  1. You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies - ola & the janglers - williams flexi 14980 refosoul
  2. Just spent the afternoon in a record store basement and found quite a lot of nice 45s and LPs (mostly swedish freakbeat/garage/mod type stuff) and amongst the stack of records I brought home was an obscure 4-track gold flexi disc by swedish band Ola & The Janglers. It features a storming version of "You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies" that I thought some of you might like to hear. I've known about it for ages, but it's proven quite hard to track down (especially in playable condition considering that it's a flimsy flexi disc and almost 40 years old!). This is the Dana Valery/Simon & Garfunkel classic given the same kind of 60s freakbeat treatment as The Purple Hearts did on their take of Jimmy Fraser's "Of Hopes And Dreams And Tombstones". I'm not saying that this is "soulful" or should be played in a northern soul setting, probably best to point that out...
  3. Is it specifically the 10" you need? don't know if it exists. It was issued on both 7" and 12" in the US though. I know however that their "Smiling Faces" tune was made available on a pre-release UK 10".
  4. Wouldn't mind an original copy of this if someone is selling. Please, PM me if so.
  5. A stereo copy sold about a week ago on eBay for about £75: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=260084167726 Stereo copies have been selling for £50-£80 for quite some time now. Mono copies are more desirable and has at times sold for £100+ on eBay.
  6. Just a short clip here, but please have a listen: https://www.shingaling.com/percy.mp3 I have this down as Percy & Them on TANTUS, but... isn't that a vocal cut?
  7. You Hurt Me For The Last Time - otis clay - dakar
  8. Getting Nowhere Fast - floyd smith - dakar
  9. Touch Me - truth - devaki 14921 refosoul The flipside to "Coming Home", entitled "Touch Me", is even better in my opinion. Have a listen above. Their deepie "Come Back Home" is a truly phenomenal piece of music as well and one of my all-time favourite ballads.
  10. 44 Long - rufus thomas - unissued stax 14920 refosoul Just came to think about this one... an absolute MONSTER of an uptempo beater. Would love to dance to this at a venue.
  11. OSE = Oslo Soul Experince ( https://www.oslosoul.com/ ). Getto Kitty = superb tune!
  12. Don't offer more than £10, it's not hard to find and shouldn't be expensive. A copy sold on eBay a couple of days ago for $17. There's another one on there without bids right now starting at $9.99.
  13. Not a tape, but found these pins in the record store I work part-time in. Don't know when they were sent out, but they've been laying around there for quite some time.
  14. Yes, it "went expensive" at the end of 2005 or maybe early 2006. That must've been a very poorly listed copy if you recently got it for £50 on eBay. This sold about a week ago: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=280074574771 And some from 2006: https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildatar.php?itemnr=4837847087 https://www.popsike.com/php/detaildatar.php...nr=120052382189
  15. The latest handful of copies of "Drifting" on eBay has sold for between $300 to $450-ish. "Keep It To Myself" usually sells for $25-$50 (but is always much higher on UK lists). Ozz & His Spurlings usually goes for $30-$60. Good tunes all of them.
  16. About 2-3 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking!
  17. "All I Want Is You" is a later released version, with added strings, of a tune which was originally released by Pic & Bill on CHARAY. Major Bill Smith who owned these labels did stuff like this all the time, adding a new vocal to an existing backing track, releasing it under a different title or artist name, adding bongos, strings and whathaveyou. The Pic & Bill version without the strings is far superior in my opinion and as it was their best selling 45, it seldom goes for more than $10 on eBay. The flipside "It's Not You" is a great mid-tempo hammond groover so a record well worth picking up.
  18. The Lonely One - tom jones - decca uk 14769 refosoul This is indeed ONE HELL of a tune. An absolute pounder. Can't stand "Stop Breaking My Heart" personally. His version of "Chills And Fever" (his first Decca 45 if I remember correctly) is superb as well. So is "Looking Out My Window".
  19. Where Do I Go - jeff dale - atco 14768 refosoul All three Jeff Dale 45s on Atco are of high quality in my opinion.
  20. Can't You See That I'm Lonely - wildweeds - cadet 14767 refosoul Haven't thought about this tune in ages. Great one. Al Anderson in his prime!
  21. There's an MP3 here: https://www.solidgold.fi/sounds/11_2005-Sel...teffa/sg007.mp3 Great tune.
  22. That "unsweetened version" of "You Are Too Much For The Human Heart" is truly mindblowing!
  23. busybody - roy lee johnson - okeh 14729 refosoul On that same "early" Okeh tip, here's one which I like a lot!
  24. This is superb! I've got it on the Sabra label though, which I guess is the local label. Didn't know that it had been released on Okeh as well.
  25. That entire "Birmingham Sound" CD is great in my opinion. Great liner notes as well. Check it out: https://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/40911
