  16. TB prices for the following would be nice: Fredrick Knight - Steppin Down - MAXINE Leo Price & Band - Hey Now Baby - UP-DOWN Homer Banks - Sweetie Pie - GENIE Tiny Topsy - Just A Little Bit - FEDERAL
  17. That seems about right.
  18. Dakar often used Atlantic for their european releases. Strange but true. I've got Tyrone Davis "Can I Change My Mind"/"A Woman Needs To Be Loved" (now there's a double sider! ) on german Atlantic with a picture sleeve and that one has got a big centre as well (many german releases seems to have a big centre). Otis Leavill "Why Why Why" on Dakar isn't exactly easy to track down, but £75 is slightly over the top to put it mildly... ...even though the flip "Glad I Met You" is decent as well.
  19. The above are ending within a couple of hours.
  20. https://www.voicesfromtheshadows.com/
  21. I think "Don't Give Up" by Cassietta George which was mentioned above is amazing (as is much of her other stuff but not in a very "northern" way). I really like the following as well: Jean Austin - Don't Have To Worry- SONGBIRD Salem Travelers - Give Me Liberty Or Death- CHECKER
  22. Craig Moerer has got two copies right now on his site for $75 each...
  23. I've listed a bunch of 45s on eBay, both some "rarest of the rare" type stuff like... Gwenn Douglass on MICHELLE Mill Evans on TOU-SEA Gloria Fowler on C.J. ...plus more obscure ones. Check them out at: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQgotopageZ1QQsassZpushkings All of them has got sound clips and label scans. Thanks for looking!
  24. I unfortunately don't own the 45, but here's a scan of it:
  25. A copy of this LP sold on eBay a couple of months ago for £114. I guess the 45 of "Love, Let Love..." would cost you a lot more.
