  1. Absolute dynamite version! Sounds superb over a big sound system. Wouldn't mind a copy of the 45 myself.
  2. That Freddie North sure is one hell of a rare and superb 45. One of the hardest A-Bet 45s to track down in my experience. I've only seen one copy for sale in the past 4-5 years (and I bought that one ). Monster tune. Heavy drums.
  3. I've tried to order it a two or three times, but when I ask how much the postage cost to Sweden is they've gone silent every time.
  4. Rollin And Tumblin - elmore james - fire 13339 refosoul From the same sessions as "Stranger Blues" and issued on Fire. Perhaps even MORE a wreck of a tune than the previous one. Total dynamite!
  5. Stranger Blues - elmore james - bell 13338 refosoul This is the version released on Bell which has got a lot more punch than the version on Fire.
  6. No wonder that Nelson Sanders 45 sold because that was one hell of a bargain price. Two superb sides.
  7. Goldmine released it as one of their first Sevens 45s (with James Fountain's "Seven Day Lover" on the flip) back in the 90s and sold it for £5. It can still be had for that price. But from earlier comments made I suppose that was a bootleg...
  8. I agree. Superb tune!
  9. Two superb 45s there at very nice prices!
  10. Latest two copies sold on eBay were... $9.99 (M-): https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=190066321254 $17.38 (VG++): https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=280064556262 Plus here's a buy-it-now for $24.99 (M-): https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=230074533274 There are a bunch of current auction copies right now on eBay as well. Superb tune!
  11. Words - sandra phillips - associated acetate 13241 refosoul Unissued uptempo dancer. 7" acetate.
  12. I'd LOVE to see the two unissued Other Brothers tunes from the Modern/Kent archives to be put out on a 45, "Nobody But Me" and "I Got Love". "Nobody But Me" is a storming uptempo dancer and should appeal to both the northern and (especially) funk crowds. "I Got Love" is lovely mid-tempo. Really, these are two fantastic tracks. Eddie & Ernie's "Bullets Don't Have Eyes" would be nice as well. From the unissued Arock cuts, I could do with "Deep Down Inside" (unknown artist, pounding new breed r&b and same backing as King Coleman's "Salt & Pepper") Unissued GWP: "Ooh It Hurts Me" by Larry Banks perhaps?
  13. That Chuck Bridges on Scoop is fantastic. Wouldn't mind a copy.
  14. Inside Your Dreams - grace - kef 13218 refosoul Bit of a left-field rarity here which can't really be put in one category.
  15. Our Thing Is Through - lee shot williams - shama 13213 refosoul
  16. Quite interesting to note the similarities between Joe Hicks AGC label sides ("Don't It Make You Feel Funky", "Got To Be Free" and "Soul Meetin'") and Redbone's "Witch Queen Of New Orleans". Pat Vegas who later was a member of Redbone produced (and co-wrote some of) the AGC sides. The Pat & Lolly Vegas LP on Mercury does by the way include a handful or so of fine northern styled tracks.
  17. Surely that's not the same tune. Joe Simon's is written by Allen Orange while the Motown cut is a Holland/Kendricks/Whitfield job. As for further Joe Simon: try "Travelin' Man", "Long Hot Summer" and "I Got A Whole Lot Of Lovin'" on Sound Stage 7 plus "Just Like Yesterday" on Irral/Dot if you haven't. Top uptempo stuff in the same style as "The Girl's Alright With Me".

  19. We'll Go On - eon - scepter lp Nice to see this mentioned above. Such a superb tune! Pity it's LP-only though.
  20. Flipside to "How's Your Love Life Baby" on Columbia 11140. Here's a scan:
  21. Jackie Moore is also available on US Columbia. Issue copies only, I think. Got myself a copy some days ago.
  22. 45s delivered so far this year: Eddie Curtis - Those Foxes And Pussycats - JOSIE Jackie Moore - Do Ya Got What It Takes - COLUMBIA Cloud One - Disco Juice - P&P Emile Griffith - Goin Goin Gone - TRC Crown Four - Birth Of Playboy - LEE JOHN Richard Berry - Have Love Will Travel - FLIP Angela Davis - Love Bumpin' - FLAMING ARROW Ron Hall & The Muthafunkaz - The Way You Love Me - TSOD Brothers Of Soul - Hurry Don't Linger - BOO Enticers - Calling For Your Love - COTILLION Mickey Lee Lane - Hey Sah Lo Ney - SWAN Have another 15 or so coming in the next couple of days (I hope! ). Have been after a cheap copy of that Eddie Curtis 45 for quite some time now. Love it.
  23. It should only have been £5-£6! If producing a run of 300 (or even less!), 45s costs no more than £2.50 per copy (tops!) to manufacture. That's quite a good profit if selling them for £6. Within no other genre of music does recent reissues (legal or not) cost as much as on the northern soul scene.
  24. The local release is the most desirable format in my opinion, but in these cases where minor label US releases were picked up by major/bigger labels and released maybe a couple of months after the local release, then I consider both originals. But I think there's a world of difference between the Rosco Robinson example and the Four Voices situation where there is some 25 years between the first and second issues. All in my opinion ofcourse and everyone is entitled to spend their money as they wish etc.
  25. Perhaps should've included an "in my opinion" in my previous post. In my opinion the gold Four Voices 45s shouldn't be considered valuable to someone who collects original 45s because it is NOT the original release.
