    I know what you mean, but it was probably just another "discotheque record" for the heads at the Italian label. The Joe Quarterman LP on GSF from earlier in 1973 also got an Italian release and most likely was a decent seller and a big play at the discos. Perhaps they chanced on another GSF artist hoping for the same? Or had a multi-release deal in place. Hard to know now, but it wouldn't surprise me. The soul/funk/r&b stuff that was released in Scandinavia for example (or US stuff that turns up here) is mind boggling at times.

    The same can be said for tens of thousands of records by virtually unknown or previously non-successful artists that have been released around the globe. Record labels take chances, or at least they should do. Throw thirty things on a wall and one might stick.

    The Kent 45 release plays the full unedited 3:08 version which contains one extra verse. The lookalike Dore repro 45 at the top of the thread plays the same edited 2:07-ish version which appeared on the original Dore 45, right?

    That's a pretty scarce Philippines(!) issue of that 45 on the eBay link above though! Patti Jo is the original version from April 1973. Curtis Mayfield is from April/May 1974. There's a also decent version by Melba Moore from 1979: Melba Moore released a version of "Ain't No Love Lost" which Patti Jo also recorded the original version of:

    No, it's not true. As you wrote, there was a 7" released in Spain with two tracks from the LP: Step By Step - I Always Wanted To Be In The Band / Cash Money - ZAFIRO/BRUNSWICK, OOB 520, SPAIN https://www.discogs.com/Step-By-Step-Cash-Money-I-Always-Wanted-To-Be-In-The-Band-/release/4743287 There are no US 45 releases from the LP though.
