  1. Allan Harris shouldn't be more than £40-£60 surely? I've never seen it listed for more than that anyway. Wouldn't mind a Ronnie Stokes either...
  2. Anyone of you got a spare copy of the above for sale? Please, PM me if so.
  3. Dusty Springfield did a fantastic version on her extremely underrated "Cameo" LP. Check out "Breaking Up A Happy Home" and "I Just Wanna Be There" from that LP as well.
  4. Thank for the tip, just found it. Hope it's still there... Can't believe how I missed it when it was first posted...

  8. Originally released on US One-Derful in 1962 and then reissued on Toddlin' Town in 1969 and on Midas somewhere inbetween. The reason it was reissued was the flipside ballad, "The Town I Live In", which was a national hit when first released. Craig Moerer has got a Toddlin' Town copy for $35, but that's quite a bit too much.
  9. Yes, the fantastic "Everybody's Going Wild" was also released as Curtis Lee & The K C P's on Rojac (#114), with "Get In My Bag" as the flipside.
  10. I played the following this past friday at my club here in Sweden: G. Davis & R. Tyler - Hold On, Help Is On The Way - PAR LO What a pounder! Sounded absolutely fantastic. Have been after an original copy of this New Orleans classic for... oh... at least 5 years, and finally bagged one a couple of weeks ago. Love it!
  11. Sound clips of John Frogg and King Edward & His BD'S perhaps?
  12. Now that's one hell of a box of 45s! Nice to see The Users "Sick Of You" in there, one of my most played singles.
  13. I've got a copy for sale of the following LP: Sam Dees - The Show Must Go On - ATLANTIC By many regarded as one of the best soul LPs ever. This copy is in lovely EX+ condition. Hardly ever played, no surface noise, no clicks/pops etc. Includes the fine LP-only "What's It Gonna Be" plus 9 other fantastic tunes. It is £50 including airmail shipping anywhere. PayPal payments only. If interested, please e-mail me at: fonzeus@telia.com
  14. £20-£25-ish.
  15. A very nice one indeed. Prefer Little Milton's original though, hasn't got all that crowd noise going on.
  16. The above auctions end in about 4-5 hours. Thanks for checking them out!
  17. Just dug out my UK Columbia copy and you're right. Arranged by Reg Guest and produced by Norman Smith. Norman is all over the early Beatles recordings and Reg helped Scott Walker and the Walker Brothers with arangements. Unless they flew them over to the US to record, but that seems highly unlikely.
  18. One of my all-time favourite tracks. It shreds a dance floor to pieces. Only available as a 45 on UK Columbia. It's LP-only as far as US releases goes. His magnificent "Explosive Little Richard" Okeh LP. Slade had their first big UK hit with a cover of this track in 1971. The original version by Bobby Marchan is quite decent as well.
  19. As Pottsy wrote above: "I sat & talked with Lee Silver (the producer/label owner) in length about this. He told me they were a black 5 piece group from San Diego."
  20. P.J./Patti Jerome is not Patti Jo. They sound nothing like each other, and Patti Jo apparently was some kind of "prodigy" and recorded those 1972/1973 Wand and Scepter sides with Curtis Mayfield at the age of 16. Patti Jerome recorded (to my knowledge) as far back as the mid-50s so can't possibly be the same person.
  21. Was just a moment ago racking my brain for fave Tempests tracks... and came to think of one of my fave REALLY fast tunes. "Can't Get You Out Of My Mind". Have a listen: https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Tempest..._Of_My_Mind.ram Also, Fredrick Knight's debut disc, "Steppin Down" on MAXINE, is just slightly too frantic for the dance floor (as I experienced this past friday... ): https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Fredrick_Kn...teppin_Down.ram Another fantastic frantic track is International Kansas City Playboys "Everybody's Goin' Wild": https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Internation..._Going_Wild.ram
  22. The Radiants original hit version is without a doubt my fave. Proper mid-tempo, characteristic Chicago soul. In my opinion, The Tempests take on it is too messy and the Jimmy James has got annoying girl backing vocals. Loads of versions of "Ain't No Big Thing" out there and apparently a very influential track. As far as a Tempests Top-3, here goes: 1: Can't Get You Out Of My Mind 2: What You Gonna Do 3: I Don't Want To Lose Her Top group!
  23. According to the "LA's Silver Soul" comp on Kent... the group was also known as The Vines (on Sutter) and Ike & The Vines. They were three male and two female singers. The main songwriter was known as Saint Coombs and also sang background. There is no picture of them in the booklet. Not a garage rock outfit in any case though. Really like the Everly Brothers sound-a-like vocal harmonies on "How Does It Grab You".
  24. By accident I dug this out earlier this week from my collection and it has hardly left the turntable since then: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OTIS-CLAY-GOT-TO-FIN...1QQcmdZViewItem QUALITY hard soul. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!
