No, it's not unknown, but few people seems to know about it. I've been looking for a copy for a while and let me know if you want to sell yours or if you find another. I think "Bad News" is a good tune. By the way, shouldn't it be Cappy & StAnewall?

WHAT A SUPERB TUNE! Decently priced as well, not their easiest Tamla 45 to find. https://www.soulclub.org/stream/The_Isley_B..._I_Love_You.ram

I'd like it ALL to be released, really. Either as seperate CDs or in a big box of CDs. Release all unreleased material. Don't be skint, the demand for this stuff will probably be slim in 25-30 years time. At LEAST release a complete Jimmy Hughes 2CD compilation, all of the Dan Penn recordings including the 10 unreleased sides, the 5 unreleased Art Freeman recordings, the 2 unreleased James Barnett tunes (one of which is a version of "It Tears Me Up"!), plus all the 30-ish unreleased tunes by Linda Carr, Spooner's Crowd, Terry Woodford, Del-Rays, Entertainers etc. That would be nice.

Who Was The First White Female Artist To Record On Motown?
Sebastian replied to grant's topic in All About the SOUL
First white artist on Motown (in fact Tamla) was Nick & The Jaguars from August 1959. They were not signed to the label, but did a one-off 45. Great pounding surf instrumental backed with a rocker. -

45s On Ebay - Johnnie Taylor Blues In The Night, Lee Moses,
Sebastian replied to Sebastian's topic in Website Sales
Only about 5 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking! -
Eddie Floyd! Love him. "Things Get Better" is one of my fave Stax cuts. The track you posted, Pete, was as far as I know never issued on a 45. I really like one of his Safice 45s entitled "Baby Bye", punchy 60s dancer. Have a listen.

Well... have you heard this particular 45? The b-side is a ballad. The a-side is an uptempo strings-and-things tune that I can imagine have had spins on the popcorn scene. "It Might As Well Rain Until September" is a decent and well constructed pop tune performed and written by one (actually two!) of the most talented song writers ever. Doesn't make it a soul record ofcourse, or northern soul for that matter. But... I could find worse examples.

Didn't "Beggin'" by Timebox have plays on the northern scene? As for The Eyes... "I'm Rowed Out"... what a tune!!!
-
WOW! That sure is one hell of a twee version of a tune which otherwise is one of my all-time "black rock'n'roll" faves... Here it is by Bobby Lewis instead: (love the Wanderers tune by the way, great Bert Berns produced Brill Building r&b/pop/early soul hybrid).

Bit of an obscure Motown question here... I have The Magic Disco Machine's instrumental version of Sisters Love "A Better Man Than You" on an italian Tamla Motown 45 from 1975. A storming piece of funky 70s. Was it ever released on a 45 in the US? The only US Magic Disco Machine 45 I know is: Magic Disco Machine - Control Tower / Scratchin' - MOTOWN 1362 The vocal version by Sisters Love was issued on the flipside of "Give Me Your Love" on Mowest.
-
He's got 4 copies in stock at $150 each.
-
That's one damn awful sugar-coated vocal delivery on that tune. The backing is nice though, so I guess you could take the instrumental flip and record a decent vocal over it...
-
It seems to be selling for £150-£200 going by UK lists from the past year or so.

For Sale Including Curly Moore - You Don't Mean
Sebastian replied to Richard's topic in Record Sales
That's one hell of a decently priced monster of a 45. Not easy to find. -
Good tune. The version released as G.D. & The Big J alternatively Glenn Dorsey & The Big J on GOOD is the best version in my opinion. . Scans of 4 of its issues:
-
Yes, I'm starting to be able to laugh about it. Wasn't exactly "cheap" though. It was Dee Edwards "Oh What A Party" on D-Town. A bit ironic that the record playing on my turntable when the postie turned up was Slim Harpo's "Don't Start Cryin' Now" on Excello. Even more ironic that I just happened to stumble upon this 45 about 20 minutes prior to the end of the auction and there was me thinking "ah, i really like that tune, have wanted to have it for ages, one of the first obscure Detroit tunes i fell in love with, i'll put in a bid and hope i win it"... If I had only logged onto eBay 30 minutes later...

Are you thinking about "Blues In The Night"? An otherwise LP-track which slipped out on a french Stax 4-track 7" EP and also on a regular 2-track french Atlantic 45.
